Jamie sighed, relieved of the feeling of sandpaper in her throat, and that odd film of ickiness over her tongue. She watched Gil out of the corner of her eye, really bad habit that was. She hardly looked people in the eye, she liked looking from afar. It was easier to study if they weren't reading your thoughts as you were theirs. She cooted to the island, taking a seat on the counter, letting the water roll acros her tongue before she swallowed it. Next best thing to mouthwash, maybe. She stared at the wall, kicking her feet back and forth, tilting her head back every once in a while to repeat her little ritual.

She was growing to like it here. She missed Nate like hell, but she was good with doing away with all the hubub of programming and competing. Sure, it was stressful here, but at least she wasn't dead. Jamie was brought out of her thinkery when Gil spoke, apaprently all thought was lost, because she opened her mouth to respond with water still in her mouth. Nice one, Laserhead. She waved, swallowing what was left of the water, along with any dignity she'd built up, wiping off her mouth.

Sleep? Was it that obvious? "Uh, yeah. Sorta conked out in a chair. Easy to do when its so quiet."

She drank more water, looking at her feet, she probably looked horrible right now. That was just great. Nerds weren't supposed to be coneited, but she had an image to upkeep. Even if they were in like, nowhere land.

"Uhh..." Why the hell was she not talking? Words. Form them, brain, do it now. "What about you? Wokring on your.... uhhh.... group, guild, thing?"

Hot damn.... Stubble was indeed sexy, in Jamie's head. Gave guys that George Clooney edge that she so loved. She realized she was staring at him, again, that totally not-there look on her face. If she'd known better she would've thought she'd been biting her lip too. Thankfully she wasn't that tired. She smiled as an afterthought and took another gulp of water, "Yeah... I don't really care anymore. I just, sleep when I want to. Maybe I'll come out of here nocturnal."

"Internet... I could, hack. Into it. But I'd need signals and they've like, blocked them all, it looks like." Guess they wouldn't want us Facebooking for help. She smirked, looking back up at him. Ooh. Gil talks to Hot Stuff? That was neat. Maybe she'd, eventually, sit in on one of those. Close proximity to the top two attractive people in the building. Well... then Kacie. But Jamie wasn't really swinging that way. "I've never played that." Don't know what it is... either/ She shook her head at herself, she was a bad nerd, she was. Never played video games like that. She played with Nate, and that was it. "Is it fun?"

She looked back at him and tilted her head, "Uhm. Yeah, no. I guess I didn't..." She cleared her throat, twisting the cap of her water on, and off, and on again. Say it. Watch him run, James. "Uhh. I miss, my brothers, mostly. Dave and Luke. Uhm... nephews, too. Mostly Nate, though..."

Oh, be vague. That's good, right? Right, Jamie. Perfect plan. I mean, unless he thought Nate was your significant other, due to yuor vagueness. But what're the chances?

Jamie kicked her feet absentmindedly, Joe left a lot of people behind. Ever since he was gone, Dave and Luke were like hawks with her. They had to know who she was with, where they were from, if they'd ever committed a crime, even something like petty theft was a big huge no on their plate. She laughed, and shook her head, twisting the cap on and off.

Her, hack it better? "I'm, better at robots. I gave up hacking after like, my senior year in high school." She nodded, she'd gotten into that stupid techy school then. Robot competitions every three months, no free time. She listened to his plan, although she was staring at her toes, wriggling them, stupid polish was getting old already. She looked up at him and tilted her head, "First person to not suggest just breaking the hell out. Smart man." Openly obey them, underhandedly rebel.

She watched his face, the guy was really cute. She may not have even payed any attention to him outside of here, too busy shoving her nose into robots wirings and taking care of Nate. New game to play, would be fun. But she couldn't imagine zoning out on it for very long in here. "Sounds like a plan."

She widened her eyes and shook her head, "What? No. God, no. He's a kid, my kid." What the... crap. no. See, you fail brain! She waved her hands about to add on to the total wrongness of that question, and then the whole, inferring she'd given birth. "i mean, he's not... Uhhhh." You're screwed. Yeah, Jamie, you kinda are.

