Briar hated mornings. She hated having to drag herself out of bed especially if she was in her cottage on the outskirts of the city. In all honesty, it would surprise anyone if her store was open before 10, but she had to go home. She had to get her "babies", Rosie and Thorne, to get them prepared to travel to the Realm of the Fae with her older brother, Gale before they and the other two "genius" triplets left for the holiday. They all hated spending holidays in Ariosa, something about the rowdiness of the crowds and the stench of shadow magic and shifters getting to be too much to handle. They were Lightfoots, after all, and Lightfoots have no need nor desire to spend time among those on Pangea when they can spend it together. Safe. Briar knew they were just being pretentious and paranoid. Thus, being the reason she never went home and adored the Solstice; the fireworks, the parties, the crowds, the number of sales she'd make in a day. It exhilarated her every year.

And as much as she hated leaving her pets with anyone who wasn't Arlo or Seb, but they had to go; Thorne, her childhood cat, was getting sick from being away from the Realm of the Fae for too long and refused to eat Feyberries; and her baby pitbull, Rosie, was terrified of fireworks and... frankly they were both codependent on each other and despite her parents' apprehension of allowing non-Fey creatures into the Realm, they still couldn't say no to their "baby petal's" pleads (and whining). So, after a week of bothering the triplets, Gale, the most stoic of the three surprisingly cracked and here they, and their personal guard, were tapping their foot in annoyance, looking from their youngest sister through her everchanging maze of a shop and yelling her name over the music playing through the speakers definitely wouldn't help. But, in all honesty, Briar was "in the zone"

"You know, I have cared for a dog before." Briar stopped her rambling as she looked up at Gale. "I know, but you have never dealt with a dog that wasn't from the Realm and Rosie is special. She cannot eat the grass or else she gets sick and--.. and she's really sensitive to floral scents, especially lavender so keep her away from Magnus, and she really loves to sleep in her knitted pajamas--.." Gale took a deep and annoyed sigh. "If you know so much more than me, why don't you just come home and take care of her during the Solstice?" Briar scoffed. "No." The fairy didn't even look up as she fixed Rosie's pink collar as the pit bull continued to lick her owner's face. "Briar--.." She took another deep breath and scratched her pup's ear. "Sit." Right on command, Rosie sat down before Briar finally met her brother's eyes and stood up. Her brother towered over her even as he leaned on the counter of her shop and her in her high platform heels. "All of you are all the same." Briar pointed at her brother before walking away in a flourish to the back of her store. Gale rolled their eyes and followed close behind their sister. "Briar, I am just saying that you cannot stay forever." Briar aggressively scurried to her wall of flowers. "Why not?"

Gale looked at the flowers in front of them before reaching out for the lily of the valleys and handing them to Briar, who still refused to look at them as she seemed so invested in the wide array of lightly colored flowers in the bouquet that was nestled in her arms.

But, this Solstice felt different than the others she had celebrated in Astoria. This time she had a goal she wanted to complete and a plan she had to push herself to see through. No matter how many nervous thoughts raced through her head. None of that mattered. What mattered was all her orders were done, ready to pick up other than the one she was making special. The basket was filled with the brim with small trinkets she knew they'd like including pieces of jewelry from the realm of the fae that she no longer wore, a journal (with a small note written in it), and a book on shadow magic that she had Arlo... "borrow" from an abandoned book cart her, Seb, and Arlo had passed. The only thing that she needed was the bouquet of flowers created from flowers from her personal garden near the sanctuary, which was unheard of, she didn't let anyone have those flowers, not even the boys (not that that ever stopped them.) They're priceless to her, but she needed this gift to be perfect. The perfect "

as she looked down at the brightly colored bouquet created from an assortment of flowers from her , she had to see this through.

So begins...

"17? That pretty young for you to find love don't you think? I mean aren't these years suppost to be before you settle down?" She saids as she looks at Toby raising an eyebrow at him. 'These years are about trying new things, not finding love but I guess I can't do anything about it. I'm just going to go with it and if something happens so be it.' She saids in her mind as she messes with her finger nails, one of her habits. "Well this seems to go forever. Do you just want to head back?" She saids as she stops for a minute to see how far it goes.

