OOC The Price of Love

The valley of the Red Kingdom is usually covered in a rainy mist, which makes it difficult to view the scenery. There are rumors from the surrounding kingdoms which say that it’s a curse that’s been placed over the Red Kingdom. It wasn’t always called the Red Kingdom. Five years ago, when all the surrounding kingdoms offered sacrifices it was called the Center Star Kingdom. Mainly because it and the kingdoms surrounding it made the shape of a pentagram. But now its name suits the kingdom perfectly, for it is the very last kingdom that still sacrifices living souls to the Demon Goddess Pyris in the hopes of having good crops and trades for the coming year. It sacrifice must be the lover of the first Royal Princess. The townspeople have no idea of what happens behind the closed doors of the large castle.

The castle looms over the town like an predator stalking it’s next victim. It has many different entrances, many of them unknown to the townspeople. The little kingdom is located on the side of a enormous mountain, which means the city is divided. There are wooden bridges connecting the two parts of the town together, so that the townspeople may get to one area to another. An even larger bridge connects the castle to the town, but it’s very narrow, only allowing one person to come through at a time. There is a large waterfall which runs under the bridge that goes from the castle to the town.

Below the hallowed halls of the castle lays a sanction in which the sacrifices are taken. Lined along the hallway to the main chamber are statues of the previous scarifies. In the center of the main chamber lays a large platform in which the sacrifices are strapped to. The platform is round and every so feet have a small gothic styled pillar that holds candles in a spiral going up the sides where it ends at one large candle at the top. Beneath the platform are drains, which lead the blood to where the goddess lays dormant. There are many priests and priestess which help the ceremony, they also serve as the kings advisors.

The town itself is a dreary little place, it’s always cold and murky due to the never ceasing mist. The crime and murder rate have increased dramatically over the past few years, making it more dangerous than the surrounding villages. It has markets, bars, hotels, and other places of business. The village has many trees, seeing as it’s shrouded by a dense jungle. There are vines running up alongside many of the stone houses in the village and the castle.

The time for rebellion is soon at hand. Little than half of the Kings advisors see no need in having a sacrifice and have noticed that the other kingdoms have been doing well since they stopped having them. Some of the townspeople have been noticing many young men missing around their village and began to wonder what is happening to them. Will you be on the King’s side? Or those whom wish for a few reign of rule?
