Rooke knew for a fact that the bear totem was going to look cool, just by the description of what it'll help him do. He looked at the old talisman and continued to beam widely. "I promise I'll never take it off!" Rooke exclaimed, instantly tying it onto his neck. When Tyson asked him to leave he nodded in understanding. He stared at Tyson for a split second, hesitation in his eyes before he quickly gave Tyson a tight hug. He then released the only other boy in the flock, and sprinted out of the room. "Addy I got a cool bear neckless from Tyson!" The 10 year old yelled in joy, running to look for the older girl. Rooke knew that the carved rock obviously meant something more than just a totem to Tyson. Inwardly, Rooke made an oath to never lose or take off the neckless. It was special to Tyson, so it was special to him.
As Ty walked back in, Alek's amber eyes shot up to him and watched as he gave the younger boy a carved rock. She strained a little to see what it was and gave a soft smile at the bear totem. It was well carved. She had a feeling someone perhaps more important to Ty than the flock had made it. They were all someone else once, thus she tried not to take the flock being placed second to heart. When Ty asked if Rooke could leave the room for a moment, Alek's left eyebrow quirked in questioning. Once the sparrow ran off after hugging the older boy she asked, "What's up, Ty?" She pushed off the door jam to stand in front of him, fingers hooked in her front pockets and head slightly cocked to the side.
When she heard her name being yelled by Rooke she stepped into the hallway and almost got bulldozed by him. His face was lit up with excitement, and in his hand he was holding a small bear totem necklace. "Wow, it's so cool!" She said, examining the necklace in his hands slightly running her fingers over the carved wood. She pulled away and touched her own charm bracelet, losing herself in her thoughts for a moment before jumping back to reality. "I knew he always had a soft spot for you" She said with a toothy grin poking him in the chest.
Without another word Rooke turned on his boot heals and started to walk away. "You look very beautiful, Synax!" Rooke called over his shoulder. He was beaming, already starting to devise more on his plan. 'Alek will be so proud! I won't be the stupid little kid weighing everyone down now! I'll be useful, and now that I'm more brave I can face anything that I come up against! I'M INVINCIBLE!'. He lifted his arms in the air at the end of his tiny aside. Going to his room he grabbed the duffle back he packed up. Hiking it up onto his shoulders he looked around, making sure he wasn't going to leave anything behind. Rooke knew, of course, that any moment now it would settle into Abby and Syn all he had just said, so he knew he had to be quick before they could stop him on going on this, totally not reckless and stupid, journey.
He hurried out of his room, looking back to see Addy pretty much getting ready to run at him. Rooke made a weird nose at the back of his throat, and it actually sounded kinda like a chirp of a bird. He sprinted away, faster than Addy seeing as he was lighter. As he blew past Alek and Tyson, completely forgetting they were talking about something apparently important, he still thought it was the plan of where to go next, he yelled out, "I'll be back!" Bursting out the back door he shimmied his wings so they would be able to comfortably fly with the duffle bag strap between them. With a leap off the porch railing, his black and white wings burst out from his back, ripping his already ripped shirt where it had been sewn back together. With a quick stroke downward Rooke torpedoed up. He could control his speed easily, and he set his mind on going fast. His amazing eyes looked around as he flapped his wings to shoot off what he figured was East. Of course he didn't see anything right away.
He had explored 1 mile out in every direction sense they've been at the small cottage, so he knew that it'd probably take a little longer, maybe about 5 miles, to see if there was any suitable place to go. The young sparrow still thought his idea was the most brilliant idea ever. 'The others will be so proud to know I'm doing something to help!' Rooke thought as he raced East.
Although she was 100% ready to fight any threats her way, Alek had been taught to listen even when threatened. She listened as Tyson fell apart in front if her. Honesty she was not only annoyed but pissed off no one had given her a heads up early. She had been living with him for over a year! If anything, Alicia should have told her just in case something happened. Case in point, she was kidnapped and they were left on their own. Good going Alicia...
Taking a deep breath she forced herself to calm down. One of the few things positive about her wonderful time at the school, she did learn control. Had to really I'm her line of work (assassination and stealing). Getting control over herself, she dropped in front of Tyson after he had finished about the unfortunate events regarding his biological siblings.