"And wait a minute, what do you mean I look like the artsy type. I mean I get that all the time but I never understood what it meant. So what's it mean?" She saids in a joking voice hoping he didn't really think she thought it was offencive. "You look like a skater kind of. Are you?" She saids as she shrugs her shoulders.

'I wonder what the others are doing around? Hm,maybe I should go back and go look around the house a bit. But I don't want to seem rude.' She thinks to herself.

"Yeah, to be honest I agree with you." Toby chuckled. "But I guess I didn't really choose to have that goddess person come to me...I probably tend to overthink things and figured she must have a reason. Especially when she spoke about never finding love if we fail. I mean I'm in no hurry, but the idea that it could never happen is kinda scary."

As they turned around to make their way back, he stroked his chin and wondered how to explain the 'artsy type' thing without causing offence.

"I guess I just mean you look like you're cut from a different cloth." he smiled, "You know, most people seem pretty much clones of each other these days. I suppose I just appreciate when someone looks like they might have enought of a creative spark in them to be interesting."

"I get what you mean by being alone sound scary but I guess I never put any effort in that "right" one and now it's back to bite me in the butt." She smiles knowing she doesn't sound like she's in college.

"It just seem kind of strange for people so young and ...well I haven't seen one person who wasn't attractive here. So? Wait a minute we all signed a letter, that came out of no where and a lady came out? We're not that smart." Xeina chuckles knowing she did the same thing."And for the artsy comment, yea I get the a lot and I like being different. It makes me stand out" She saids as she softly push Toby's shoulder.

"so what do you do in your free-time since your not in college yet?" She saids as she sees the beach get bigger and bigger. She smiles "And here we are." She saids as she sits on the white hot sand.

The way Xeina described the situation – the blind signing of a contract with so many unknown factors – made Toby grin distinctly. When you put it like that, it did sound pretty ridiculous. But then it wasn’t like anything bad had come of it, they were all together on an exotic island and so far seemed to be having a good time. He did wonder where the others had got to though...hadn’t one of them mentioned swimming? Another was exploring the house...maybe eventually they could head back in and look for an obvious common area where everyone would migrate back to.

“Yeah really eh.” He laughed at the whole situation, looking down at the soft inviting sand and setting himself down next to Xeina, close enough for them to be able to talk over the sound of the rolling waves, though the air moved with only a perfectly gentle breeze. “I never thought about it like that until now. Still, no going back now eh?”

He smiled and ran his fingers into the sand, feeling the dry warmth. “You’re right though, if we’re all here for...well, that reason you’d expect us all to be...hah, different I suppose! Maybe that’s the problem. Not enough people back in the ‘real world’ appreciate the value of ‘different’.” He added a wink at the end in reference to Xeina’s previous remark about being different.

“If I’m honest,” he replied, “most of my free time is spent figuring out what I wanna do at college! My problem is that not many things keep my attention for that long. Finding a subject I could study consistently for three or more years is hard.” He looked out over the water thoughtfully and chewed his lip, “Maybe that’s why I’m here too. Because most people don’t hold my interest for long enough. Never really realised that before either.”

He leaned back on his elbows and blew out a breath of air. The coastal sand was as comfortable as any couch or bed, and he was certain that it would attract the others out sooner or later.

“What kind of stuff inspires you?” he asked, “I guess art allows you to look at lots of different kinds of things. Must give you a lot of...intellectual freedom I suppose. Not being tied to any particular subject matter.”

She shrugs as she looks at the crystal blue sky. "I guess it does a little. just paint what i'm feeling like at that moment." She saids as she chuckles thing about her art. "You can go back, if you want i'm just going to relax right here for a while." She adds with a smile as she closes her eyes.

What am I going to do about that painting? It suppost to be turned in today! She thinks as she combs her red hair with her nimble fingers. She shelids her eyes from the bright sun wishing she brought some sunglasses with her outside. She listens to the ocaen crash on the shore as it touchs her toes. Crap, that's cold. She thinks as she moves her feet farther away from the water. She doesn't know if Toby is still there or not but she doesn't see the difference if some one saw her move her feet away from the water or not.

"This is so peaceful." She saids in a kind of hush tone.
