Gauging Interest: Dune, the Dynasty Wars

Introduction to the Game and setting:

For those familiar with Dune i hope you like what we're trying to do here and to those who aren't then let me say welcome and give you time to read the following:

Dynasty's rise and dynasty's fall....

It is the year 9691. The known universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Alexius the Fifth. He rules with a fist of Iron held in a velvet glove, the threat of his Sardukar legions, his trained killers, held over the rest of the noble houses of the Landsraad. Yet, for now, the noble houses that govern the Imperiums many and countless worlds in his name, keep from declaring him tyrant and continue to bicker and squabble with each other, be it in the floor of the Hall of Oratory or on the battlefields. All eager to gain the Imperial favour and the contract to mine the planet Arrakis for the spice..

In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the spice Melange. The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel. The Spacing Guild and its navigators, who the spice has mutated over 4000 years, use the orange spice gas, which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of the universe without moving. The spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe. A desolate, dry planet with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Fremen, Strange desert nomads and troublemakers who constantly attack thespice miners

The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune.


You play the part of a voice in the Imperium..one of countless whose tales will come to shake the corners of the Galaxy...and perhaps change the course of it..

Dune: The Dynasty Wars is a storytelling game..a game of Roleplaying. In it you play as big or small a role as you wish, From one simple traveller to the Entire cast of a Great House or Freman Sietch. It is very much a game of Intrigue and Betrayal, one of Warfare and Plotting and one of Characters tales and adventures, written by you and involving as many or as few others as you wish.

The rules are basic and simple, involving a simple dice roll and modifiers but more then most using what you write to judge your actions and events...

Creating your Character:

Okay, you've read the introduction and are ready to create your character. first you have to decide what your up to running as writing for the cast of an entire fremen Sietch or noble house isisn'tor everyone. The choices are:

Entire Group:
Great House
Minor House
Fremen Sietch

These each rereceive Stipend of $20'000 Solaris ( Freman receive an amount of Spice to sell and turn into Solaris ) each Turn ( Turns last a couple of weeks depending on ongoing storylines ) and are expected to be the main movers and shakers of the game. These are sometimes hard to run in their entire form but can be rewarding especially if you like to create multiple Characters and plotlines.

For those who would rather run just one person and keep their plotlines simple then this is for you. Each recieves a Stipend each turn of $ 2000 Solaris ( gained from employment through to smuggling depending on your character choice )

Your Characters Name: ( please keep it so it fits in with the setting, no Baron Gasbag of House Rumptrump etc )
His Background: ( the more you write here the more others will be able to see and work with in their own plots, so remember little means you might be waiting on plots to develop )
His Description:( again, be descriptive, the more the better..if he has one eye, fine, but if he has one eye that the scar that covers his cheek runs over, even better )
A Secret:( this is for the Gm's only..unless its only a secret in your mind and is public knowledge but never spoken of )
His Goals:( what your after...from Ruling Arrakis to simply finding your next meal )