She thought a moment before creeping closer and hooking her finger under his chin to make sure his eyes looked into hers. "It's a tragedy you had to go through that, I don't know how losing a sibling feels but I offer you my condolences. However, if I find out that you are secretly working for The School and are still an eraser I promise you I will eviscerate you. I will do anything to protect our flock even if it means killing you.
"That being said," Alek's eyes softened while she removed her finger from his chin and started carding them through his short hair. "You are still part of this flock, this weird yet wonderful family. I will stand by you and protect you just like everyone else. You were designed to be a killer, to hunt us down... that doesn't mean you have to. We were all in some way created to do so. Hell I'm supposed to be an assassin." She grinned, trying to ease some tension. "We're family, no matter what you were supposed to be. Free will is a wonderful and terrible privelage, keep being you." She gave him a tight hug before looking towards the door startled. Rooke ran by yelling something before taking to the air.
With a groan, Alek rubbed her forehead. "This flock sometimes. PUKI! Can you make sure Rooke doesn't get lost or introuble, please?" She looked back down at Tyson with a grin. "Don't worry anymore, you can tell the rest when you're ready or not at all. I'm here either way. Now," She stood up and offered a hand. "Let's find our next destination."
He turned to the door, he hated people going off on their own, unless it was himself of course. Tyson hurried out the room heading for the front door. "Synxa, beautiful, can you keep an eye on Alek for me. Addy can you make sure every thing is ready to go by the front door? And Puki, your with me. We're going to get Rooke." he said this as he passed each of them and grabbed his bag on his way out the door. Once outside he swung he bag onto his back and leaped climbing up the nearest tree. He looked back to make sure Puki was following and was going to be able to keep pace.
Feeling the air around him change directions Rooke was pulled away from the blood right as a tree was coming at his face. He gasped, and instantly spread out his wings. His feet jolted forward as his torso jolted back. Instead of his face hitting first it was now his abdomen. Rooke grunted in pain as he crashed through thick branches and leaves before slamming into something hard. If it wasn't for the blanket and pillow in his duffle back, which his upper torso slammed against, his head would of been split open. Rooke had blacked out, and when he slammed against a tree, 100 feet up in the air, then fell and landed on his stomach he had woken up. Body screaming in pain Rooke groaned, and his eyes poured tears out uncontrollably. Amazingly nothing was broken, but he knew his shoulder, and left side were badly punctured and gashed. The young, stupid feeling boy slowly lifted himself up. He slowly pealed the duffle back off his chest and over his head, wincing and sucking in through his teeth.
He looked at his shoulder, slowly reaching over and clearing off all the feathers and guts that covered his shoulder. Unfortunately Rooke was out of luck in the injury department. 2 bones of the bird had managed to completely blow through his shoulder, he assumed a beak and probably a rib, and about 5 other tiny, hollow bones jutted out from his shoulder. He continued to cry and whimper, refusing to move his right arm now, afraid there will be impossibly more pain. "God this was a stupid idea," Rooke whimpered, his bottom lip quivering. He could now feel the stings of tiny cuts all over his face. His lip was split, and fat, and one of his eyes was starting to swell shut. He looked down at his bloody shirt with his good eye, and slowly lifted his shirt up. There was a massive bruise on his left side, as well as gashes. Rooke fell back on his hutches in defeat, looking back at his wings. Chunks of feathers were missing, and one of them had a deep gash on the meat, right where the feathers met his skin. "God what will the others think?" He couldn't help but ask. Embarrassment and sadness swelled in his chest as his throat started to burn, and his face got hot. The embarrassment and sadness didn't last long, however, because his head shot up upon hearing voices and the snapping of twigs. His eye went wide upon realizing his injuries were the last of his problems.
With a sigh, she continued looking into the city and camp as Tyson went in search for their lost sparrow. She's going to have to give everyone the Buddy System talk. That'll be number seven on her list of things to do. "Shit." She muttered looking into everything known about the hunter's camp. Up side they were all humans. No genetically modified part animal part human hybrids or erasers. Always a plus. However, they were quite terrifying to read about. They didn't follow the government, they were radical, and they didn't give a shit about anyone but themselves. If you are trespassing, even if it was an accident, they appear to shoot first and ask questions later.
