PERSONALITY
Ace was once a pretty normal, pretty happy, and pretty enjoyable fella; then he went to high school. He used to enjoy simple things, like reading and playing Xbox with the boys, but when he began having a hard time keeping his tough guy attitude under wraps to enjoy his life, he wound up defusing himself to do right by his new friends. They seemed like semi-normal kids, coming from the other side of the social train tracks at school, but that was okay with Andrew, who they christened 'Ace'. As they got older, he found that they were extremely hateful; their views on the school and the people that either attended it or worked for it were fanatically negative. He was ignorant and acted like it wasn't a big deal, mainly because it was something he didn't want to keep on his mind due to it's uncomfortable nature. He gradually began going to more parties and did more things that the average person would regret as adults, but he kept himself from becoming self-aware of his self-destructive nature. Eventually, he got to the point that he would punch out punkasses until they bled, and it tended to happen a lot, as over the years he had somehow become a target of the enemy cliques. His style is different than most, but Ace didn't mind that he didn't fit in with most, and neither did his friends (which he realized later was quite an ironic paradox). At some point, he decided that he simply didn't want to fit in. Being unique is something that he likes, and no matter how nice a person is, if they weren't in the 'outcast' group, he assumed that they were judgmental clones. He lacked sympathy for them and tended to take his anger out on them. There was a lot of anger and hate in the years before his former friends attempted to attack the school, and he blames himself for fueling the fire that helped cause them to militarize themselves in the firstplace.

Since his friends were discovered and arrested, their homes raided, and their attack foiled, Ace has secluded himself and shut the world away in exchange for an appreciation of Plutarchian sonnets. This isn't a psychological breakdown, however; he is playing politics with the world. Being as he was the closest friend of the would-be shooters, he is under fire from the community, along with their family and local politicians, for not stopping them. He is extremely intelligent, but doesn't like to show it anymore. He can make a rhyme as easily as most men can play a hand of poker, but he doesn't even talk to people anymore. He does his work in school like he should, but doesn't allow anything to get in the way on his day-to-day basis. He can be the nicest kid in the world if you give him the chance, but no one does anymore. He knows why they did it, but he won't tell anyone, because no one will believe him. As a result, he is very hostile; he is tough and mean, and doesn't take shit from anybody willing to give it to him. He wants to be the baddest motherfucker in his world, and knows how to manipulate for his own profit. He's very smart with advanced elocution, and practically untouchable; takes care of anybody willing to help him. You only double-cross him once. Despite his self-exile since the shooting, he has found himself getting into more fights than usual (never when a school authority or police are around, of course), and has even avoided a gun battle. He really only hopes that he, as well as the community, can move on past this tragedy and live their lives normally. He is even considering going to college and breaking free of his current wasteful lifestyle. If his father didn't beat him up so much, and if he didn't vandalize anything that he wanted, he'd consider following through with what he really wanted. He's come to grips with the fact that nobody believes in him, and nobody wants for him to succeed. That's fine with him; they'll get what's coming.

HISTORY
Ace has never been wanted. Even in preschool, he was rejected because no one understood what he liked to talk about. By the 5th grade, he had completely withdrawn from everything. He buried himself in books, mostly the classics such as Homer and Shakespeare, trying to widen his horizons with words; he may as well have painted a giant bullseye on his forehead. His years being homeschooled were good, up until his mom died of the flu. Then his father, a teacher, had to work three jobs to pay everything off. That's when the abuse started; as his grades began to slip, his father only hit him harder, while his sister was getting college offers as early as middle school. Ace grew up an intellectual who loved doing things; thus, he always felt his primary goal in life was to learn and to impart knowledge to others, and even aspired to be a high school history teacher. On the side, however, he could be found riding mountain bikes, playing Hockey, hunting, camping, and reenacting the American Civil War. He was just another little kid who appreciated simple things. After the unexpected death of his mother, he temporarily moved into a youth shelter and fell in line with a non-desirable crowd that generally inspired him to go against the established authority, but things eventually got out of hand when they began hinting at plans involving an assault on the school. The perpetrators attempted to include him in the plot when he began asking him questions about guns and military tactics. Ace shared his knowledge with the shooters, and after a few months had passed, the shooter came to him with $1,200, asking Ace to buy him a good weapon for hunting and for sport shooting. Ace obtained an Armalite AR-18 semi-automatic rifle for the shooter, who was too young to buy weapons at the time. Over time, Ace helped begin a Cold War between his friends and the authorities, acquiring several guns that a Rock Island Armory M1911A1, a Browning Auto 5 shotgun (the stock and barrel of which were both illegally sawed off), and a Kimel AP-9, incorrectly referred to as being one, "just like Dylan had". For a long time, the shooters secluded themselves away from Ace, only being social when he needed information on firing techniques or to jot things down in his mysterious notebook. Knowing it was just too much, Ace made the anonymous phone call that led to their arrest and saved the lives of the people who had judged him for so long. Upon being interrogated about the situation, he was able to talk his way out of any suspicion that he was involved in the planning and execution, which was true; they didn't have any reason to believe that he had supplied them, so he kept his mouth shut. His days are now spent alone; alone in his car, alone in the classroom, alone at lunch, alone after school, alone in the jewelry store when he breaks in after dark. One such attempt to vandalize a teacher who rubbed him the wrong way has now gotten him a saturday in detention, which will probably be spent antagonizing anyone else unlucky enough to suffer an extracurricular punishment at the hands of the school regulations.

EQUIPMENT

Ace carries around a reproduction Israeli Paratrooper satchel bag, which contains all the things he thinks he needs day to day. This includes a

Smith & Wesson 386 revolver; he's been in too many physical predicaments to know that people won't stop until he's messed up worse than they originally intended, and if it means keeping his father's revolver on his person, he'll do it. Even in the aftermath of the attempted shooting, he's been able to slip it into school every day undetected.
