After all, didn't humans precieve the one known as God as a savior? Looks like he was now killing them all like the demons. What made them different besides different forms?
She followed Kass, and leaned on the back of his chair, watching as the computer rebooted before flickering on. And the first thing she saw on the screen was 42 boxes. She giggled as Kass growled, before standing back up straight and watching him shut down the computer. She was surprised it didn't end up like the door from earlier...though that would cause a small problem if that did happen now wouldn't it?
"Humans. That's who." She said giggling a bit again.
Hearing about supplies, she perked up. Supplies meant more things to play with so she was ll for it. She had been running out of sharp things to throw...mainly since she threw it out the window and forgot where it landed...usually picking it up on rare ocassions when she goes out.
"Supplies are...that way!" She said, pointing towards a random direction. Hell, if anything that could lead to a trap door or something. She made a show of marching towards the direction she pointed, but paused with her right leg mid air.
"Wait...are there trap doors here?"
His sword flashed in the sun, and the fish below him scattered. However, the one quick strike that he'd made was all that he needed. He sheathed his sword, and gathered the three fish that his strike had managed to kill, and carried them back to the beach. He set them down on the pebbled ground, and sat. He removed the small, flat knife that sat in a hidden scabbard on his right boot's heel, and dragged it along the fish's body, removing the scales.
"Mind if I ask you a question?" He said. "Never really worked with Succubi or Incubi before, so I'm not really sure how it works. You just need life energy, right?"
He smiled at Iris's antics and followed her until she stopped, voicing concern about trap doors. He made a show of going into deep thought, crossing his arms and adjusting his glasses. "A valid concern. I can honestly say that there weren't any in the diagrams I found, but that could have easily been changed. I'd prefer not to risk either of us falling into spikey pit of death. All right, guess I'll just carry you." Before she could protest, he scooped her up and made his way down the hall, literally floating just inches above the ground to avoid "trap doors".
"Comfy?" He smirked a little and made it to the elevator without incident. He pressed button and floated inside as the doors opened. They slid shut behind them on their own. Kass let his feet touch the floor again but still held Iris as the elevator began to descend.
"Well... No. I mean, it is the life energy that we need, but succubi aren't like most other demons. We can't absorb human life energy just by touching them. My kind require the intake of blood... It's not something that I'm very proud of, but it's what I do to live." She fell silent, watching as Jacob continued to fix up the fish. "What little human food I've managed to get my hands on I've loved, but there isn't much of it around. It's not like I can walk into a settlement and ask for a steak. It's either kill or be killed." She felt a bit uncomfortable and glanced out over the water, scanning the horizon for any sign of the Angelic Legion that he had warned her about. If they came, she knew that she wouldn't stand a chance, and this boy might not either. "Of course, your blood isn't of any interest to me. You stink like an Angel." she said with a smirk.
She let out a puff of air, and a pout played on her lips. "I could have just walked by myself!" She said before letting out a giggle, a slight pink dusting her cheeks. He was lucky she counted him as cute in her book. If some other guy tried to do this, he'll probably be a cactus...with her knives as the spikes and pointy objects..
As they floated to the elevator she looked down to actually see him floating. Iris giggled a bit at the thought of Kass flying throughout the air, with his arms spread out, and laughing macanically. She could have flown on her own, yet that would cause her to expend to much energy on the so called..."trapped doors" that were littered everywhere in Kass' book...though wouldn't they activate once the duo had walked in? Dammit...didn't think about that.
As they entered the elevator, she expected to be put down back on her two feet, but when she didn't Iris glanced at Kass questioningly. She rolled her red eyes at his playful question and responded with a laugh.
"Didn't think you were the type to flirt Kassy~" She said with a giggle. That was the truth, because honestly? Between her and Kass, she was the one more likely to flirt. "And yes, quite comfy thank you very much." She said before sticking out her tongue childishly. Would he put her down anytime soon? Though as the elevator started to head down, surprised crossed her features briefly. It felt kind of weird going down when your feet wasn't on the floor.
Sighing, he set down the fish he'd finished de-scaling, and drew his sword. It was pretty badly beaten, with dulled edges and hairline cracks. He put his hand on the blade, and closed his eyes, concentrating on the cool steel under his hand.