Leaning back in her chair while rubbing her eyes, Alek thought out a plan. They needed to get out of here. First, find Rooke and possibly save him. Could be easy if they didn't care about showing off their unique alterations to their genetic code. Which would make hiding from The School harder. Hopefully Rooke was fine and Tyson and Puki would get to him before the hunter's did. Not her immediate problem at the moment. She trusted her flock mates to either take care of the problem or call for help. Next, figure out what to do once everyone was together. They needed to stay under the radar once near and in the city. Slipping in was their best choice meaning they couldn't show any of their... gifts. She mentally noted to make sure to tell everyone not to show their wings, tails, ears, extreme climbing abilities, etc. Anything that a normal human couldn't do, they needed to hide. IF things went well and they found Rooke unharmed (she doubted that because the world didn't seem to favor them) she would send him, Tyson, Addy, and Puki to find somewhere to live while in the city. She and Synax would hit the underground, make friends with the runaways, transients, and homeless. They were always good people to know. They knew the city the best and in a pinch could probably help them escape or hide.
Memorizing every route between the house and the city, she shut down the computer and looked around one last time before heading downstairs to where Addy and Synax were. With her bag slung over her shoulders, she watched as the two younger girls moved around to finish packing. "I going to wait just outside the back door in case there's a call for help. If you need me for anything let me know. Thank you." She smiled and walked out the door, leaving it open for easy access.
He was unable to see around a few trees, but he was able to see where he landed, feathers and broken branches strewn across the ground. He got a good look of a long muzzle that belonged to a rifle. He continued to not have the ability to see past a cluster of trees. Rooke, catching his breath quickly, rustled out from under the bush he was under. Instead of sprinting away he chose to sneak from tree to tree, going around the back of the men. Finally able to see past the wall of trees, he saw there were about 3 or 5 men. Rooke didn't know, he got those two numbers mixed up usually. It looked more than 3, so he assumed it was 5. His lips pursed as he started to back up, having seen enough. When his wings hit something soft, warm, and moving, he froze. "And what do you think you're doing?" A gruff voice growled in back of him.
As he neared the camp he slowed down to listen for any sign of Rooke. That's when he heard the men walking through the woods and moved in as quietly as possible for a closer look. From his new vantage point he could see the five men closing on Rooke. Just before He could jump down to grab him, a man's voice scared him and forced him to look away from the group to a man standing toe to toe with Rooke. Without a second thought Tyson dove at the man behind Rookie with his fangs and claws fully extended as rage filled his eyes. He plunged his claws into the man's chest puncturing his heart and left lung. He quickly pulled his claws out of the man as he turned in the direction of the other five men. Driven by rage and the need to protect his own, Tyson jumps and swings off a tree branch in an attempt to land on one of the men but instead lands crouched in front of one of them. Quickly springing up, he lounges at the mans throat and pins the man to the ground. He thrust his claws into the mans shoulder as he uses his fangs to rip apart the mans jugular. Blood sprays every were as the man tries to scream for help, but cant as he lays helpless well his friends watch shock and surprised, at less for the moment. Tyson had forgotten at this point that a hurt ten year old was only a few feet away, hidden only by a tree. Who now stands over a corpse, killed by a member of his family, the same one now almost lost to his animal bloodlust.
The sparrows jaw dropped as he started to tremble, the pain in his body forgotten as fear and adrenaline took over. He stared at Tyson as blood splattered everywhere, a few drops splashing his cheeks. Rooke flinched feeling the hot, salty, sticky blood smack onto his cheek. His breath shuttered out of him with every exhale as he slowly reached up and brushed off the multiple drops of crimson liquid. He stared at his fingertips, smeared in the blood. Tears resumed to pour out of his eyes, staining his face even more. Rooke looked up, trembling in terror as he stared at Tyson. The men of the hunting came had the same face, only a few of them left. Finally breaking free of his frozen state, Rooke slowly stood up, struggling for balance as he continued to shake.

She continued to pack the bags to get ready but the stench of worry plagued her mouth, a taste almost bitter. She stood up zipping a bag of food up before following the scent to Alek, it didn't take much to conclude it was coming from her, the worry and anxiousness on her face made it painfully obvious, and the sour taste on her tongue sealed the deal. Addy timidly walked over to Alek and tugged on her sleeve slightly, "I think everything will be ok, I know Tyson can hold his own" she said quietly looking up at Alek, "Worrying is going to do you, and them no good".
Puki put out her arms to steady Rooke. "It's ok, it's gonna be ok..." She said, holding onto him. She scooped him up, turning to Tyson again. He was scary like this. She didn't want to abandon him. She remained frozen, unsure what to do.
