Full Name: Richard M. Carvale
Nicknames: If any at all?
Age: 26
Birthdate: 10/23
Home Town: Chicago, USA.
Sexuality: Gentlemen.
Appearance: He generally prefers a nice suit, usually slate gray with a similar tie, as well as a black top hat (which he usually doesn't wear if he doesn't have to).

Protector or Mage? Mage. He's not in it for greed or power or anything, though- He's in it for the human race. With the power of the Ruby, he intends nothing more than to improve the standard of living for -everyone- on Earth. The people, he believes, need that power.
Power: He has three powers.
  • Iron Control - The ability to lift and launch small pieces of iron; AKA, nails, screws, bolts, that kind of thing. - He needs to be within five feet of the iron to lift it, in a sphere around him, but has fairly good focus and can pick up many at once. However, he can only take one action at a time- He could launch them all, or use them as a shield, but not both.
  • Puppeteer - The power to command specially made puppets. Each one bears a mask marked with the symbol of a tarot arcana. They aren't very strong, nor very big- Perhaps three foot tall. However, they're fast, and intelligent enough to be a nuisance. Some of them have been lost or destroyed over time, so only 13 of 22 remain. They are stored in protective suitcases, and he can only deploy one at a time. Puppets in bold were brought with him to New Orleans- The rest are stored back in Chicago, to be brought to him if necessary.

0 The Fool - A weak, simple puppet, but one able to pull itself back together if destroyed. Carries a hatchet.
    1 The Magician -
5 The Hierophant - A protective puppet, it clings to its target's shoulder and surrounds them in an antimagic shield. However, it is pitifully small and weak otherwise, and easily destroyed by a physical hit.
6 The Lovers - A strange-looking puppet that resembles two glued back to back. It walks in a crablike motion and has bladed hands and feet.
8 Justice - A puppet with a crossbow built into one arm.
9 The Hermit - A stealthy puppet with a stiletto knife. Able to move silently, it is more likely to run from a failed kill than try again.
11 Strength - A large puppet made of steel, it's far stronger than its size would imply. It has hammer-like hands.
12 The Hanged Man - A marionette, the true 'puppet' is actually at the other end of the strings, a crawling spider-like creature that hangs on ceilings. The marionette is only a hologram of sorts, a projection for combat.
13 Death - A thin, featureless wooden figure, similar to those used by artists to deal with pose and perspective. It has the ability to observe an area, finding hidden people and doors.
16 The Tower - A puppet with a wild wooden grin, it fights with mad abandon and wields a cleaver. If destroyed, it will explode.
18 The Moon - Able to induce visions of madness and terror when looked at. It looks like a male figure with huge eyes, with horrific pictures reflected in them.
19 The Sun - Able to calm and sedate the mind when looked at. Resembles a female figure with huge eyes, with peaceful vistas and soothing images within.
20 Judgement - A puppet able to repair the others, if they're intact enough. It can only fix one a day, and only if their head is intact.
21 The World - The most powerful puppet, but also the most unpredictable. Richard cannot use it, because its activation would mean his death. He has no idea -what- it would do, as a result. But, judging by its arcana, it'd be impressive.

[*]Tracking: Richard is able to find the general location of people using samples of hair or blood. The more he has, the more accurate it is. However, he only gets one glimpse per use, and the sample is consumed afterwards. It can also be warded against fairly easily, at which point he can perhaps only tell the state.

Likes: Socialism, helping humanity, the world, dancing, wine.
Dislikes: Dictators, cowards, cynical people, religious fanatics, traitors.
Fears: That he might be wrong and humanity is not able to use the Ruby for its own good.

Personality: Richard Carvale only wishes to help the world. It's truly his singular goal- As an idealist and a socialist. While he acts smug in his beliefs, and rather condescending to those he feels he can outwit, he genuinely wishes to use the Ruby's power to make the world a better place. After all, all it was doing before was sitting in a temple! It would be much better used in the hands of the people. He's cheerful and strange as well, saying and doing bizarre things. He tends to treat everyone as an equal- Even those who are his superior. This fact causes a bit of tension with more powerful magi, but at the same time gives him a wide rapport with the lower ranks. He never seems to be ill-at-ease, always confident and upbeat, but he has been known to show anger or disgust at certain things or people. He has a tendency to psychoanalyze people to annoy them.
History: The son of a Chicago factory worker, Richard grew up watching the oppression of the working man, and at the same time seeing what people can accomplish in such conditions. Inspired by his father's altruism and good will, Richard vowed to become someone who could help those kinds of people... However, fate had other ideas. His father was killed in a strike gone wrong, and he discovered his family's legacy- Twenty-two puppets, and various spells of old magic... Among his father's possessions, however, he also found a document that led him to learn of the Ruby's existence. Since then, he has focused his efforts on obtaining the Ruby, and a few short weeks ago he succeeded- Almost. He was involved in the raid that came so close to obtaining the ruby. All of his careful planning went down the drain when a mage was able to send the Ruby elsewhere, and he lost many of his dolls in the ensuing escape. Only now has he finally tracked it back to New Orleans, and met with others who have come to the same conclusion. Emer is his assistant- He supports her combat skills with his puppets.
Anything else?: Nope! All's well. Bananarama.

So begins...
