Sophie X-6

Was it something I said?

0 · 1,529 views · located in Main Street 1

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Patcharoo

Description

Name: Sophie (Last name unknown)
Gender: Female
Age: Eleven
Hair: Light red.
Eyes: Purplish
Test Line: D-4
Designation: A. X-6

'Formally they were a project of an unknown group or individual. I saw not need to change their designation' -Adam

Persona: Still holds a sense of youth and is sometimes easily swayed by those senior to her. She holds a strong dislike of 'fleshies' (individuals unlike herself) and maintains that 'her brother Alex' is going to come back some day, this relation likely being the cause of a sense of abandonment.
Specifications: The following is a list of the installed parts to this unit. For an in depth explanation, see D-4 - A. X-6 specifications manual by Adam Noble.
Impossible Gravitional Device: This technology enables flight, mimicking similar ki-related abilities.
Unlimited Energy Drive: A seemingly impossible machine that generates energy equal to or greater than the energy used. Should it be damaged or run out of energy, A. X-6 will shut down until enough energy has been gathered to continue.
Alloy Fusion Shell: Initially the shell had been designed for mobility purposes, but has since been upgraded to be highly resistant to all form of physical damage, including withstanding multiple close-range shots from armour, plasma and Electro Magnetic Pulse.
Red Power Oil: An odd insistence (but also a convenience) was that the A. X-6 unit runs off a 'blood' oil. A murky maroon-brown liquid courses through their body for reasons of coolant, lubricant and several other basic functions.
Nano-Machine Repair: A left over of their pre-Orion iteration is an uncountable number of nanobots with data allowing them to constantly be repaired and updated. The Nanobots are responsible for the Unlimited Energy Drive, Alloy Fusion Shell and Red Power Oil.
Advanced 'Humanity' Body: A. X-6 is capable of a full range of movement and flexibility higher than that of a normal human being. Additionally, due to the nature of their construction they are immensely strong, fast and may perceive and react to events at a heightened rate.
Palm Nexus Absorption: On the palm of either hand is a concealed device allowing for the absorption of multiple types of energy, including but not limited to heat, electricity and Ki.
Left 'Arm'aments: Concealed within the left arm is a minigun, capable of firing over two hundred bullets a minute. The arm also has the capability to automatically produce these weapons through energy-matter conversion. Favourites of ammunition include High Explosive and Armour Piercing.
Right 'Arm'aments: Concealed within the right arm is a high power rocket launcher and similar energy-matter conversion. Ammunition includes AMRAAM, Cluster Rockets and Incendiary Rockets.

'Adam, while I enjoy a good pun as much as the next man, this is a scientific environment and highly inappropriate. I'd like to see you in my office later.' -Walker.

Sonar Cannon: Concealed in the mouth is a high frequency Sonar Cannon capable of liquefying flesh at close range.
Eye Lasers: Orion tech at its finest, putting a pair of concealed kinetic eye-beams in behind the optical sensors which can in turn amplify or focus the power to a specific point.
Jet Propulsion: High powered jet propulsion allows for rapid change of direction and mobility in the air, or an additional boost of movement.
Internal Bomb: Removed

'Who thought this was a good idea? They're a god damn kid, not a robot.' -Adam.

A smirk crossed Sophie's face at her brothers promise and she shot off into the air with the elated cry of, "C'mon then, try to keep up!" thought doing so wouldn't be a challenge. Her arc took her streaking like a rocket, hurtling over the arena and then down into the seats of the stands, away from other people. She planted her hands next to her thighs as she sat and leaned forward to watch what was going on down below.

It was Aiya, of course it was, in the middle of a match with a mage of some sort. The mage was tossing fire about and Aiya seemed to be doing her best to fend it off with the metal of her gauntlets, running and dodging under the chain of flung fireballs and flameblasts. A blue blade of energy had emerged from the right gauntlet and was parting many of them and the speed she displayed was respectable, for a human, but a close eye could easily tell it was the work of her boots, letting her suddenly burst one way or the other to evade or even break through attacks. The occasionally visible crackle of energy also gave up the fact she had a shielding close to her skin.

"So um..." Sophie said as she leaned back into her seat, legs swinging idly, "I guess I kinda wanna tell you how I met Aiya."

Call it a sense of lethargy, but as Alex took off into the air, he seemingly trailed some behind her. Was he really tired? Not at all. It was impossible, really. Was he mentally worn? A bit considering where his mind really was. He was likely on a form of autopilot as he followed behind her, at her heels and trailing some. As he landed a few steps away, he glanced around and saw the vast array of individuals sat comfortably in their folding cushions, or some on the raw seats themselves. Eugh. The Arena. Another testament to mankind's insufferable, feral, need for some form of absurd amusement.

