The New World: Volume 1

The New World: Volume 1

0 INK

Almost all of Earth’s resources were used up and there was talk of apocalypse until The New World was announced. This new invention called The New World was supposed to be the answer, but all new problems came about with The New World.

872 readers have visited The New World: Volume 1 since GamerX created it.

Introduction

The end of the world came in a way not everyone expected when the resources ran out on Earth. In response before this happened, machines were created that were easy to use and reduced the need for the use of resources. The machines ran off of a complicated battery that charged as it ran. When someone goes to sleep for the night in the virtual world they leave the machine and can get something to eat before they themselves head to sleep in the real world. The exact way these machines work was out of comprehension for all but the developers, so the details were never really fully explained.

Sure it took a while to get started but those that accepted this new way of life didn’t even need to consume more than 1/1,000th of the nourishment they normally did. There were skeptics about this but the new law forced them to use it or be sent to prison where they would get one meal a day containing only of one glass of water and a few vegetables. All those that were already in prison were either given the same option to join in The New World or be executed; some prisoners however didn’t get an option and where executed on the spot. It may seem harsh but this was for the survival of mankind, and many decided to take this over the insured punishment they would have if they refused.

Inside this world people at least the age of 16 were given a choice on what type of world they wanted to live in. All those not 16 or older were placed with their parents until they became 16 and were given the choice to change where they wanted to live the rest of their lives. The different worlds ranged in difference from the normal world that they lived in without any change other than the worry of life, to a world where reality itself was more like a dream than The New World they now lived in. One thing no one had to worry about though is losing themselves in The New World since each time they returned to one world or the other they were informed one message or the other corresponding to which world they were entering. The message ‘Now Entering The New World. Please Heed Caution As Needed.’ would be displayed when entering the virtual world. When leaving the virtual world the message ‘Now Entering The Real World. Please Rest Well And Be Sure To Eat Your Meal.’ would appear for the person to see. To be sure these were noticed there was a voice that read this for each person and there was no way to skip the message. Even though there were some people that became lost in the virtual world while they were in it the message they would be forced to see each time would remind them of what was going on.

That was the year 40,719 AD; now it is 41,134 AD and things are going smoothly. Nothing is out of place and these machines never seem to break down. People are able to reproduce like normal (though the exact details on how this happens are not fully known) and their kids are taken care of in the real world until they reach five years of age. They are then placed with their parents in the virtual world. From birth they are transported to the city where one of the two parents live (decided by the parents) and live in the real world with one of the parents starting at four months. They are taken care of by two androids that are lent to each family until the child enters the virtual world. The androids are created to resemble the real world form of the parent they live with and the virtual world parent they do not. Linguistic barriers were still a problem, but this was to add a little bit of realism to the virtual world. In addition each child was taught two languages; one from each parent. It was common to teach the one that they both knew (if any) and then one other that the parents chose.

From the age of seven they were told to choose ten worlds that they found interesting and were to choose two races from each world to start learning about them. In addition to these they learned about other various things that applied to their world and their race in addition to basic skills for lines of work in all these places. From all of these they were to choose where they would live at age 16. Then once they lived there for five years they were given the choice change to another place they learned of. After this they were to remain there for the rest of their life.

Toggle Rules

Follow the character skeleton exactly. You may use mine as an example once it is up if you want. You can also add more to it if you wish.

Tell us about at least one addition family member; this can range from anything about a family pet to an actual person.

Bold each section within the different areas. (i.e. Name:, Likes:, Weapons:, Parents:, ect.)

Be creative with your characters and if you’re not sure about something then go ahead and ask me.

I will only accept up to six characters and will not take reservations. I will inform everyone when we are full in the description. Keep in mind I don’t go by first come first serve and might accept you if someone else leaves.

This will be what I am going to call a ‘Series Roleplay’, meaning that there will be other roleplays with a similar name that take place in a different world. However, the next world won’t be made until this one is complete. If someone wants to create a new roleplay that is a part of this series contact me in a message before starting it.

Yes your character can be used in the next roleplay in this series if you want.

Post with at least five lines. There will be no exceptions after your fist post. The first post must be at least three lines.

Post at the minimum of one time every other day after your first post. If you are waiting for a reply and you have reached your two day mark then post again and continue passed them. To add to the fun add in something that refers to the other person not responding if you want.

I go by three strikes and you’re out. But don’t think that means everything counts as one strike. If you break a rule the first time it is one strike. Break the same rules twice and it brings you up to three total strikes. And yes I will keep track of all strikes.

Only make one character unless I inform everyone that a second may be created.

I am looking for one person to become my Assistant GM. Your job will be to help keep up with who is breaking rules. You may send messages to give warning that you are going to message me but I am the only one that can give strikes and decide when a character is booted. I will also keep an eye on the Assistant GM. Talk to me in a message if you would like to do this. Current Assistant GM:

If you can’t post for some reason or another then tell us ahead of time. I know that computer break down sometimes but I will still go by the strikes and consider things when you come back. If you come back and things are too far ahead I request that you say so and back out on your own.

I am a nice guy don’t get me wrong, but I can be a demon of pure evilness when I have to be so be kind to everyone and follow the rules. If you can do these things we will get along just fine.

No invincible characters that can never be beaten and always beat their opponents. There is always someone better than you at something or another.

The theme for this Series of The New World: Think of settings and races from MMO’s like WoW, PW, Shaiya, and things like that. If you don’t know what I am talking about then check out the linked Wikipedia sites to those three for an idea. If you want you can use those names for the races as your character’s race. (Make sure to give credit to the MMO you used the race of if it isn’t something like Dwarf, Orc, ect. which are common throughout myths and legends.)

Re: [OOC] The New World: Volume 1

The technology level will be at current day technology. However there are sections of the world that the technology is quite useless and doesn't work. This will force the characters to rely on their own skills at times as well. Try to keep character races as close to what they would normally be as you can. In other words it is more likely to find a human living in a city rather than a Elf that is highly in tune with nature.

Re: [OOC] The New World: Volume 1

I plan on submitting a character, but I'd like to know- do we have to stick to a certain era when making our characters, or can it vary? For example, would we have to stick to the Wow-esque era, where everything is underdeveloped, or could we use futuristic, medieval, etc?

Re: [OOC] The New World: Volume 1

I am going to complete my character tomorrow. For now I am heading off to sleep early since I have to get up early. -groans because I don't like mornings and prefer the night.-
