Introduction
In the land of Meridian, there lived a great family of witches and wizards known as the 'Harmans', it is well known that the eldest living child of the Harman is endowed with the strongest magic.
The Harmans have always been a kind and generous family. Although they were first known among the people of Meridian as peasants, after years of loyally serving royalty in battle, they themselves became known as kings and queens of the land.
Many years have passed since that and it is now modern day... In another realm. Sixteen years have passed since a baby girl was born into the Harman family and she was taken away and hidden in our realm for her own protection against her younger brother, who the family's psychic aunt deemed evil upon birth, seeing his future as a cruel king. After many years of fear and anger being shown toward him, he fell into darkness.
Fifteen years later for this boy, he has conjured up an army of orcs and goblins, sending them to our modern day realm to capture his older sister and bring her to him. He plans to kill her and inherit her powers, but one thing stands in his way...
One day, the girl was thought to be kidnapped from her home near his and he instantly becomes worried, fearing the worst for the girl, even though she mercilessly mocks him about his affections for her.
Later that night after her disappearance, a young man appears in his room while he's watching television. Oddly enough, this young man is dressed like he just stepped out of medieval times. He instantly believes he's dreaming as the man jabs a finger at him and says, "Well, boy, do you want to save your girl or not?" afterward he recalls the distant sound of laughter as he passed out.
His belief he is dreaming is reinforced when he awakes, drenched with water, in what looks to be a stable, carelessly tossed onto a bale of straw. He quickly spots the odd young man from before standing above him with an empty, dripping pail.
What will happen to the young Harman girl? Will she die and her younger brother become the merciless ruler he was always thought to become? Or will the 'nerd' step up and become the hero he's always wanted to be in video games?

I'm in stables? Yeah, I think this are stables. Where are there stables in Fairfield?
As the girl draws her sword after insulting him, he tenses, then scrambles back from her as she pokes at him.
"Ah! That's not something I want to be poked with!" he yelps. At her mention of a dragon in the dungeons, he tilts his head and stares at her in confusion. "Dragon? As in, a real, living, fire-breathing, people-eating dragon?" he asks.

"Yes, Lania. This is the warrior- or, well, he will be. Although he may not seem so strong physically, like you would expect, my elven friend, his mind is strong."
The corner of his mouth twitched into something that moderately resembled a smile at the short debate regarding whether Ramiro should be thrown to the dragon or not.
"Throw him to the dragon and you'll have a bit of trouble picking up those swords, Lania, so I'd advise that you drop the subject." he turned his attention back to Ram. "Yes, dragons. Real, fire-breathing, people-eating dragons." he paused to let that sink in.
"Now, if you don't mind, I'll introduce myself. My name is Dragoon the Great. You may call me Dragon. This," he gestured toward Lania, "is Lania. She is a half-elf, and a snarky one at that. Now, you're probably wondering where you are."
After a moment of thinking, he held out a hand in offering to help the warrior-to-be up from the straw.
"I'm afraid that we are not in your dimension anymore. We are in Meridian. The girl that disappeared from your neighborhood, Myddrin, is in this realm as well, though I fear that she is not in such good hands as you." Dragoon gave a pause for any immediate questions or objections before he moved on.

"Dragons. Right. And you're... Dragon. Great. I'm sure that will save many headaches in the future." He pauses to take a deep breath, exhaling slowly. "Okay, Ram, you can handle this. Different dimension. There are dragons. They still use swords. And horses. It's like you got dropped into the campaign," he murmurs, eyes closed. He frowns, then opens his eyes and looks at Dragoon.
"You said I will be a warrior. Explain, please. An overview of recent history and why you pulled me- me, of all people!- over here would also be helpful."

"Now, to explain why I brought you here. No one from this dimension would be able to halt the wizard's advance. He has a harness on the mind of everyone from this land, and though it is a minor connection, it is enough that he could drive us to near madness. You have no such handicap and so are a grand threat to him. Also, I might mention that you have some knowledge of the enemies we might face. You often played a game similar to our dimension, yes? Well, welcome to the game." He turned to face the direction Lania had gone and his eyes flashed gold. Soon enough, the half-elf girl would find herself drawn (or pulled, if you prefer) back to the stables.
Turning back to Ramiro, he immediately began speaking again. "Lania will be teaching you the basics of combat when she comes back, which I know she will very soon. I recommend that you not wander out of sight of either her or I, lest you find one of the lest hospitable inhabitants of these lands. If you have any questions I suggest you ask them now, as I know Lania is not the most patient teacher." Dragoon fell silent, waiting for any further inquiries.

"Okay, so the snarky half-elf who decided to stab a sword into the straw near me and thinks that tossing me to a dragon is a fun idea will be teaching me the basics of how to fight. Oh, joyous day, how did you know that's exactly what I want." Ramiro pauses to take a breath.
"I'm supposed to fight this king for you. What have we got to fight him with? Also, can he look at what you're thinking?"

Just as she got pulled in, Lania turned to look at Ramiro, "Dungeons and Dragons...is a game to your kind?" She blinked, imagining someone throwing other players into a dungeon with a dragon with but a mere dagger to slay it with, or something of the sort. A game, they say? "So you're a dragon slayer?" She raised a brow at Ramiro in disbelief. He sure didn't look like a dragon slayer of any sort to her. She made no comment on the snarkiness though. She should probably apologize for that.

He shrugged at Ramiro's second remark, clearly not getting the sarcasm. "I didn't know you wanted her to teach you. he paused. "What have we got to fight him with? Why, swords and magic, of course! What else would we use?" he raised an eyebrow quizzically. "As I said before, the connection is minor and there are many people in these lands. Even if he could read minds, I doubt he'd be able to gather much."
He waited patiently as Lania and Ramiro talked. Combing his fingers through his pale hair, Dragoon sighed. This might be harder than he previously thought.
"If you two don't mind, our warrior has a lot to learn in so little time. We ought to begin." he gestured mildly towards the horses on the far end of the stables. "If you don't know how to ride a horse, you're about to learn, Ramiro."
He turned to look at Lania and nodded, "Your turn, my friend."

"Secret societies dedicated to being as much of a hindrance as possible without any overt defiance are helpful in these situations. And the ability to read minds would mean he knows I'm here and being drafted to fight him, which would pretty much make me a nice, juicy target," he explained.
He stands, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his thumb. He looks where Dragoon gestures and winces slightly. "I don't know how to ride a horse. I don't exactly have an abundance of choices that don't involve learning, though, do I?" he remarks.

Heading to the edge of the nearby forest, Dragoon took a seat on a rock. A small chuckle escaped him as he imagined Lania trying to instruct Ramiro on how to ride a horse. She'd probably beat the boy over the head. Ah well, it would at least teach him to protect himself from a flailing angry elf. Relaxing on his sun-warmed seat, he began to think about the future.
