The sun had just begun setting over the treeline in the distance. The forest was plunged into twilight, and this was the time Jinx liked best. He pushed the lid to his coffin open, pulling himself up and out onto his wooden floor. He stood, stretched, and turned towards his closet, pulling off his pajamas as he went. By the time he was changed into his tee shirt and skinny jeans, the forest was nearing dark, fireflies just beginning to flicker outside. Still barefoot, he opened his door and stepped out onto his small porch, taking in a deep whiff of the forest air.
"Hey!" he called, loud enough to echo in the distance, "Don't tell me you're all asleep already. Where are you guys?"
