A Ragatran mage, one of the new age of casters!

0 · 1,635 views · located in Eat Out - Tierge's Resturant

a character in “The Multiverse”, originally authored by Moonscar, as played by Sennen

Description

[Under Construction]

Image

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Race: Ragatran Mage

Appearance: Nerio is a bright young man with ash blonde hair that falls right below his earlobes and a face that is only vaguely effeminate, what with his pointed chin and bright eyes. He has a lean build and typically wears anything from leather jerkins and breeches to normal, modern day t-shirts and breezy button-downs. His hands are somewhat calloused, the cause of years using various weapons to fight.

Equipment:

Staff

Spells:

'Holy' Spells: Nerio dabbled constantly into the lighter magics, which often gave the other Ragatran a reason to prod and tease him...that is, until they found out he was quite gifted with healing magic.

  • The Paladin's Threads:Nerio summons golden threads to his fingers that can be used to patch up wounds and cleans them of infection. Not only that, but he can thread it through clothing, as well, to enhance their defensive properties. If he gets creative enough, they can even be used as a weapon against the undead and those who use dark magic.
  • Minor healing: Just as it sounds, this allows for the mage to heal bruises and small cuts.
  • The Warden's Spires: White spires of light will fall down from the heavens and either pin down or surround the target, either defending them or caging them. It can ward off the undead and defend against many spells and attacks.
The second level of this spell, 'The Warden's Prison', takes up so much mana that Nerio has almost never used it. It completely empties his mana reserves from being full. There is nothing more morally challanging than the unguarded mind of a mage, a nascent or unprepared magican that falls into the effect of this spell finds themself stuck in a cage of white light, pale steel, and golden bars. While able to enclose individuals, it is also able to lead people on a morale challenge, posing problems in their minds.
  • Blade of Light: Allows Nerio to unleash a blade of light that flies at the target at an incredible speed. This is part of the Ragatran's 'swift', destructive combat' strategy, much like Fei's Mana Sphere's.

Pyromancy: Though a small-fry in this area, what he can do he does well.

  • Searing Flame: A lance of fire, the Searing Flame can inflict a lot of damage when it hits something directly and can even set objects it passes by aflame from it's heat. Highly accurate, but difficult to use as it is a first rate combat ability.
  • Spiral Blaze: Slamming his palms on the ground, flames will erupt outward in a fiery tornado from Nerio, flaring up with a radius of up to six feet.

Arcane Magic:

  • Mana Split: This makes it so Nerio doesn't have to exert too much physical energy while he fights, using mana reserves that he has pocketed away, instead.
  • Pulse Point Extending his hands outward, Nerio will let off a pulse of energy that can throw back an enemy with frightening force.

    Light Geomancy:
  • Mold: Allows Nerio to manipulate the earth and create structures. None of them are powerful, nor are they big, but it's good enough for hiding out and shielding one from the elements.

"Any human, hmm?" He asked, pushing himself up as much as he could. "You'll be alright? Um...don't...die or anything. That'd be bad. What would I do with your body? It's not like I can just leave it there. It'd be suspicious." Nerio tried to joke, but it came out sounding a little worse for his injuries. "Just...calm down."

"Yeah, certainly are," he said, putting his hand up to his own chest, pressing lightly to figure out which ribs, exactly, had been broken. As he winced, feeling the two damaged spots, he put his hand down, resting on the ground. "Is there anything I could do to help...I can heal a bit..."

"I can't heal anything that isn't an open wound or a bruise, Zach," said Nerio, wiping his cheek. Blood streaked onto his hand, and he was suddenly reminded of the scratches on the side of his face. Definitely not life-threatening, but they stung. "Bones are too complicated to patch up."

"No...it's fine. They'll heal on their own, alright?" He said, raising a hand. "I'm not going to die. It just stings a bit. Not even a problem." Nerio was a stubborn as any Ragatran, though not nearly as bad as Fei. He knew that, even as burnt as she was, she wouldn't allow anyone to see her face as disfigured as it was now. No, she'd be fixing the problem herself.

"Please. It's fine. Really, you'll hurt something more than my injuries if you healed me."

"All of us are mighty proud, you know. All of us. I see you as a friend, sure, but you have to understand...A Ragatran only allows another Ragatran to heal them. Or someone of high standing. It's...stupid. It's really stupid, but that's how it goes."

Nerio had a feeling the soldier wouldn't understand. It was a mage thing, after all, even if all mage's didn't think the same way. He rubbed his face and sighed painfully. "We should get out of here. We need to get moving."

"Yeah, we can call it that," said Nerio, though it was exactly as he said; pride. To be healed by a mere human was insulting. Even the young mage knew that.

As Zachery got up, Nerio followed, albeit a lot slower. He planted his palm onto the tree and rocked forward on his feet, just barely able to stand without killing his ribs. He staggered forward, nodding to Zena. "Alright, then. Come on, come on. Ah...the city seems safe. There's a hospital just in case, right? Yeah."

"Alright, alright, if you think so, princess," he said, a little humor in his voice. He leaned only a bit on Zena, trying not to hinder her, as well. "Um...I have an apartment. Ish. It's small, but it does well. Is that fine?" He asked, arching his head toward the soldier. "Something wrong? Other than your previous attack? You sound a little dead."

"Fine, fine," he said, walking forward. He did his best to ignore the pain, to not rely on Zena too much. That'd be the death of him, it would.
Or...or was he Zachery right now? "It shouldn't be far...c'mon."