But it shocked him to see Aiya down there in the midst of a battle. Or did it? Did it really surprise him that his sister would underhandedly find a way for him to have to deal with her yet again? Not at all. Was he going to lose his shit? Not just yet. He'd be a patient and as understanding as he could be for now. His eyes, nearly flawless despite his outdated parts, followed every move, every flinch, with ease as the two quarreled down below.

"Mmhm. Considering you've managed to drag me into her presence yet again, I don't see why not. Go for it." He mentioned, glancing at her from the corners of his eyes. He'd listen. He'd take in every word. He'd ponder on it. And in the end, he'd likely still find himself unaccepting of that woman. First encounters were everything. Are everything.

Sophie's legs slowed in their swinging until they came to a halt. "Well um... When you went missing, I kept hunting the vampire guy and his friends and one of them used some stupid magic trick and turned me into a human." She would have shuddered if her body allowed it, or at least been dry in the mouth. Her head turned to her brother before she continued. "But I didn't want to be human so I found some fleshies that would make me a robot again and I ended up with Orion Industries," she said before looking back towards the fight below.

Aiya wasn't doing so well. Being a melee fighter against such an opponent was really slowing her down.

"And then one day they closed too. I was a robot by then so I didn't mind but I didn't know what to do. I was just standing outside trying to decide when Aiya came up and asked me if I was lost and... I guess she thought I needed to be looked after or something cause then she let me stay with her." Her voice was starting to perk up now, her mouth smiling just a little.

"Aiya's not so bad for a fleshie. I mean, she's got a robot telling her how to be better and she wears all those robot parts. It's like she doesn't even want to be human anyway so she's pretty much not..." the child android continued, as if rationalizing her decision and trying to argue her brother over. A sudden cry came from the crowd as Aiya caught a blast front on and was sent tumbling on the floor. Medics were on the field before she managed to move again and by then the victor was already declared.

"C'mon, fights over. Let's goooooo!" cheered Sophie optimistically as she lifted from her seat and spun in the air to face him, floating slowly away. He wasn't going to get a moments rest under her watchful eyes.

Reflecting on her words, Alex pondered on her situation. She'd been turned into a human by that pathetic wretch of a creature? The thought of it was sickening, but at the same time...quite the opposite. While initially there was detest, there was instead regret. Not regret that it had happened, but regret that she had actually sought out a way to return to what she was now. Little did she know, but despite all of Alex's animosity toward humanity, and sentient-life in general, he was desperately seeking a method to return them to flesh and bone. Truth had it that their lives were over, fate had deemed them finished, but even in the face of such adversity...he wanted to live on, her most of all. To think she'd managed to attain such a thing and instead gave it up to return to artificial life was depressing.

As she dove off again, he continued to ponder on what she'd said. So Aiya had taken her in, as he'd surmised. He was thankful for that much. But in the end, he still didn't like her. She'd treated him in an ill manner. He was a begrudging individual, that was certain. It would take an awful lot to sway him from his established attitude toward her. Coming to the conclusion that he'd remain civil for the time being, he eyed Aiya before his gaze shifted back toward Sophie in defeat. Before she could get too far ahead, he finally lifted from the ground and followed along behind.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Slow down..." He called out as he tagged along. Judging from the fight, she wasn't all that skilled. Or she just hadn't found her niche in regards to her skills. He couldn't tell quite yet. But above all else, he quelled a sigh as he came to the conclusion that he'd been defeated by his sister. Children, be they fleshy or not, could be manipulative little shits. She was no exception.

Slow down? Not a chance! Sophie was off like a very slow rocket in an arc that took her down into the arena walls and over the heads of the crowds, who didn't approve of such a thing but she didn't care! She headed straight for the locker room, landing in front of it and turning around with her hands up. "Wait here," she said to Alex, then darted inside.

It wasn't long before she emerged with Aiya by her side, who was talking with a small smile on her face to the girl, until she reached the door and saw Alex. "What are you doing here?" she asked, though instead of sounding angry she just sounded more annoyed, like he was intruding. She looked a little worse for wear, her hair a mess and a couple of bruises over her body where she hit the ground too hard.

Sophie appeared to be staring between the pair with a small eager smile.