He winced as the energy flowed out of his body and into his sword. The blade glowed slightly as the energy settled into the metal, repairing the blade and honing it back to its former edge. He lifted his hand, seeing stars as he opened his eyes. He groaned, and put a hand to his head. He waited for a moment, then picked up the recently de-scaled fish, and began fileting it with his knife.

“Quite the pushy bitch, aren’t you?” scoffed a voice behind her. Of course, she knew exactly who it was.
Her shadow stood behind her, in his fully human form. It had shoulder-length black, messy hair, wild eyes and skin that had an abnormal grey pallor to it. It appeared in its late twenties. He was dressed in black, torn jeans, boots that looked like they had been used to stomp in some heads, and a heavy jacket that had seen better days. He took out a long black cigarette looked at the girl. It was a common gesture of his, and she put her hand up to his face, a small flame lighting upon her finger. The man used it to light the cigarette, and pitch black smoke drifted from the tip.
It was more accurate to call the cigarette a Malediction, a cigarette made from herbs that used to only be found in hell. Her shadow once mentioned that it tasted like cayenne peppers and gasoline, but she didn’t quite know what either of them was, though. She hated the smell anyways.
Her shadow continued in a low voice. “I’m looking at you and I see a child and an idiot with a gun. Way I see it, you have a higher chance of getting yourself and everyone around you killed than being able to protect anyone.”
He paused, blowing out more black smoke.
“But because my little companion here has a particular liking for trash,” he said, placing a hand on the girl’s head. “I’ll give you one chance to convince me not to kill you right here and now and just take your stuff.”
The girl shook her head at him, but her shadow ignored the gesture. He always did when it came to humans.
"Well, I'm certainly not eating something that slimy without cooking it first." she said, leaning over and snatching one of the skewers. She leveled it over the flames and watched as it started to brown almost instantly. Jacob smirked and mimicked her, and for a few moments they sat in silence, cooking their fish. And then something disturbed the wind above them, and Kimadantes glanced up.
Large, with white wings and clad in golden armor. It was an Angel.
"Aw, Hell!" She cursed and grabbed Jacob's arm, pulling him back towards the shrubs that lined the beach.
He blushed lightly at here prodding, suggesting that he was being "flirty". Perhaps he had been? Actually, it would be more surprising if he hadn't been. After all, weird things can happen to the heart when you've all but locked yourself in a building with only one other person to keep you from going completely bonkers. Perhaps... His train of thought was derailed suddenly when Iris demanded to be put down, and he grudgingly obliged. It had been... nice? Kass adjusted his glasses and mumbled. "If you had a p-problem with it, you should have said so earlier." Finally the elevator doors opened. The scene laid out before them would have made a redneck cry.
Guns, of all makes and types lined the walls. Uzis, AKs, magnums, 42cal. revolvers, anything a gun nut could want, all kept in pristine condition. Knives, swords, polearms, even eastern weapons were sealed in airtight cases to prevent rust. All of them bore a simple cross on the handles. Kass stepped into the room and rubbed the back of his head, at a loss for words. If this was what human religion used to be like, he would have really hated to see their military. At the other end of the room was another steel door with "Emergency provisions" written across it. In Latin. "Really, who even speaks Latin anymore? Well, I promised you supplies, here they are. All the supplies we'd ever need."
As she was let down, she felt good about being back on her own feet...not that she didn't like being carried, but still. It was good enough for her. Though when he stuttered, she looked to the side to avoid him seeing her most likely red face. There was a slightly akward air for a moment, until the door opened, and a whole weaponary was open before the two. That was enough to sort of...clear out the air, at least for awhile.
Wait...wasn't this supposed to be a holy place? Humans were always hypocrites it seems, even the most religous ones.
She walked out, following Kass' gaze to see the words "Emergency Provisions" written on a door. Well...that was easy. Though, she glanced at Kass, then said "Would the provisions still be good? I mean...It's been so long since it was probably put there."
She wandered closer to the door, touching it lightly with her hands. Would it be possible that humans skeletons were inside? Creatures that thought they could escape...No...she didn't sense any souls inside.
Shrugging it off, she looked around, bending down looking at a few scattered knives. These would come in handy later. She shot a grin at Kass.