"Not too far. Just down the street, we're almost there," the boy told Zachery, noting the odd tone he seemed to be using. Sure, he'd used the same voice when they met, but for some reason it was stranger now. "Just to the side...there it is. Grown level." He said, pointing to an old brick building to the side of Main Street, right between a supermarket and some abandoned building.

As they got to the door, the mage produced something from around his wrist. It was a key, one attached to a chain that he'd wrapped around his arm. He stuck the key in the lock and twisted once, the door flying open as he did so. "Here we are," he said, tiredly looking at the room, which had a bed, a small kitchen in the corner, and one bathroom. Quite cozy if someone liked cramped space.

Nerio squinted a tad bit as he was helped down onto the bed, resting against the wall as he kicked off his scorched shoes. His clothes were ruined, good god. He couldn't wear something like this in public again! It was filled with holes and fried to a crisp in patches!

"I...no. Thank you, Za...um," he looked at her, bright yellow eyes wide. "Zena, I mean. Thank you, Zena. I really appreciate it."

"You look awfully sleepy," the mage noticed, pulling at the sheets to his bed. The second she slid down the wall, he knew where this was going. "Oi, what're people gonna think if you come out here in the morning looking like that, hm?" He joked, slowly throwing a pillow to the spot next to her. He saw how tired she was. Too obvious.

"I mean, you're practically everywhere with those things."

"Go to sleep, Zena. You're tired." Mumbled Nerio, sliding down onto his own bed. Really, a woman in his apartment. People were going to think things. "You look half mad, too. Heh, you should see your...your face."
The mage was also awfully tired, but more from his injuries. His angry skin felt more like a sunburn now, but it was alright. He could deal with that discomfort; it was nothing compared to his shoulder and ribs. As she fell asleep, he peeled one of the sheets from the bed and flung that over to her with his good hand.

"Goodnight, Zena."

It was his first day truly taking classes at Celestia, and Nerio couldn't quite say he disliked it. Even with the stacks of work and the awkwardness that came with being the new guy, he already thought fondly of the school. He walked out into the courtyard, briefly looking around and surveying the popular break spot. He caught the conglomeration of people around the fountain and began to walk past them, looking for an alright place to sit and rest. He didn't know anyone, really, and he hadn't quite caught sight of Aaron, who he had met two days prior.

Right. The awkwardness of being the new guy. It only really mattered during break, right?

Nerio paused mid-step, turning his head to look at the short student. He almost looked around to make sure he was talking to him. "Ah...yeah, I guess that'd be me," he said, scratching the back of his neck somewhat nervously. Someone actually came up to him, for once. First time that day. Not bad.

"The school has been...okay. More than that, actually. It's pretty interesting here...hopefully it'll just keep getting better, too, right?" He offered a smile, eyes squinting.

"Well, there's this one kid, but...um," Nerio licked his lips self-consciously, shuffling his feet a tad before plopping one of his hands into his pocket. He looked to the girl and blinked, holding his other hand out. "I'm Nerio." He said, really trying his best. It was like meeting the Ragatran for the first time all over again, except this time they weren't staring him down like vultures.

"Nice to meet you. Both of you."

"What? Wait, no, that wasn't it, I ju-" the girl cut him off, what with her useful piece of gossip that she'd caught from someone. Nerio looked from one to the other, now crossing his arms. "No, he didn't, I didn't say anything like that," said Nerio defensively. He gave them a stern look, eyes narrowing. That was one thing he'd hoped to avoid; the useless gossip and the sour students that one would encounter every now and then.

"Ah...might you know where Aaron is? I um..." He remembered the slip of paper on his desk in his apartment. "I'd like to speak to him."

The mage stifled a laugh at the girls short joke to the kid, putting his hand up to rub his chin, hiding his smile. He was never usually one to pass up on joked like this, and usually carried it on to make it worse, but he was new here. He had to make a good impression.

His smile vanished when he heard their implication. It wasn't possible that it was that evident, was it? No, how could they jump to conclusions like that? As true as they were. "Ah...no, no, it's not like that, he's...a friend. He just showed me around. I'd like to speak to him again, really." Closeted, but still interested. A sad existence.

Nerio's head shot in the direction of Aaron the moment he heard the cough. His eyes grew wide, and for a sparse moment, his face flushed. Whether or not it was in surprise or something else, it wasn't certain. He watched the two bat back and forth for a while, his thumb digging into his forefinger as Aaron shot the boy down. With a shrug of his shoulders and quick, nervous glance to the floor, he finally spoke up.

"Aaron," he said, flashing a smile. "I, ah...wanted to speak to you." He glanced at the other two students with a glare, then back to Aaron. "Somewhere else."

"Right," Nerio said, following Aaron as he began to depart. That was all very awkward, and he was more than glad to be getting away from them both.
...or maybe not. Jamie had come right back with a spell to summon, and suddenly the holy mage was afraid a small fight would break out. He pulled one of his hands out of his pocket, glowing light collecting at his fingertips. Just as he was about to come back with something horribly vulgar, Aaron took the stage, and the short student was blinded and humiliated with two small spells. Nerio glanced at Aaron once more, a wide smile on his lips. He had to agree with Lisa. He liked the kid's style, too.

As they walked on, Nerio with his hands deep in his pockets, peering back to make sure everyone was out of earshot, he addressed the other boy. "So...I wanted to ask you something," he began, licking his lips.

"Did you somehow know, or were you just shooting in the dark?"