Eyeing his sister for a moment as she displayed such a gleeful look, he couldn't help but narrow his brows in mild irritation, perhaps suspicion. Not so much at her, but instead in regards to the situation. It was telling that rather than immediately retort to what Aiya had said, his eyes instead found his sister. They lingered on her for a moment, artificial orbs studying her with numerous readouts, and other visual themes, apparent within them. Eventually, though, they fell upon Aiya.

"I'm with my sister, Shrew. What does it look like? Why wouldn't I be here?" He exclaimed before dropping a hand to his hip, his other raising in a semi-shrugged gesture. "I'd ask why you're here, but it's evident that you were here to get put through the wringer..." He added with a sudden grin. Leaning forward a bit, almost in a cynical nature, he cupped a hand to his mouth in a mocking gesture. "You're supposed to land hits, not take them." He teased. For once, despite his mocking gesture, he was trying to be civil. It didn't mean he couldn't be somewhat of a critical jerk, though. "Anyway," He suddenly continued. "I'm here at the behest of my sister. She asked that I come along, though was very vague about where we were going, and why. She likely figured I wouldn't come along if I was aware...though she'd be wrong in that assumption." He shot Sophie a sudden glance at that point. "I'd have come along anyway. I might have been somewhat reluctant, but she is my sister...and I will make concessions if I really need to." He finished as he folded his arms across his chest at that point.

Glancing out of the corner of his eyes, though, toward Aiya, he studied her before, again, quelling a sigh so it couldn't be heard. "Great effort, though, in that match anyway..." He bit out, trying his hardest to live up to his sisters expectations of him. "Maybe next time with some hard work and practice..."

It was difficult to be cordial considering how she'd treated him, and he wasn't too expecting of similar behavior in return. But, again, his sister would, and would always be, the most important individual in his life. Rather than fight the current, he'd instead swim with it. Did it mean he'd forego his cruel ways toward sentient-kind? Certainly not. At the first moment he felt so, he'd lay waste to whatever district he felt deserving of his touch. He wasn't done unleashing all his pent up hatred for humanity. He wasn't sure he'd ever forgive them for what they'd done to him, or his sister. Maybe someday, but it wasn't going to be soon unless something miraculous were to happen.

"So. What's the plan?" He suddenly questioned. He had a bit of time to kill. He, nor his sister, had to eat, but considering she was a pesky fleshy, she'd likely find herself hungry after such an event as that. At least he would assume so. Either way, there were options. Snag her food and try to acclimate himself to her being around. Maybe. He could ditch them at any point, really, if he wanted...

Damn, it really sucked having to compromise.

There was a shuffle from Aiya as she stared on with tired impatience and a slight hip-cock, adjusting the strap of her bag that carried all of her equipment. "Well some of us have to work hard to get the things that we want. We don't all just magically get given them," she stabbed back at him, probably the closest thing she had to spite at the time, "So you've come... Now can you go? This is my time with Sophie." She really didn't want to deal with this right now. She really did outright dislike Alex, now that she wasn't on the edge of fearing him. He seemed like a teenage brat

Unfortunately Sophie was insistent, grabbing onto Alex's arms and giving a tug. "Come on, after Aiya's fights we always get ice cream," she said with growing excitement, then pulled one hand away to wag a finger and explain; "It's victory ice cream if she wins and its comfort ice cream if she loses. So far it's four to seven."

Aiya cringed at Sophie's frankness, but she didn't want to upset her. "Alright, let's go," she said with a roll of her eyes, willing to put up with Alex and his wry remarks just this once. Fortunately, nearby, there were plenty of stalls and stands selling the usual assortment of event-foods at high prices for crowds to snack on while they watched, and the ice cream one was nearby.

His silence was deafening as he stood there and took the brunt of what Aiya had to offer. Surprisingly, he managed a rather calm exterior, but on the inside his circuits were, in a manner of speaking, overheating. It was hard enough to bite his tongue and act rational, and well mannered. If she didn't cut her shit, though, he wouldn't hesitate to wrench her head off by her hair and then beat her lifeless body with her head. He didn't tolerate humans as is. She was a privileged exception to the rule alone at the behest of his sister. "Your time? Right..." He bit out, though, unable to suppress everything entirely.

Glancing down at Sophie, he let his eyes fall shut for a moment and offered a mild shrug and a nod. "Fine. Ice cream it is." He mumbled, shoving his hands into his pockets. At that point, all he did was stew on things. Given to him magically? Did she not fucking understand what it cost to get stuck with what he had? Magically given to him. What a joke. They'd died. Were then science experiment toys for a morally corrupt, militarized, government. Of course, a smart individual likely would have called her out on the spot, but he didn't. She seemed like an every day female ponce in her twenties. All the answers, none of the understanding. Perhaps a step over a teenager, but still very much alike.

