a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by coffeeandcigarettes

Description

I'm not going to write some long history. I'm sorry, I know that's how the site works, but I don't like it. I liked building my characters through the story. I like letting the other Roleplayer know things gradually about my characters. Writing a whole essay about my character's life, what she likes and doesn't like- I'm not into it.

So begins...

Cleo Regalia's Story

"You told me you were human before," She stood up, feeling a bit intimidated with him standing and her sitting, although they were practically the same height when she stood up anyway. She watched him raise a paw, and tried not to giggle.

"Sort of," she tilted her head at him, "But you have to have them connected like this," she grabbed his paw, a bit gentler this time, and shook it. "You shake...limbs..." Limbs, that made more sense than anything at this point.

His paw slapped in her hand, not wet just sort of gooey. It wouldn't stick, just sort of leave a smudge that would be gone in a moment. "O...kay..." he said slowly, a small uncertain grunt, "Why?" He raised one eyebrow slightly. "Can't you meet humans another way?" Well, at least he was learning something. He didn't understand why but at least he knew what to do if he saw a human. Walk up and shake their hand!

"I mean...sometimes, humans kiss each other, but that's different...like their mates and family members and stuff." She let go of his hand, and continued speaking. "Sometimes they hug each other...have you ever hugged someone- or something?" She opened up her arms at width length, "I guess you can't do this one," she said, frowning. "But I can hug you, and you can sort of hug me, by putting a paw around my hip or something." And with that she sort of lunged herself at him in a playful matter, not necessarily putting all her weight upon him, but not really holding back either. She wrapped her arms around his oozing body and squeezed lightly.

He continued to stare blankly at her as she explained. All of this was just wooshing over his head. Kissing? Hugs? Arms wide? Paw around her hip? She wasn't a mate or family so why would he? This train of thought was sharply cut off by being pounced, causing a startled yelp and suddenly scrambling to escape from underneath her. His body would squish down and she would probably get the uncomfortable feeling of his bone, which was rubbery like cooked chicken and would bend under her touch. But despite his wriggling, he wouldn't lash out, just flail his paws and roll around left and right.

As soon as she heard his yelp, she knew that it was a bad idea. Suddenly, he was wriggling, uncontrollably, and she muttered a few, somewhat soothing words, trying to get him to calm down, but he wouldn't listen and continued to move, so she quickly let go and took a step back. "Okay, okay," she rubbed the back of her head, "maybe that was a little too much for you to take in."

She pat his head, or at least tried to, and then looked at him with a sort of sorrow upon her face. "I should get going..." She looked towards the forest, watching as a few creatures frolicked around, chasing each other and playing. She wondered why Malachi wasn't with some other wolves; in a pack. That's how it worked, wasn't it? They lived in packs and there usually was an alpha male... "Doesn't matter anyway," she thought to herself. She looked back at the creature before her.

He took a few steps away from her, shuffling until his back pressed to a tree. It was down right ridiculous. She wasn't even that big, he could easily take her down, right? He wouldn't jerk away from her pat, but he stared at her hand cautiously. "Why did you pounce on me?" he asked. "I thought you were trying to eat me."

That probably didn't sound like it made much sense, but it had been a long time since he had seen his family and rough-housed with them (which resulted in pretty much the same when they did). In fact, why hadn't he thought of eating her? She looked a little slim, but he had eaten smaller. His tongue slipped out of his mouth, lapping his chops.

She looked at him confused. "I didn't- I mean I was hugging you, and I couldn't eat you, that's crazy. I mean, I could, but I'd have to kill you first..." She explained, but realized she was only making it worse. "Never mind." She rubbed her temples on her head, suddenly she had a huge headache.

"Anyway, I should really get going..." She repeated like before, re-positioning her sword and bag so she was more comfortable. "Speaking of eating, I'm starving. I haven't ate yet, so I need to go hunt something to eat..."