Jamie scrambled for words that would negate what she'd just said. He wasnther kid. She was a freaking virgin.... almost. Well, tehcnically, she wasn't. But, not having sex for more than like, five years, counted, right? She honestly doubted that. Shit.... shitshitshitshitshit. This is bad. Oh yes, Mama Red was really a mom. How nice, right? No. She wasn't a mom. She was, but not like that. Damn it, stupid brain, hate me don't you?

She stared at him, wactually shaking ehrself out of her mild rant. "Wh- Oh. He's only, seven. Well, eight. In a little while." She was hoping she wouldn't miss his birthday... no that'd just suck. She wouldn't even think about that. She needed to un-cougar herself, right now. "He's not, uhm. Mine. I mean. I'm not his biological mother." Now it sounded like she'd just got hooked up with a divorced guy. This was stupid. She facepalmed, groaning and scratching her head. Why was she so tired?

"Okay, I like, don't tell people this much. Especially not. You know, in a situation like this." Not that she'd ever been in one like this, but he could use this against her if he wanted to. She looked up at him again, squeezing the bottle in her hand till it made the imploding popping noise. "I have three older brothers, well two now. Joe, he was the oldest. He uhm... well he died, a few years ago. And, Nate was his son. So... I adopted him. I guess you could say I was Joe's favorite anyway, and Dave and Luke already had families starting. So it made sense. He's my nephew, but he's my son, too."

She sighed, that worked. Now he'd actually have the entire story to tell.

Hopefully he wouldn't, though.

Nice going, smart one. He was totally put off, wasn't he? He got quiet. She hated when people did that. She'd rather they just say something stupid than nothing at all. She needed to know what people were thinking, it helped gauge reactions easier. She couldn't tell what he was thinking, even staring at him all intently. She took a gulp of her water, which was progressively getting warmer. Ew.

She snorted, covering her mouth. Come on... She cleared her throat and erased that action from her memory bank, "Brave? I'm not brave. He's my family, you know? You don't leave people hanging like that. And Joe, he wouldn't have wanted him in the system, or something. I loved him, and I love Nate. We all pitch in." She smirked, she'd cried her eyes out because he wouldn't stop crying. The entire, fireteam and decided to take shifts watching him. And Jamie got to sleep for once.

"Thanks, that means a lot coming from you." Mhm. Now you tell him. What? He'd said she didn't always have to be brave, right? Well this was her not being brave. Not acting like the robots she created, that had no felings and couldn't be hurt by anything. This was Jamie being real, non-edited, Jamie. Not that Mama Bear version everyone else saw. Even if she was... a Mama Bear ninety-nine percent of the time.

She loved the kid, though. He was smart, and he had just as big of a heart as his dad did. Her own piece of Joe. She giggled, "Yeah? He probably would." She looked down at her toes and curled them, uncurled them, and repeated. She looked up at him again, "You wanna show me it?"

Why was it getting so hot in here? Jeezus. Did they turn the A/C off? Jamie was burning. She wasn't sure if it was actually hot, or if she was having heat flashes, but she was sweating like a polar bear in the Sahara desert. She wiped her brow and weaved absentmindedly through the tables in the room, chugging her water every few moments. She saw hot dude sitting in there, all by his lonesome. The things she wanted to do to that guy. It would make her borthers furiously embarrassed, she was sure, and they were was too crass about their sex lives sometimes, came with the territory of being a firefighter.
She cleared her throat and sat down in a seat a few tables down from him, running her hand through her half-dyed hair. She hated when it went natural, it was so high school to her. It was gorgeous if you just looked at the style of it, but color-wise it was about as interesting as black velvet on black velvet in the middle of the night.

Ohshitishetalkingtome? was pretty much the first thing that Jamie thought, and when she looked at him, that just got so much worse. It was like, being a Nun, who'd just gotten a free-pass to get dirty with whoever she wanted for one day. It's like, you so want to do something, but you know you'll either regret it or it won't work out. She was thinking she'd just not be his type, being the nerd that she was, she would never regret getting with that right there. She had to bite her lip at the constant speel of thoughts she was having, "Uhh, yeah. It's just, hot." Not as hot as he was, nosir. She'd be melting if that were case, although it felt like she was. The bit of makeup she had worn she washed off in the shower, not chaning much of her appearance than the amount of freckles that were visible. They were pale anyway.