It was around this time, though, that he caught a few unruly stairs from folks that had taken notice of him. Sneering in return, he wasn't sure what all the gazes were about but it did dawn on him that his obnoxious, and heinous, actions the day prior had been chronicled on the news stations, and he'd been caught on video. It was almost a stupefied look that crossed his countenance then as he curiously wondered if the citizens actually watched the news...

He brushed it aside, though, for now. There wasn't anything a casual citizen could really do, save for contact authorities and considering what he was capable of, he didn't suspect anyone would have the gall to do such a thing. Best thing to do at that point was make his way toward the ice cream stall they'd suggested. The first one his eyes caught had been the destination as his lethargic steps carried him that way. "Given magically..." He suddenly commented rather quietly, mockingly...resentfully, though a chuckle followed.

Aiya did her best to put him out of her mind, wandering over to the ice cream stand and fetching her wallet. "What flavour do you want today?" she asked Sophie.

By this time Sophie had abandoned Alex's hand and had her face pressed flush to the glass. "Can I get the rainbow one?" she asked, lifting her head up to beam to beam at Aiya.
"Two scoops?"
"Yeah!"

Aiya smiled and turned to the woman behind the stall. "Can we get one with two scoops of rainbow and one with one scoop of peppermint?" she asked patiently, then waited for the ice creams to be served up.
However, as Aiya was handing the ice cream over to Sophie, the server looked at Alex and offered, "Was there anything you wanted?"

Since when was Sophie capable of actually eating food? He pondered on that for the briefest of moments before he snapped to attention. "No. I'm good..." He chimed out without a moments hesitation. There wasn't anything he needed, or wanted, at the moment...save for some peace. Some time to gather his thoughts and plan his coming steps. Planning was to be had. There had to be a way to restore himself, though if Sophie had taken the efforts to return to being what they were...well that'd put a kink in things. He'd come to understand she was the most backwards child he'd ever seen. She seemingly favored Aiya over him, her own blood. She'd given up humanity, something ripped from her in the first place, only to become a droid again.

She was young, though. It mattered. But still.

"Androids don't eat. At least I don't..." He finally added, burying his hands deeper into his pockets. He did miss the taste of food from time to time, and drink. One day. After he'd accomplished his goal of unloading all his pent up hatred, frustrations, and absolute anguish, upon the unsuspecting world around him. They needed to understand what came of turning unwilling, even if deceased, individuals into war machines. But it had to be done tactfully just as well. "Sorry." He finished, jerking his head to clear a few strands of synthetic tresses from in front of his eyes. With a glance over at Sophie his brow couldn't help but rise.

"I suppose you can actually eat that then, hm? Courtesy of Orion?" He inquired. That had to be the only logical reason. She'd been re-purposed into android, but considering the fact that it was by a different maker, that meant she likely was a far cry from anything he remembered. She likely had various other armaments then. She could likely be more dangerous than he was, in that case. Frightening notion. "I guess I'm the real loser today..." He finished, poking fun at himself for the fact that out of the three, he'd have to suffer without ice cream.

It was another night on the town, or more of a mid-evening, with Sophie's jets at full thruster launching her through the air as she lead the way across the Wing City skyline hurtling towards a very precise and specific location. Probably the best thing about this night was just how smart she was! But second best was what she got to do! She screeched to a sudden halt, kicking both her feet forward to bring her momentum to a halt.

The jet boosters in her heels weren't her only form of propulsion, but they sure helped close the gap!

"Down there!" she declared with an arm raised to indicate where she was and where she was going, suddenly descending vertically downwards with utter precision that needn't be corrected or compensated. She landed with a light noise of foot touching ground giving a hint at the weight that was actually backing her diminutive frame.

She was absolutely certain her brother would be right on her tail, he was faster than she was, so she didn't feel the need to look around all that much. She just waited a couple of moments before she finally acknowledged where they were. By now most retail shops were closed or closing with only restaurants and clubs still inviting customers in, which meant this little venture involved breaking and entering. Purple optics turned crimson as a fine beam erupted forth to draw a neat person-sized square in the glass, somehow subverting any alarm system that was in place.

"Alex c'mon!" she cried out, finally looking over her shoulder for her brother with a big, beaming grin, "I wanna get some new clothes, and you need some too! You can't wear the same thing every day." That was some Aiya-taught sensibility.