Now that all the men were died he turned his attention to the only two living people around. He walked over to Rooke and Puki and looked the two of them in the eyes, blood still dripping from his mouth, covering his shirt and hands. His eyes still full of rage and bloodlust, but as the fear in their eye sunk in Tyson was force to look away, and as he did his eyes fell upon the bear totem around Rooke's neck. All of the rage left his eyes as the fact that he was staring down his own family sunk in. In a quiet, ashamed and worried voice, "I'm... I'm... sorry. Thank you Puki for helping, but I need you as the only non injured one to hurry back to the house and tell Alek... I... I have failed my Alpha. That Rooke is hurt and I am bringing him in, but we have to move quickly." After saying that he turned to Rooke, "You have to trust me. I am still the same Tyson you knew this morning, the one how gave you that totem. Now hold on to it and hold tight to me, I'm going to get you back home and your going to be fine. By morning you'll be ready to start working out with me if you want." As carefully as possible Tyson pick Rooke up with his left arm and started to make his way towards the house. Thankfully adrenaline makes for such a good pain kill so even with a bullet in the sholder he could still out run a normal human.
His lip quivered as he looked in back of them, staring at all the dead bodies. He shrunk more against Tyson, his injured wing helplessly hanging out to the side. "I can't p-put my wings back in... They-ey're to injured," He mumbled, feeling stupid for getting so hurt. He looked at Tysons shoulder, frowning as he sniffled, trying to wipe away some sap on his cheek. At first he reached out to check Ty's wound with his right arm, but quickly returned it back to his chest, not wanting to movie it. Instead he looped his arm around Tysons neck and softly pushed his shirt off his shoulder, seeing the bullet had blown all the way through. "We'll need someone to h-help you with your shoulder, Tyson...." He gave Ty a tiny smile, trying to make himself feel less stupid. He moved Tysons shirt back, and then leaned back to look at the blood on his face. Rooke frowned, then pursed his lips. Grabbing onto the front of Tysons shirt with this bad arm Rooke managed to pivot around enough to grab the duffle bag, which was on his back still. He rummaged around blindly before pulling out the blanket he had taken from the cabin. Looking at it he gave a tiny shrug with his good shoulder before reaching over and starting to wipe the blood off of Tysons mouth. "Don't tell the others how I fell.... Just tell them I saw the camp and got beat up or something... It's too embarrassing telling them I wasn't paying attention and a bird hit my shoulder," He mumbled, blushing and frowning a bit.
Puki reached the camp and landed slightly unbalanced, "Alek... I-I'm sorry... Tyson and Rooke... they're coming back, but we ran into hunters... They're hurt... Rooke injured his wing, and Tyson... Er... Got shot." She was crying now, "Im sorry... I was just too scared I couldn't do anything. I could have gotten Rooke to safety when the fighting broke out, but I just stood there like an idiot!" She bit her lip, "They told me to go on ahead..." She sighed, then turned to Synxa and Addy, "Addy, there's a first aid kit in my backpack. It should be near the top. Synxa.. If it's not too much trouble... I know it's draining but we may need your powers, ok?" She said.

Seeing that Rooke was trying to take care of Tyson, she gently pulled the sparrow away. "I don't think so. You need to worry about your wounds before anothers. Go see Puki, I don't know enough about bird anatomy to help." She ruffled his hair before gently pushing Rooke towards Puki. She'll talk to him later when he isn't going to bleed out.
"Synxa, focus on Rooke. Puki take care of him, Addy with me. Get bandages, hot water, rag, blanket, and anything to use for suturing." Focusing on her second, she started sending out calming vibes or well she hope she was. First she sat him down on the stairs of the back porch and placed three fingers along his carotid artery. It was a little weak but steady. "You aren't going into shock which is a plus, but The bullet didn't go all the way through. Sorry Ty, I'm going to need to pull it out." Lengthing her nails to claws she looked him in the eyes. "I'm sorry." Then she shoved her index and thumb into his shoulder. She bit her lip as her nails slipped on the blood covering the bullet, but within seconds she grabbed it and slid it out. "Stay with me, Ty." She dropped the bullet and pressed the heel of her palm to the wound. As she helped Tyson, she kept half her attention of her little sparrow.