"Do you, uh, feel better? You were pretty sick." She moved her hand from her face, drinking more of her water, it looked like she'd been in a wet t-shirt contest, but unfortunately she was just sweating and had a nice layer of it over her chest area, which made the material of her a-line just stick to her. It would've been sexy, maybe, if it weren't you know, gross.

Judas' look of gross was like, Jamie's idea of pure eye candy. She wasn't too fond of pretty boys, as far as relationships went, but he sure was nice to look at. She figured Kacie would get with him eventually, and that'd be tortur to sit through. She took them for being loud, in whatever 'extracurricular' activities they may have participated in. Seriously, you could cut the sexual tension in here with a cold pencil with little effort. She fanned ehrself and leaned back in her chair, running her hand over her jeans, she needed shorts. And unlike Judas, she couldn't walk around in her underwear. Contrary to popular belief, nerds didn't all wear granny panties.

"Yeah, shift happens. That's the cleaner version of that saying..." She clearead ehr throat, finishign off her water. "Thos ene wkids, they had bags, I think. it's proabbly... clothes. I could really use some shorts right about now... jeans get... sticky, to say the least. I probably look like a freaking, hooker or something." She chuckled at the idea of her beign on a corner, what guy would pay for her? She'd like to think Gil would, but hey, that was probablty wishful thinking. Oh good grief, now she was thinking about terrible things. What was it about being in close quarters with so many people that made the hormones rise so heavily? It was like have a perv-film over your eyes.

She chuckled, "I don't think I could eat any sort of human meat, without going bulemic. Joe would kill me if I ever 'did the unnatural route' of keeping in shape." She wasn't fat, at all. She wasn't skinny either. She was toned. Thanks to trying to do fireman's exercises on the regular with her two older brothers. She ran her hand over her chest subconciously, pulling at her shirt to keep it from sticking, not helping much. The fact that she actually had boobs was even worse, what happened to the flat-chested nerds?

"I've been using mint, haha. It's in the kitchen. Although it's hard to get the smell onto your teeth

Jamie chuckled, like she would walk around with the breath of a grabage monster when she was doing so much talking. Especially with their being males in the house, she'd rather they not see her unattractive side. Although some of them found her unnattractive at all times, that could easily change if any of the other girls nudged her out of her shell. She was a redhead, after all, they had certain 'perks'.

Judas went wide-eyed, if not for the surprise of him moving so quickly, definitely for the gorgeous landscape that was shown off. "I... I guess, the new kids, the guy, there was..." Oh hell, Jamie, what were you trying to say. She stood up and brushed her hair out of her face again, "Best stuff? Hah, I don't really... I'm not into fashion and all." Liar. Who has a closet full of Yukka clothes? Mhm, you know you like the brands. She almost died, not literally, with the clap to the shoulder. Oh she was such a spaz, she was probably nearly twice his age, for Pete's sake. She ran a hand through her hair again, sliding her glasses back onto her face, "Okay, an escort. Escorts have life, no?"

She moved out into the hallway, observing the two newbies that were out there. A guy and a girl, the epitome of gorgeous. Even next to Judas, that looked pretty taunting. And they looked, dare I say, real.

Jamie was in the hallway, staring at Judas liek he was insane. "Uhh, they have, name tags, and..." Her eyes drifted to the two on the floor, what she wouldn't give to be that Susie Ann looking girl on the floor, practically wrapped around that guy. he gave Judas a run for his money. Not so much of a pretty boy as a hot, fireman sort of guy. Yep, she could totally see this happening. She would bond with him over her knowledge of firemen, and the total effort that went into that. And then- And then she realized she was staring, and probably drooling, over a kid who was younger than her, and way way way out of her dimension. Way out of it. "Uhh, a letter?"

Shit. This was another one of those tricks, but the gorgeous guy, []that[/i] she could live with. Cougars weren't that bad, and Judas had already said she was the best on he'd seen. "See, it says share. I feel like I'm sitting in on Nate's class. This is weird." She nudged Judas and handed it to him grinning, "I'm so stealing whatever up-styled stuff you have. We are officially share buddies."

Heck yes. She got to wear clothes that touched those abs. Thank you creepy people, for letting one of these bones slide this way.