"Humans were really weird in the old days huh?" She let out another giggle, as she waved her hands around the room, before picking up a knifes, tossing it up and catching it easily and fluidly.
"Wonder if their gonna go extinct soon. Their a dying race after all." Iris said simply. But then paused, then looked at the white haired nephilim.
"Is the reason why you want to close the gate to help the humans?"
Jacob rolled his eyes. "Next time, blast some driftwood and make a fire so that I can roast mine to. I don't mind sushi every now and then, but it gets ridiculously bland after a while." Sighing, he picked up one of the other fillets, and ate it quietly.
They remained like that for a while until Jacob felt the air around him shift subtly. He looked up, and swore. White wings, golden armor. it was an Angel. Kimadantes tried to drag him towards the shrubs past the beach, but Jacob wrenched his arm from her grip and dove for his sword and shield, scooping them out of the sand and equipping himself. At the same time, he scanned the horizon in all directions. Nothing. This angel was an advance scout. If he moved quickly...
His mind made up, Jacob's wings flared, and he pumped his wings down, shooting him up like a rocket. The Angel, stupidly enough, was looking everywhere but straight down. Jacob's sword flashed in the sun, drawing the Angel's gaze, but it was too late. Empowered steel tore through armor and flesh and bone alike. The sword's path took it through the waist, and out below the armpit, the Angel torn in half by the force of the strike. The two halves fell limply to the ocean below. Jacob scanned the horizon again from this altitude. There, on the horizon, in the direction they;d come from, was the glow of the Angel regiment. Jacob dove back down the the beach, and ran to Kimadantes. "We've got to go. Now."
"We've got to go. Now." Jacob said. She nodded, drawing her dagger and snarling.
"I couldn't agree more." she said, leaping into the air. If they could just get a head start, could just get out of sight before the regiment showed up, they would be safe. "You do know what's going to happen if they find a demon and a Nephilim next to the corpse of their comrade, right?" Jacob smirked grimly, and the two of them shot away towards a thick layer of cloud. There were shots behind them- the Angels had seen. But it seemed that they had yet to notice their dead brother lying on the shore. The sight of a demon was enough reason for them to give chase. "What do we do now?" Kimadantes asked, turning to Jacob. Maybe he could get them out of this.
"I guess so. But then, maybe they had the right idea? God did, after all, send his angels to earth, giving no regard to the humans who died in his war. Though, in the end I suppose none of these helped them did they?" He gestured to the hundreds of guns mounted upon the wall and sighed. "They practically are extinct at this point. Pushed to the edge of extermination, and suddenly magic appears in the world. Very convenient. But none of my concern. I have no interest in helping the humans, I simply want the demons to lose. Might as well throw the angels down with them while I'm at it." He went over to the door where she stood and adjusted his glasses. "I... Hope you're not opposed to my plan. I doubt I'd be able to accomplish it alone."
Iris had only been born out of the welfare of the either side, much like Kass. Their was no love between her parents. Azrael disappeared the moment her mother was pregnant. Then her mother died of being sick, and no one showed up. Her so-called father, she only saw him once briefly. She barely remembered his face. She did remember to slaughter a few when she escaped though, that was a pleasant memory for her. A berserk Nephilim, was something to be feared much to her delight.
Hearing the rest of his explanation, she offered a shrug towards him. If anything, she was fine with both of them destroying each other completely. Not closing the gate to seal them off, but instead killing them all. A bit different, but still all the same. Just to cause at least both sides to fall.
Iris blinked as she watched him walk back over and ask her for her help. Well, that was the way guys asked for help after all. She smiled a bit, before closing her eyes and tapping her chin slowly, as if to simulate thinking. She opened one eye, as if to give him a playful wink.
"Well Kassy, we both have the same goal in general. Besides you were stuck with me the moment I walked into the vatican." As the last word was spoken, she reached up and tapped his nose like he had done to her earlier. She shot him a playful smile again, before continuing. "Besides, it'll be fun to go watch the angels and demons destroy themselves along the way."