Malachi regarded her carefully for a moment, but up until now she had been mostly harmless, so why should he be afraid of her? He did liken it to his youngest of memories when his kin would jump on him and try to wrestle. But he also didn't really understand the idea of forgiving someone.

"Okay. Just stay away from my part of the forest," he reminded her, turning cautiously away from her and walking back in the direction he came. He looked to be leaving for now, without a concern for her being hungry.

Cleo watched him walk away, his skin dripping and sliding. She turned and walked into the forest, unsure if Malachi would follow her or not. She hadn't been thinking clearly the whole time, she should still be afraid of him. At any moment, he could decide to ear her or attack her, and the only reason she kept ignoring that thought was because she was so utterly lonely it hurt and because he could speak. She never met a talking animal before, she was quite sheltered, living practically alone in the wild, fending for herself and wondering everyday if she would make it to bedtime.

It would be maybe half an hour later that Malachi wandered around, completing his morning rounds and retired to his cave full of thoughts and questions. Today had been quite exciting when he got down to it with a wagging tail (though he didn't realize it). He had met another person in the forest and actually talked for the first time in forever, and now he was free to just reflect. He slumped down on the floor for a moment, looking back on the conversation.

And then a strange thought hit him. She said she was hungry, so why didn't he hunt something down for her? Maybe it would be a good way to keep her out of his territory. It made sense to him. He was pretty sure that was a thing humans did. So up to all fours he went, suddenly dashing off into the forest to maul a squirrel or rabbit or something, at which point he would carry the rodents corpse in his teeth back to where he last saw her.

Cleo said upon a tree branch, high up, scanning the area for any small creatures she could hunt down. She wasn't far from where she had last seen Malachi. It bothered her that she hadn't had said a few things like, "Won't you keep me company?" or something like that. Probably not as blunt, but she would have said it none the less, if it weren't for the nagging idea in the back of her head that he didn't want to be bothered.

After speaking with the tar wolf and then retreating back into solitude, it was almost torture for the girl. It was exhilarating to speak to another person, well, thing, and quite honestly, she felt more lonely than ever. She was so lost in her thoughts she didn't realize a few rabbits had ran past her unnoticed and she cursed under her breath to herself. "I'm going to starve if I keep this up!" she exclaimed.

Malachi's approach would be obvious. He was a bit hard to miss, what with being a black smudge in a forest of mostly green. But between the constantly melting flesh around his snout and grasped tightly between his jaw was a rabbit, mangled and bloody from a vicious bite to kill it. Merciless, violent and messy, some bones could still be seen. Thanks to her thinking out loud he soon found she was up above him and came to sit beneath the tree she was in, then unceremoniously dumped the rabbit corpse on the floor.

"You don't need to starve. You can eat this." His tail was wagging and seemed quite pleased with himself over the gorey mess he delivered.

Cleo looked down and saw Malachi, she quickly climbed down from the tree, and poked the dead rabbit with her foot making a squishing sound. "You brought this for me?" she looked at him almost confused, "Why?" She sat down across from him and took out a smaller knife to start removing the fur in front of him.

If she could make it past the saliva slobbered onto it and the bite marks, she would probably have a nice meal. "Because you said you were hungry." That was all there was to it for him. She was hungry, there was plenty of food in the forest, so she could have it. Why not? He watched her skin it, eyebrows sinking forward in confusion, studying what she was doing. Was she chopping it up into smaller parts...?

"And what about you?" she asked, "what are you going to eat?" She continued skinning the animal, tearing the flesh from bone, blood pouring all over her hands and onto the ground. It reminded her of how Malachi was, the dripping ooze tar and what-not. She looked up at him and noted the look of confusion on his face. "What is wrong?" she put the rabbit and knife down in her lap for a moment.

Fenrias Hallvard emerged from a small hatch hidden amidst the brush. He checked his surroundings carefully - listening for disturbances in the foliage and sniffing the air.