With dusk just upon the horizon, the glinting jewels of the city-scape began to flicker to life. Optics danced from left to right, up and down, as he tailed along behind his sister with relative ease. Who'd have thought getting an upgrade would offer so much benefit? Last he'd known, he'd been nigh perfect. It just went to show that technology truly held no bounds; everything had a point of becoming obsolete. Everything about him; new. Updated AI. Upgraded tech, enhancements, and a brand new shell and entirely new chassis. Hardly anything appeared to be original anymore, save for his dashing good looks.

As Sophie came to a halt just below him, his momentum slowed until it became a hovering crawl. The moment he lingered directly above, he began his descent as she began her own, following as a good brother should. "Hold your horses, jeez!" She couldn't contain her excitement once she'd started. He'd never have a peaceful moment in times such as these. "I'm right behind you!"

Still, he hadn't quite figured out what she'd brought him out and along for. It'd been some time since they'd killed fleshies; for Alex in particular. His level of hatred for them hadn't changed. His inner demons hadn't been quelled, and his morose disposition in regards to it all hadn't dissipated, either. But he also couldn't be anything less than a very acute, older, brother. He could bottle, and shelve, his hateful, vengeful, nature for the sake of Sophie. He didn't like it, but he'd come to the conclusion that the less blood he had on his hands, the happier a sister he'd have. And above all else in this world. On this world. On any world, and in any galaxy. She would always be the most important part of his life, even if he existed as a machine. He valued her above all else, even his inhumanity/humanity and his vengeance.

He watched silently as she ever so casually built her own entrance into a retail clothing shop. Shopping; The five finger discount variant of it at least. It didn't surprise him.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm comin'. I already said it once. Clean your ears, kid." He murmured, trying to keep silent. "Keep your voice down. We don't want anyone to notice us..." He added, glancing around before following her in. She had a point, really. His old, dusty, attire did happen to be in disarray. He may have had a new body, or well...an updated one, but his wardrobe sucked. "Well, if you say so. What do you think I'd look good in?" He questioned with a wry grin.

As long as the colors weren't girlish. As long as the ensemble appeared classy, and sharp, or at least man-sensible.

"Hey, who're you callin' kid?" she challenged with a smirk as she stepped one foot after the other into the building. It was a smaller shop, but it had variety enough, dress wear, casual wear, most of it for adults but Sophie didn't seem to be looking much for herself. She had heard those magical little words of him asking her opinion, and that was pretty much right where she wanted him!

She scooted down one aisle, grabbing a couple of items as she passed, then made a mighty bound back towards him landing on both feet. "Oh-oh, try this on!" she said, offering out a dull red vest and a white long-sleeved shirt, the sort of thing that would normally be paired with a neat tie and-or black jacket over the top, for fancy occasions and going out, "Don't worry, we won't throw out your old stuff, we can take it to the laundromat."

The laundromat had been where the conversation had happened, with one or two innocuous comments being spoken, fishing for information. The unfortunate target of her questions had let slip the key detail; 'Oh I dunno, red I guess?' Gotcha, hook, line and, if Alex suspected nothing and fell for her dastardly plan, sinker!

She scurried back into the shop looking for a few pairs of pants that would probably fit his size, estimates were easy to make when you had actual computing power in your brain, and they would be tossed in his direction, but not before Sophie spied a clock that read the time, quarter to six. Everything was on schedule.

He nonchalantly followed behind her, optics flicking either direction to make sure passersby didn't happen to catch sight and decide to stick their noses into a situation they didn't belong in. "Who else, little mouse." He murmured, poking slight fun at her size. "Or would you rather I call you pint size? Pip-squeak, maybe?" He continued with a small chuckle. He couldn't be none the wiser as to what she'd planned for him. And, to be fair, he did suddenly find an appetite for a new attire. All caught up in his vehement, fiery, desires, he'd forgotten to really live for himself. That is, if one could call it living. Functioning, perhaps.

Whilst she took off down one aisle, he instead broke off and took another route. One of these, this, and one of those; maybe this and that, too. And definitely these! He plucked a vast assortment of items from shelves, even bounding over the aisle-ways themselves to more quickly get around. Only then, when she'd came back upon him, did he already have pretty much everything he needed, or wanted really. Of course, he took one look at her offerings and couldn't help but grimace. "Eugh! Come on! What is that?" He whined aloud, suddenly drawing a hand over his mouth to silence himself. After a moment of respite, realizing no one had heard, he continued. "A dress vest? Why a dress vest!? Oh. I get it. That video game fella. Agent 47, right? Dressing me up like a hitman, right?" He mused with a sudden grin. "Even if you aren't, I think that's what I'm gonna roll with. Just so I can get through wearin' it." He chuckled.