She was suddenly distracted, when Rooke's voice came out in a small whimper, she turned to him and at the sight of him almost began to cry, she knew Alek had her hands full with Tyson, and she wanted to help. She quickly dashed over to him and gently grabbed his cheeks turning his head slightly to look for any major injuries in the areas where it would be most detrimental. She had watched Alek many times patch everyone up and picked up some skills of her own. She turned to his most problematic area, his wing. She lightly touched the area where the wing connected to his shoulder and searched his face, "Does that hurt? Can you move it any?" She asked calmly.
Rookes voice got smaller and smaller as he tired to explain his reasoning for ordering Alek around. At the end of his sentence he just stopped and pursed his lips. "I don't know," He mumbled again, looking back down to Ty, realizing that he was still subconsciously brushing dirt and stuff off Tysons face. He looked down at the bullet hole, and clenched his jaw. His nose wrinkled as anger started to boil inside him, eating away as his chest and stomach. Shuffling a good distance away he watched Alek holding onto Tyson. 'This is all my fault... God I'm such an idiot. Tysons hurt because I thought I could be tough and help out. I'm just a weak idiot who can't pay attention while flying, or use some common sense...' Rooke looked down at his shoulder as he scolded himself inwardly. After a moment Rooke grabbed onto a small bone in his shoulder, and started to pull it out. The bone has stopped most of the bleeding, but now it poured out, staining his shirt impossibly more. He attempted to keep the ball of his palm on it while pulling out the other bones. He got about what he figured was 5 out before he had to stop, his entire hand covering a good chunk of the wound. The sparrow glared up, anger continuing to fuel him. He managed to dig into his shoulder and rip out 2 more, but that soon became too painful. He ended up falling while sitting down, passed out from pain and blood loss.
Alek didn't say anything as Rooke... requested her to let Tyson go. The way Ty held her she thought it better if she didn't. She felt like a his anchor at the moment and like she would do to any of them, she wouldn't move unless she had to. While she let the others take care of Rooke after he stepped away from the pair, she focused back on the wounded in her arms. Shifting a little, she rummaged through the surprisingly well stocked first aid kit. "Hey Tyson." Her voice was deep and soothing, almost hypnotic. "I'm going to stitch up the holes, try to bear with me and not sleep. You can later." Her head jerked to look over her should when she sensed Rooke's fall. She wanted to run to him, but knew she couldn't. One thing at a time. "Bring him inside and tend to him in there." She requested before turning back to her patient.
With a deep breath she wiped the area with alcohol wipes, got as much blood off her hands as she could, sterilized the needle with another alcohol wipe, and began the task of stitching her friend. She talked to him about her plans for when they got to the city. She altered them a little knowing she may have to use some of her abilities to hide the fact that Rooke couldn't hide his wings. It would all depend on if Synax could fully heal him. She had faith in the little cat, but she was still young and even Alek had trouble using her abilities for long periods of time.
After finishing the stitching, she gently moved Tyson's arm from around her waist (where she had moved it when she started sewing him up) to around her shoulders. "I know you're tired, but we need to get you inside. Let's get this over with and then you can sleep." With some struggling, the two made it to the living room where Tyson was gracelessly placed on the second couch. "Rest." She stoked his hair. "We'll talk all about this later. For now don't worry and heal." Her eyes flicked up as she asked, "How's Rooke doing? Is he going to need a transfusion?"

She jumped slightly when Tyson started yelling and became frustrated when Rooke jumped to his side. She understood that they had a strong connection, but he was going to injure himself even more. She got up to go sit Rooke back down, when he started pulling the bones out. Addy was horrified, she had never seen someone do something so rash, she almost felt as if he was punishing himself for being so careless. She rushed over to him, afraid he was going to cause more damage to his wings than there already was. "Rooke stop!" She yelled, horrified as she watched him pull one after the other out of his shoulder. She managed to grab him right as he passed out, falling limp in her hands, which were now promptly covered in his blood. She gently laid him down on the couch before rushing and getting bandages from the first aid kit. She quickly wrapped up the wound carefully to stop the bleeding but he still had lost a lot of blood.
After she had Rooke settled safely on the couch and the bleeding controlled, she watched as Alek and Tyson came into the house looking up at Alek as she sat Tyson on the other couch. "Probably, he has lost quite a lot of blood, it's going to have to be from Puki though because they have similar blood types" She stated looking back at Rooke's small form on the couch. She sighed then looked at her bloodied hands and clothes, "I- I think I'm going to go clean up a bit" She said quietly before walking down the hall and into the bathroom.
