Introduction
What happens to a person once they die? Are they given their heavenly reward, or their just desserts? Do they simply cease to exist, or do they live on, among us but unseen. And what of ghosts? Spirits and demons and the occult? is any of that really true, or are they just stories created to keep us in line during our youth?
The truth is hard to believe, harder for some than others. The truth is, several things may happen when a person dies, and that all depends on the Othersiders, an organization of those who have passed on from the world of the living only to find a more fitting purpose in death. They are the ones who sent souls to heave or drag them to hell, they are the ones who hunt down the demons and destroy them before they can corrupt others. They are created by chance and live forever, if you can call it living. Everyday they deal with death. They are always the first ones there when someone dies or get killed, Sometime even before it happens.
Remember, if you feel someone walking over your grave, one of the Othersider may be close at hand, and you very well die before the day is over, or watch it happen to someone else. And it's hard to say which might be worse.
The Othersiders are made up of four divisions. Reapers are the ones we humans call the Grim Reaper, or simply Death. They appear when one is close to death, yet go unseen by most until the act has played out. It is their job to send a new spirit in the right direction. They can either send them on to the Other Side, where they will face judgment by a council of Higher Ups, and recieve either their reward or punishment, or give them a contract to sign. This contract allows them up to three years to shake free from the bonds of this world, right whatever they may have wronged, see their loved ones once more. If they decline, or skip out on their contracts, or simply run away, the Hunters get to deal with them.
Hunters are like the bounty hunters of the Othersiders, except with no pay. They are sent out to either bring in those who skipped out on a contract or ran away. In most cases they simply being them to the Other Side with a bit of force, but in some cases they must destroy those spirits. This can be either because the spirit simply refuses to go and leaves no other option, or because their souls have broken down and started to, or already have, become a demon. There are only two options for a spirit that has begun to break down, and that is to send them to a Savior.
The job of a Savior is, as you might have guessed, to save spirits. In most cases they have the power to restore a spirit back to its normal state, at least long enough to stand trial. However, on occasion they cannot be helped, and so a Savior must take mercy on the poor beast and destroy it anyway. They don't like to do this, but sometimes it must be done.
All of these positions are filled by spirits who have come to the other side with a unique balance or imbalance of spiritual strength and energy. Their levels of both determine their jobs, but it is up to the spirit itself to decide weather it wants to stay and move between worlds ot to pass on forever to one end or the other. All of these positions must also be balanced, otherwise one position would be over populated and they system of handling spirits and demons would fall apart. And no, I didn't forget the fourth position. The forth position is that of a Higher Up, An old, sometimes ancient spirit, who has survived it's position in the Other Side long enough to know how to judge a spirit justly.
There are those, however, who are something beyond the Othersiders. Once they were human, most of them, but their spirits were never tended to, or they rejected their fates, and were strong enough to resist being sent on to the Other Side. These spirits can only either be destroyed or sent to hell for the rest of eternity, and they are so powerful that even the best of the Higher Ups fear them. They are known as Shade Souls, and some are more powerful than any Othersider. More influential than the Reapers, more skilled than a Hunter, and with more control than than a Savior. And there are more of them than anyone knows, and they want revenge. For what exactly, no one knows. Maybe the Higher Ups know more about them then they let on.
-=-=-
So basically this is it- there is another world among our own, where these beings rule. This is their story, one which you will take part in, either as a Reaper, Hunter, Savior, or maybe even a Shade Soul, or a new spirit full of potential. Currently one of the Higher Ups has made a deal with one of the most powerful Shade Souls, but when he goes back on his word the Shade Soul wants revenge, and if he succeeds bother worlds will crumble.
Reapers-
Have a balance between Spirit Energy and Strength. They are forever marked by the would that killed them, as most are born from the tragic death of of a strong individual. When they venture into the world of the living they appear in a black cloak with a hood and a white mask that looks similar to a skull hiding their face. They wield large scythes that have the ability to open portals between worlds. If they must appear to the living they appear in all black, just as they were when they were alive, however no one can ever remember how they look later, as if their faces had been covered by a haze
Hunters-
Have more Spirit Strength than they do Energy, which makes them the most human of the group. They can use a variety of weapons on their duty, however they do not have the ability to open portals, and must rely on the help of a Reaper to get from one world to the other. Unlike Reapers they have no set uniform, and when in the world of the living they still seem human, meaning they can be seen and hard by living and dead alike, however their faces can never be remembered either. They are the most simple of the three.
Saviors-
Have more Spirit Energy than Strength. They wield no weapons and no not travel between worlds. They always wear white robes when working with spirits but regularly where whatever they like and a white cape. They have the ability to, what we might call, cast spells. Using their energy alone they can manipulate elements, bind spirits, or destroy with a single word or flick of the wrist.
Shade Souls-
They work differently than any of the other listed above. Some have abilities similar to one of the three above, some how all abilities, some how completely different ones. All that is known about them is that on average they are much stronger than their Othersider counterparts, and that they can communicate with demons, as well as turn weak spirits into them.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 1 authors
Setting

"And what if I say I want your life, huh?" one of the three other men, gangster types with bandanas and tattoos, smelling like smoke and beer. "Can I have that Mr. Big Shot?"
"Please, I have a wife...and a little girl at home!" the man said, frightened.
Vincent watched with sad eyes as the man up front, the one with a pistol, shot the man. Maybe he thought the innocent man was pulling a gun as he went for his wallet, Vincent would never know, but whatever it was the gangster had fire, single shot, right into the man's face. He actually had to keep from smirking as he noted his partner, and former master, Leon also had a similar mark from where he was assassinated in his past life.
"Well, let's get to work Wolf." Leon said, watching as the men walked off, leaving the body where it lie, the money forgotten. "Maybe this guy won't bother us much. I was in the middle of a nap when I got the call, what about you?"
"Solitare." Vincent answered simply as they made their way over to the body.
They had to wait but a moment before the errie pale blue mist began to rise up from the body, the soul in it's purest form. It was like a wisp of smoke come to life. Soon it stayed still and began to grow, to take the shape of the man it had been only seconds ago. The spirit of the man looked around, suprised that he was standing, then shocked when he realized that he really wasn't/ He began to cry then, and as Vincent reached out to comfort him Leon interupted.
"Sir, you have just died. This is a tradegy, and I am very sorry, but you must move on and leave your old existance behind." Leon said, reciting a loose version of the speech all Reapers had to give to the new spirits. "It is best that you, at this very moment, agree to come with us, the Reapers, to the Other Side, where your soul may find peace and recieveit's final reward or punishment."
Vincent sighed. He hated when Leon did this, but it always seemed to work. A new spirit is often confused and in need of guidnce, and one this fresh may not even remember anything about it's life. And so the spirit simply nodded, frowning, and watched in awe as Leon opened the portal between worlds. together, the two stepped through the gate, and once both were through completely, it snapped shut, as if it has never been, as if Leon no that man's spirit had never set foot on the planet Earth.
"Always leaving me to inform the authorities..." Vincent said, annoyed, as he took off his mask, turning it into a small charm that hung from the chain that connected his useless wallet to his pants, even as they appeared as his cloak dissapeared.