Not long after came the pants, and remainder of the outfit. Dressy. With subtle hints of red. He couldn't help but channel Agent 47 through his head at this point fully. Not entirely perfect as a recreation, but even almost entirely machine, what little bit of his original mind left over still had enough power to imagine things. Having changed, at this juncture, he wandered out and eyed himself up and down in a mirror. "Ugh. I haven't worn one of these things since...well, I was alive." He joked to himself. "You really think this should be a new look for me, or something?" He suddenly questioned Sophie. "It ain't quite my style, but I guess...It could grow on someone..." He mused, squinting some to glance himself over again.

She had to have an angle, he just couldn't be sure what it could be. Then again, she always had been a spontaneous individual. And it likely would never change, either.

"Pipsqueak?" she answered, though she had to admit she kind of liked the mouse comment. Made her seem real sneaky and clever! "Kyle called me Prototype. I gotta to introduce you to all the people I met at Orion! Some of them are pretty cool! I jus' gotta find 'em..."

She was hunting for clothes for herself now, nothing too fancy, a sun dress, a few shirts and pairs of shorts, then she stopped by the shoes looking over the various brands before resolving to visit a shoe store later. She definitely didn't pick out anything nearly as dress-up-ish as what she had given him.

Her head turned around to admire his outfit and generally refreshed appearance. She had half a mind to get a spritzer of water to make his hair look a little better, but she could only do so much! She cocked a hand like a gun and pointed it in his direction. "Pow Mister Hitman," she giggled with playful enthusiasm. She grabbed a bag from behind the counter and started stuffing her pilfered clothes inside, and his old ones too, then it was back to the window entrance.

She paused for a moment, glancing over her shoulder with damn-near a twinkle in her eye before she said, "Ya coming?" Then with a sudden burst from her feet she was launched airborne, setting off the store alarm and causing the glass to shake from the force. She certainly lacked some of the elegance of her old equipment, but it seemed to suit her a bit better. Maybe she would grow out of it. With upgrades.

"Pow, Mister Hitman."

Strangely enough, he couldn't help but smile at the comment. Perhaps there could be serenity found in small moments like these, even for a lifeless droid such as himself. Perhaps someday, soon even, he could just learn to let go of the wrong-doings done to himself. Letting go of what they'd done to Sophie, though, would prove a troublesome task. His fractured memories couldn't be spoken for beyond the moments of his death, for the most part, but deep down, he hoped his relationship with her, and his family, had been wholesome and full. Perhaps his vengeance couldn't be justified, but at the same time, nor could they justify what they'd put the two of them through.

They were children. Meant to lay in rest. Instead, they became tools of war and death. Perhaps they were meant to serve some higher, shining, purpose; death, destruction, and sewing the seeds of mourned loss, though, didn't sit well with him.

In that very moment, a sudden hypocritical epiphany struck him, but he found himself shook from it the moment she questioned if he'd been coming along.

"Yeah, no. I'm right behind ya, Soph. Sorry! I was lost in just how weird this outfit feels and looks on me." He chuckled, pondering to himself. 'To inflict begets the infliction...' followed by a sigh. 'To live and let be, then?'

Like she'd done prior, he snagged a bag and stuffed his own pickings into them before making a dash toward the store-front just as she launched; the resounding force rattling the building and sounding the alarm. A mental face-palm as he took off, his own launch shattering the already fragile glass, left him grumbling about the irony of it all. It took him relatively little time to catch up to her, so he could complain about it audibly.

"How is it you have thrusters and all that jazz, and I don't, but when I launch I shatter windows?" He griped, then rolled his eyes before he shifted the subject entirely. "Just where the hell are we off to, anyway, all dressed up? Some sorta surprise, hm? I don't think there's anything special about today, or tonight, so ya got me..."

Like a brilliant streak she sailed across the sky until she reached the point she had previously marked in her mind, at which point feet kicked in the opposite direction to suddenly slow herself down to a near halt, then finally they flickered off so she could hover steady. She glanced to the side to make sure he had stopped too.

"Cause Orion has really good AI's. They kept saying Adam was a prodigy, but he was a little crazy," she said, making more references to people he had never met, "He was the one that connected an AI to Aiya's brain! Vicky or somethin'..."

She suddenly shut her mouth tight, like she had misspoke, then grinned.

"Hey! We're here, let's go down!" she declared, and at once she started falling. It was more fun to fall than it was to descend, but she would chicken out far from the ground and start properly defying gravity, even if she would do more damage to the ground than it would do to her.