"I won't need too long... Maybe five minutes, seven minutes tops." She said. "As long as you keep them off of me, I should be able to get this done pretty quickly." Jacob nodded, then drifted forward into the clouds. Kimadantes felt a little worried for the boy- it was a feat to take down a single Angel, but a regiment? If it was just her she would be dead already, and judging by the shouts they had discovered the body of their fallen comrade. "Focus!" She mentally scolded herself before turning to the task at hand. Taking a deep breath, she blew flames into her palm, where they sizzled and quickly turned a tarry shade of black. What was worse was the smell- sulpher and brimstone. The Angels would notice in no time, which left both her and Jacob in a precarious situation. Closing her eyes, she concentrated, and the fire began to spread, spider-webbing through the air and cutting across the clouds. Smoke began to swirl around her, and the very sky began to crack. Kimadantes pushed back- her part was done. But opening a Rift took more than just a little fancy flames- it took time. If she tried to open one directly inside her family home, the guards would prevent it from forming too quickly, so she aimed for a patch of land just outside of the palace walls. She could hear shouts and the sound of conflict behind her. If those Angels reached her, not only would she be dead, but they would have a clean shot into Hell, where they could potentially cause some serious damage. "Oh, come on!" she said, waving the flames on with large strokes of her wings. This Rift just couldn't open fast enough.
He gave a genuine smile and chuckled at the truth in Iris's words. "I suppose that's true enough!" Not as if I mind at all. he thought to himself, his face going a little pink. In reality, he'd been concerned with how she'd respond for almost a month now. Knowing that she was definitely on his side was a huge relief. After all, he was going to need all the help he could get, and he wasn't very good at making friends. He was prepared to push the door open to what would hopefully be a room full of unspoiled food stuffs, but he stopped suddenly as if frozen. "A rift... Is opening. Four miles southeast of here." Who would be stupid enough to open up a gate to hell in the middle of Europe without taking the time to at least draw out a protective circle? However, it could be an express ticket straight to the Hellgate. It would also bring the attention of every angel, demon, and those stuck in the middle, to one point at the same time. Either way, he wanted to be there.
"Let's not waste any time!" He ran for the elevator they came down in and was ready to close it the second as soon as Iris got in.
Against a full Angelic Regiment, Jacob didn't entertain any illusions of success. He might be able to take down a handful of soldiers, maybe a knight if he had all of the luck in the world. Then there was the fact that, as an Angel Nephilim, he probably wouldn't be taken as a prisoner. If he was lucky, they'd kill him on the spot. If not, he was sure that there was a special place in Purgatory just for "traitors" like him.
The Angels charged, moving into the cloud bank en masse. Jacob smirked. He darted into the thick of the Regiment as it entered the clouds, cut at a few of the soldiers, and retreated again. Chaos ensued as Angels, hindered by poor visibility, began to fight each other, the energies flowing from the opening Rift permeating everything with a twinge of demonic energy. Simply put, everything seemed like a Demon to the Angels, whose confusion would hopefully buy enough time to get Jacob and Kimadantes through the Rift.
She rushed into the elevator, as it shut before going back up to the building. A free ticket to hell... she wondered how it would look like. As the elevator opened, she rushed out with Kass and winced a bit at the sunlight that shown into her red eyes. Iris closed her eyes, opening her senses. Shuddering, she could sense immense amount of angelic souls, and a single angelic Nephilim soul along with a demon's soul. A starnge combination.
In the distance, fluttering wings of the angel soldiers signaled that her soul sensing was correct. She glancedat Kass, before nodding and giving him a smirk.
"I'll meet you there Kassy~"
Her body shuddered, before black wings erupted from her back. As long as she didn't use that move she should be fine. Quickly, she jumped and her wings flapped greatly before heading over there.
The Angel hovered in front of the Rift, his brow furrowed, and Kimadantes saw him lean closer. A Rift floating in midair was unusual enough, but its presence was enough to put him on high alert. Only those of Demonic blood could open doorways to Hell, and the sight of one was a dead giveaway that something hellish was nearby. As the Angel turned, Kimadantes reached out a hand and pulled with all her might, summoning the flames from the depth of the Rift. A blade of black fire shot from the tear, and sliced cleanly into the Angel's wing. He shouted, flapping frantically with his uninjured limb, but his efforts proved futile and he dropped like a stone through the clouds. Satisfied, Kimadantes returned to the Rift, feeling the hum in her bones that meant the door was ready.
