Rini stepped in after him, looking about cautiously. She had heard stories of desert raiders that hid in places like these, and she was fully alert... She looked around, ears a little more tuned then normal, eyes remaining sharp as they swept over the buildings...
"Looks like they left in a hurry," he pointed out while he looked at a smashed barrel and tipped a turned vase back up, which had been knocked over and spilt precious water all over the sandy floor.
"You stay here and keep a look out. I'll go and check these buildings."

Rini was about to tell him not to, but he hurried off and she sighed, continuing to listen and watch... nothing to could escape her eyes and ears, not with amplified magical assitance. ¨An awefull hurry...¨
A few minutes later, Lysin returned with a wooden cart. On it was a figure covered by a sheet of murky white; flies buzzing around it.
"I found him dead by the back wall... Had his throat cut. Looks like whoever was here were all killed or moved on."
He continued to pull the wheeled cart towards the door, which he pushed open and made to tip the body out to tumble down into the dunes.

Rini frowned at that, covering her nose with a hand. Her senses were all heightened, and the stench... she almost got sick. ¨Raiders m-maybe...? Perhaps... we should not linger here?¨ She felt the death in the air, like there were more there... or it was just the recently disposed of.
"I agree, but at the same time, it would be wise to rest and recuperate. There's a barrel of rice and some salted meat in those buildings, plus some pitchers of water. I haven't seen these men anywhere, even when I climbed to the wall to look around on all horizons. We're safe for a few hours, I'm sure. Enough to eat, rest and drink."

Rini nodded slowly at that, her stomach growling loudly again. ¨Y-Yes, food would be a good idea, I'm starved.¨ Rice and meat, she could cook that! ¨Allow me to make it? I mean... I feel useless so far, least I can do you know?¨
"That's fine. I should keep a look out anyway," he said as he scrambled up a nearby wall and sat upon a low roof, where he could lean against a second, even higher wall and look over the archway that made the gate to see the desert beyond.

Rini hurried off to where she smelt the food, grateful there was atleast someplace for her to cook it... She scrounged around for a pan, then got the fire ready, using a little magical help to get it going faster before she got to the meat, ready to cook it. She borrowed a few spices, wanting to make it like she had at home... She got a pot and added water from the jar, having smelled and tested it before putting it in the pot to boil...
"I'm lighting a fire in the courtyard!" He called down to Rini as he slipped from the roof and began to look around for something to relight the fire.
He stripped some wooden planks away from the cart to use as fuel and eventually found some sort of flint which he hacked against stone until sparks lit the courtyard in flames.

Rini was just about to put the pot on the hook and the pan on the fire, when he called. ¨Okay, supper is cooking!¨ She found a wooden spoon dusting it off for good measure then went back to the fire, putting the pan over the flames, the pot hanging. It was fair sized hearth, so she could multitask...
In that moment, a plank was pulled quietly from the ground and used to hit Lysin over the head; who crumpled into a heap on the sand floor not far from the fire; clearly unconscious.

Rini wiggled her tail, she loved cooking... she twirled a finger, the spoon stirring the rice and her other hand moved the meat around the pan... when she heard the sound of the plank hitting Lysin she froze, spoon coming to her hand and she knelt still, watching the food... waiting... Right when she sensed something approaching she spun around, amber eyes alglow, to see...
The lizard suddenly lunged. An anthropomorphic body adapted to bending light became visible as a brown and yellow reptile. He made to push Rini with clawed hands; away from the pan and the stove and into the wall to pin her.
Rini was stunned by the sight of the lizard that he would managed to pin her to the wall.. She stared wide eyed before struggling, pulling her legs up to try and push the lizard in the gut with her powerful legs. She knew it! She knew that there was something unsafe still here! She should have opted to do a search...
The lizard growled as he was pushed, but even as he was forced to let go, he attempted to make sure she didn't get away without being scratched by his sharp claws.
Not that it made much of a difference, because the double doors were audibly busted open and three spear-wielding, human warriors burst into the building behind the lizard; weapons pointed menacingly at Rini.

Rini trembled, feeling her power get out of control... and all her gems were at home, nothing to control the power bubbling to the surface. She had been scratched across her abdomin, she could feel the blood trickle down and with an angry shout she raised her hands, quickly charging up those orbs in her hands... and sending one at the lizard, another large one to shove the humans back. ¨No! Don't touch me!!¨ She was more ferocious to the beastman... she knew their kind was far more dangerous...
The lizard darted sideways and backed into a wall in order to avoid the orb aimed at him, while the humans had mixed reactions. Two backed away and raised their spears defensively, while the third made to stab it with the tip of his weapon, as though hoping it would dispell.
No matter though, they were all pushed back eventually, until they were forced to move out of the door and outside.

Rini was unable to surpress it, and her mind sank into survival mode. She must defend... She aimed at the lizard man again, before aiming to push the men out of the door, the orb going from purple to red...
The humans backed out into the court yard and towards the fire, while the lizardman scooted up the wall and across the ceiling; defying gravity with his adapted hands and feet.
The lizard crawled down to Rini's other side, then attempted to knock her to the ground with a hefty slap of his right hand. However, he was stopped short by shouts from outside.

Rini had not expected something like this... to actually stop her abilities dead. She didn't really care that much... did she? Not matter what, the thought of someones death being her fault stopped her cold, and she darted out into the yard. ¨No, don't hurt him!¨ she knelt down, holding hands up, a unique surrendering gesture but one she had learned.
"Sit down by that wall and keep quiet!" One of the humans snapped, keeping his spear upon her threateningly while the other two dragged the waking Lysin onto the cart. He struggled a little, but was eventually let loose to sit up and rub his head with a groan. Spears were on him, too.

"The boss'l be here soon," the lizard said with a thick accent. "So keep quiet 'til then, y'hear?"

Rini ignored him entirely, eyes focussing on Lysin, able to see him just in the dim fire light. Her haze was apologetic, like this was all her fault. It felt like it, she really wished she had done her own search.... She heard the lizard, and glanced at him angrily, before looking down at her stomach, it hurt... oh! The cut! She placed her hand to the injury, no light to signify she was using magic to heal it..
"Lads, it's Hare!" One of the humans called out as he stared out of the partially open door and out into the desert beyond the courtyard.
At that point Hare, who was indeed a Hare, stepped in through the gates. He wore an open, eastern-style vest and specially woken pants that fit his unique anatomy. They also kept him cool in the sun.
"What's going on?" The Hare asked as he nursed at blood stained left arm with careful fingers.
"Found some scavengers helpin' themselves to our things," the lizard replied. "They cast Jingo's body out into the dunes, mos' disrespectful like."
"Also Boss, we found you some entertainment. Thought you might be able to use it after the fight earlier today," the man over Rini said with a grin as he gestured down to her. "She's your type right?"

Rini put her arms over her chest, wishing she had her clothes.. she doubted she would even have the time to get them on before something happened. This bikini style outfit was not cutting it... and would not help her situation further. ¨W-We came to investigate, we were just staying here for a few hours!¨ she spat defensively, trying to push the previous words out of her mind...
