a character in “Revelation: The Cure”, as played by Arke

Description

Name: Caelin Taylor
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Faction: Nobility/Parliament

Appearance: With a drawn face and a thin body, Caelin Taylor could be mistaken as anything but a nobleman, politician, or aristocrat. His medium-length brown hair is kept untidy, swept over his head. His eyes exude a calm, soothing demeanor enforced by his deep green eyes. His face is finely sculpted, despite lacking fat. He could be described as handsome, but his skin is far too grayed from disease to be noticed. His stature is slightly hunched, and though he stands at an above-average height of 6'6, he looks much shorter than he actually is. His body is packed with muscle, despite it's feeble looks it's quite strong. As stated earlier, his skin takes on an unhealthy tinge with gray tones, and the only color on his skin take the form of small cuts during short training sessions. Even those cuts are very light and pink.

What he wears is completely dependent on his preferences or his servant's choice. Often, he will insist on clean, simply attire that can be classified as formal. He also insists that they must be also warm and thick. For the most part, Caelin wears a light shirt under a long-sleeved shirt of variable color. Over that he wears formal attire- usually donning fur attire to keep himself toasty. Sometimes it is nothing more than a suit with a fur coat over it. Sometimes on colder days he gets even more ridiculous, donning hot animal-fur robes that few ever wear.

Personality

Caelin is a passive person, often adverse to violence and any inclination to it. His entire persona gives off a warm presence, as if he understood and sympathized with the people's troubles without having to say a word. His eyes enforce that feeling, almost as a stress reliever. He is calm, and almost innocent in his personality. He hides little from others, but what he does hide is locked away with great care. Entirely sociable, he is one of the rare individuals with power that are more-or-less liked by the people due to the innate charisma he gives off.

He can get very passionate about things he fights for. But it is what he fights for that separates himself from many of the other aristocrats. During his life, many events have altered the former arrogant man into something almost completely opposite. He believes that everybody, even the Magi should be represented in some way when making decisions. He may not like the Magi particularly (since he is not ignorant to history) but he maintains that the Magi are still human and as long as they are so, they should be represented. He fears uprising the most, as not only is he sure that his sins of being born in nobility will kill him during the rebellion, but that it proves that the government he is working so hard to fix was already broken beyond repair.

Equipment

Kept on him at all times is a Epieu, a very short spear that is about as long as his arm in total length. It's leaf-bladed spear is complete with a hook, as well as hand guards to protect the hands from being bashed by weapons that attempt to slide down the pole.

He usually wears a very light chain mail. It is through slight paranoia that he does so, as politicians tend to be murdered more than any other position. It resists slashing weaponry extremely well, and can deflect small or thin puncturing objects- but cannot withstand a powerful thrust from a sword or a bash from a mace. Arrows go clean through it as well.

He carries his bag filled with some money. He discarded his medicinal canteen in favor for a piece of belt-equipment that holds several wands, ranging from healing to attacking to defending.

HISTORY
He was born into nobility, growing up with a silver spoon in his mouth and gaining an ego worth that spoon in value. Lord Taylor was a renowned Aristocrat in the production industries, owning a small monopoly on chemicals that are needed more and more to produce products and manufactured goods. To this day, it is the sole reason why the Taylors are so wealthy, and it has infected Caelin's mind because of it. Growing to be completely arrogant, he trampled on the poor and deliberately strode into Delta as a child with a platoon of his father's guards to watch them beat the homeless. However, after his parents were diagnosed with a fatal illness, they began acting strangely. He was only about 16 at the time, and the physician explained that it might be because the disease was affecting the brain.

Before their deaths, his parents gave most of their riches to the poor in Delta and funded a (failed) attempt to clean up the railways in Delta. On their deathbeds, they gathered Caelin in their arms and told him to think very hard when they were gone. That he did, because despite Caelin's arrogant attitude he loved his parents. Since his parents didn't really need to work as the companies brought in money for them (his father hired a professional to deal with paperwork when he didn't feel assed to do it), they were with Caelin most of his life. It was this strange familial situation that would separate Caelin from other nobles. Thinking about all the happy memories of him and his parents, he found his deeds as a child in Delta disgusting. He realized that not everyone was as blessed as he was and now, he had the power to do something about it. During his life, his father had trained him to be his successor. He wasn't truly well versed in politics, but he used what he did know he put into use. As the only child and heir to the Taylor family name, Caelin took his father's seat in Parliament when he was only 19.

His young age made him the target of every aristocrat, hoping to use him as a scapegoat while they drained his money to fuel their own ambitions. They almost succeeded. Escaping from the political death trap, he became a weak voice in the parliament, vying for equal rights and massive change. However, everything was against him- therefore he could not progress. He was too young to be taken seriously, and during later years as he began making forays into Delta to show his support he contracted a rare form of tuberculosis. With his life now timed by the month, he redoubles his efforts to get Parliament and the queen to admit to change while struggling to hold on to his position. He was twenty when he first contracted this rare form of Tuberculosis. After visiting an esteemed doctor in Beta, he was sure he wasn't going to live past his forties. Begging the physician for help, he was given a prescription of a mix of herbs that would sustain his life and hide his illness for the time being. Though the fee was expensive, he willingly agreed. There was no worse event than to let his enemies know he was ailing.

When Vanderbilt discovered the cure to his Illness, Taylor was overjoyed. He was tired, coughing, and the prospect of any sort of good news was good to him. Especially since he had to hire more guards, and fend off multiple assassination attempts due to his presence at the discussion of Goldwater's death. Taylor let his affliction sit for too long, therefore he is still on the mend today. He still retains a large (or loud, whichever is more fitting) voice in Parliament, and still has few friends outside of the Princess and some other acquaintances. Even now, he had to cut off ties with his acquaintances due to the assassination attempts made on his life. The nobleman took in his heir, as he requested, and was raising the boy while balancing work- just like his father. If it wasn't politics, it was the company. If it wasn't the company, he had to raise the kid.

He looked forward eagerly to when this was all over so he can simply retire from politics and take care of his heir.

So begins...