"Jacob!" she shouted. The sound would give away her position, but with any luck the Nephilim was still alive, and they could slip through before the Angels caught up.
He broke away from the Angels, and moved towards the Rift. What had started as a tingle was now an overwhelming presence that shook Jacob to his very soul. Beyond that Rift was Hell itself. He made it to the Rift, and saw Kimadantes waiting for him.
If he did this... If he went to Hell, there was no turning back. He could turn away now. Surrender to the Angels, be taken prisoner, wallow in Purgatory for a few thousand years, then find Heaven. But if he went through the Rift into Hell, Jacob could sit in Purgatory for all eternity, and it wouldn't make a difference.
He steeled his resolve. He would do it. He'd come too far now not to. Jacob dove into the Rift...
After what felt like hours they finally got outside the Vatican. Iris wasted no time in taking off towards the rift, raven black wings pushing her off the ground in a flurry of black feathers. Kass grinned as the ground around his feet cracked and ripped apart, red lightning streaking across the earth from his body. "As if I'd let you get there before me!" He crouched and kicked off the ground, the air where he once stood collapsing so quickly that the sound of thunder echoed in the small plaza. Suddenly he was in the air, his coat flapping in the wind. He felt them before he could see them. Angels, hundreds of them in that cloud bank. Kass' grin widened as his hand went the Armageddon blade. As he drew it, the handle lengthened and the blade shortened and warped, becoming a halberd.
Kass burst into the could bank, running the halberd through the first angel he saw. His eyes flared with a mad glee as the felt his weapon tear armor and flesh with equal amounts of ease. He kicked the angel off his blade and watched it vanish into a cloud of gold dust. Kass wasted no time, and neither did the angels. They attempted to surround him but Kass simply lengthened the halberd and cleaved through three of them with one swing.
Weak. To weak. Kass made his way for the rift, cleaving through, shooting or stabbing any angel that got in his way. It also left a nice clean path for Iris to get to the rift.
"Who's there?" she shouted over the sounds of battle as the Angels waged war against their new attackers. Jacob was still behind her, she hadn't forgotten him. Leaving him alone to wander through Hell all by himself was a bad idea, especially with him being the son of an Angel. But whatever was out there, she wanted to know. " I said, who's there?" Kimadantes shouted again. This time, she saw movement through the clouds; something was streaking towards her, winged and large. Could it be an Angel? Sure didn't feel like one. She bared her fangs in a snarl and drew her knife as the thing burst through the clouds, and Kimadantes found herself staring into a pair of red eyes.
Though a few did stay in her path, she easily paralyzed them with the spirits that surronded them, and watched as the spirits wrapped around them like a snake. She smirked to herself, as knives flew out of her hands, easily cracking the skulls of the angels and turning them to gold dust.
She took the path Kass had made for her, and soon a black blade emerged in her hand. She streaked through the crowd, and soon heard a woman's voice. It demanded for her to identify herself. Sensing her, her crimson eyes locked with the owner of the voice. Her soul... was familier. The demon soul that had lurked around the Vatican! How ironic that this was the demon.
She landed on the ground, and her wings were soon shrinking as it went back into her body. Iris blinked, before offering a smile at the demon. "Macha. It looks like you needed a bit of help there!" She said, as she giggled a bit at the end. She pointed to the falling angels thanks to Kass. "We decided to jump in and help you out! Though Kassy can get a bit excited about battling as you can see!"
Her black sword soon dissolved back into the skull tattoo on her palm. If anything, she just had to get this woman to trust her, at least not see her as a threat.
"Well... Thanks for the help I suppose." She said, still not relinquishing her hold on the hilt of her dagger. The girl had said that there was another, and it was true that Angels were dropping like flies. Admittedly, she felt the need to give whoever was killing them a good, firm pat on the back; she and Jacob wouldn't have stood a chance. The Angel Nephilim was undoubtedly waiting for her, and would be wondering where she had got to, but the last thing she needed was for him to be poking his head back out of the Rift. "Who are you? It isn't exactly safe to be hovering around a Rift- The Angels take it pretty seriously. That regiment might not be the only one, so I suggest you two high-tail it." Kimadantes wanted to go, but her curiosity was overwhelming. How had these two known that she and Jacob were out here? Had this girl and her friend really just wanted to help, or was there some other reason?