She landed just a few feet away from a cafe table, in full view of Aiya, with a quick comment of, "Hey! I thought I told ya' to get dressed up!"

To her credit, Aiya had made an effort, putting on brown pants that went to the knee, a white spaghetti strap top and a denim jacket over the top in case it was a little chilly. She also had her brown hair down, which concealed the wires that ran into the base of her neck. She raised her head looking momentarily bewildered before she cocked her head with a smile.

"C'mon Sophie, I tried okay? What does it matter anyway."

He had little challenge in following her as they careened through the sky to reach whatever destination sheā€™d had in mind. His mind still coursed over the possibilities, and still came to no conclusion. Perhaps he didnā€™t know her as well as heā€™d thought, then again, sheā€™d spent several years learning new things whilst heā€™d spent just as many collecting dust in a heap somewhere in the underground. Deactivated for some reason, or another. So many years lost out in reconnecting, but that had been then. Now he had all the time he needed to truly devote himself to her.

ā€œOrion, huh? I remember you mentioning them onceā€¦ā€ He began, only to pause at the mentioning of a name he hadnā€™t been familiarized with before. ā€œAdam?ā€ He inquired, only to pause again. ā€œConnected an AI to Aiyaā€™s brain?ā€ He continued, suddenly confounded. So much to try and process with so little context behind it all. ā€œRight. Vicky. Sheā€™s the AI, I take it?ā€ He mentioned only to apply the air brakes in futility. Instead, he air-vaulted over her, tumbling in the air to try and gain some semblance of balance. Hollering out, he stuck out his tongue almost immediately. ā€œA little warning next time! But alright, alright. Lead awayā€¦ā€ He mumbled.

He watched as she took to a free fall, a light shake of his head but a smile fixated on his face. She still held that childish enthusiasm, and a thrill for adventure, no matter how she achieved the results. He followed just as swiftly, falling beside her before slowing his own descent until he landed upon his twos with a gentle ā€˜takā€™ of either footfall. It dawned on him then, though, that she had indeed been scheming the entire time. Her words to Aiya spoke volumes.

Heā€™d been duped. Fooled entirely. The outfit hadnā€™t been for her, or for him. It didnā€™t take a genius to understand where sheā€™d intended for this to go. One could have surmised that sheā€™d planned for the three of them to have fun, but the fact sheā€™d thrown him in a fancy getup whilst she dressed down, albeit nice enough, and expected Aiya to dress up just as lavish? Well. Again, it didnā€™t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together.

ā€œReally?ā€ He questioned for a moment as he stood there, glancing Aiya up and down. With a single thumb thrown in the third wheelā€™s direction, his brow arched dangerously, albeit a frown didnā€™t appear as had been expected in times passed. ā€œWas this your master plan, Sophie?ā€ He murmured. He couldnā€™t help but thrust his hands into his pockets at this point and suddenly throw his head back, eyes rolling, as he silently lamented and bathed in his woes. The only positive thing he could take from this? She did at least look nice. But he couldn't dare say such a thing. Never.

He still found a dislike for the girl. Her instantaneous hatred of him upon their first meeting. The way sheā€™d meddled in his family affairs. The way sheā€™d tried to cleave them apart. He despised it all. He despised her. With a ferocity unbridled. He could almost truly say he hated her. He did hate her. Or, well. Then. It would have been a lie to say he hadnā€™t forgotten about her somewhat in recent times, but heā€™d left Sophie to her own devices and spent time with her accordingly when he had chance opportunities. Heā€™d relinquished some hold on her, opting to avoid controlling her as heā€™d likely done in the past without truly realizing it.

She didnā€™t have to be him. She didnā€™t have to become him. His demons were his own and heā€™d be a monster to shove those very demons onto her shoulders and expect her to react as he did. He still hated humans, so vehemently so. But that ever present conundrum continued to rattle around in his head. And at the end of the rope, so to speak, he realized that Aiya, no matter how much of a petulant annoyance she could be, and no matter how invasive sheā€™d been to his and his sisterā€™s life; she had given something to Sophie that he could not.

Proper guidance. A friend. A new lease on life, really. A vision far from the one heā€™d presented.

He knew her angle, and why sheā€™d interfered; steering Sophie away from him at every turn. Dejected back then, sure that had been him. Angry, and spiteful, most definitely. But it all came full circle. Sophie deserved better than Alex could give. And with all that had come to pass, now he gave his most valiant effort at being better for her sake.

This episode here would prove to be another obstacle to attempt to overcome. No matter how sour a taste it left in his mouth.

ā€œColor me curious, I guess.ā€ He finally spoke up. He tried valiantly. So exponentially hard, and still he faltered somewhat. ā€œBut of all peopleā€¦ā€ He murmured, a sullen pout somewhat visible on his features. He even went so far as to gesture with both arms, his shoulders slouched as if defeated. ā€œYou know she absolutely hates me.ā€

Sure. He could be petty, too. Shift the guilt somewhere else. Anywhere else. Anyone else but him, to be precise.

The look on Aiya's face, the shift from pleasant surprise at Sophie finally arriving to utter disdain said it all. Lips went from a curled smile to dead flat and her eyebrows lowered until they were at the most neutral level they could be at. Oh she did not like Alex one bit. She wasn't sure if she even hated anyone, but he was pretty damn close. And she was trying so hard to be reasonable.

"Oh thank you so much for dropping Sophie off," she spoke with such sweet sincerity it had to be put on, but it was all going over Sophie's little head.

The girl, to her credit, seemed to be positively proud, like a peacock flaunting its success with breast puffed out and feathers swept neatly behind itself. Words contrary to Sophie's mood washed over her like water against ancient stone that it had failed to erode over thousands of years and wasn't about to change now!

"Oh he's not dropping me off," she said with burbling giggles in her throat, scooting about to Alex' other side with a prompting little push, "Take a seat!" she insisted, before she said the worst words of all "I'll be right back!"

She wouldn't be satisfied until he was seated, and was he was she was satisfied completely, and would wave and bid a hasty escape, launching into the sky much more gently this time, drifting up up and away towards the city skyline to disappear among the buildings, no doubt to watch with legs dangling from some far perch, like the proud peacock she was.

Aiya barely moved the entire time, her eyes locked onto Alex in an unending and unwelcoming stare. The only part of her that did move was a single hand. On the table was a glass, drained of its contents except ice by a straw, which fingers now tightly wrestled with. It was raised, then brought down, jabbing gently at the ice to jostle it, forcing it to clink and rattle in the cup, and again, and again. All the while she stared.

He could read her face as easily as a child could understand a picture book. Her unwelcoming visage explained all he needed to know. Their feelings about one another were quite mutual. In fact, if she even sought to purse her lips anymore sheā€™d likely look like she had none. He couldnā€™t help but sigh at her passive aggressive words, but took them in stride regardless. He took a moment to try and think up some quip of sorts, but before he could get a word in edgewise, Sophie had already cut him off.

ā€œWhat!?ā€ He yelped as she shoved him into a seat, prompting him to try and straighten his attire without tumbling backward out of the seat with the force sheā€™d thrown him into it with. ā€œW-wait, where are you going? Donā€™t just leave me like this!ā€ He cried out only to realize just how futile his attempt had been. Wonderful. Now what the hell could he do?

He watched as she scooted off until the little dot she appeared to be seemed to blink out of visibility, his built in scanners returning blank signals in the wake of her departure. Sheā€™d left him to the wolves; one in particular. One he couldnā€™t figure out how to begin to try and break the ice with, pun not intended.

While he held a great disdain for her, he still couldnā€™t fault her for her actions. His eyes lingered on her, lightly bouncing from her face to the actions she took with her straw. It probably could have appeared to be unsettling, but he truly seemed to be in heavy thought on what to say or what to do with the situation at hand. He likely looked puzzled, as he truly had been. What did he say? What could he say? Ultimately it boiled down to one thing. His pride, or Sophieā€™s giddy intentions. What held more value? Easy answer.

ā€œSo, I guess she just went and leftā€¦ā€ He murmured aloud. ā€œDid you have any idea sheā€™d been plotting this?ā€ He lightly questioned, trying his best to sound sincere, rather than smart-assed or condescending. ā€œProbably not, since she went and had you dress up too, hm?ā€ He chuckled. He could only liken this to trying to tread lightly on broken glass, with arms full of fine china. He had no confidence, though. For one meant to be the pinnacle technological achievement, his nerves, if one could call them that, were surely rattled. He didnā€™t want to disappoint Sophie.

ā€œIt shows, though.ā€ He finally added. ā€œYou look nice. Better than me stuffed in this silly getupā€¦ā€ He finished, fingers gingerly tapping on the tabletop. He couldnā€™t help but rest his chin in his open palm now, elbow propped on the table. He hadnā€™t even thought to fix his disheveled hair; he probably looked ridiculous.
