Yikes... Wow. Well, I haven't posted any new "looking for roleplayers" threads in a while, and have become very confused as to what's allowed where and whatnot, so I hope this doesn't break any rules, I'm just trying to go with the flow. Ha...ha... *sigh*
Okay, here's my role-play idea. I need one to two additional characters to play male roles in the story. One is preferred, but as I am completely uncertain as to the status of quote "one-on-ones" I don't know if that's kosher, and so I am extending the number to two. There is a bit of a difference in the story if there are two people interested...well, I think it will be easier to explain after I've described the plot. (And here I am again, rambling...)
The setting is a slightly altered Victorian London. The main difference is the standard of propriety, which I was hoping could be held to that of the Elizabethan period. (If you don't know what that is, I'll be more than happy to explain it.) There could also be elements of steampunk added, but if so, I don't know where they'd go. (On to the actual plot. Lord, I talk too much.)
London has fallen behind in the strictness of their moral code. Paris, on the other hand, is much more flexible when it comes to things such as propriety, not to say that depravity is around every corner, but there are things that are different. Paris is where our heroine (my character) hails from.
Alexandrie DuPont is the daughter of a member of the French bourgeoisie. Her mother was the daughter of an English noble, but she cut all ties to her family when she fell in love with Alexandrie's father, Henri. Recently the DuPonts have fallen on hard times and have been forced, destitute, out of their home. During this hard time, Alexandrie turned around her fortune by becoming a hit on the Paris stage. She made a small fortune there, but when her father dies unexpectedly, her mother's family invites them to London and Alexandrie is dragged along.
They enter into London society with a good deal of money, some Alexandrie's some her mother's family's. Immediately the girl feels the strain of the stiff English society and she can't stand her mother Anglicizing her name. She is irritable and misses the stage, but she cannot begin acting in London because girls aren't allowed to be in theater, it isn't proper. Of course, Alexandrie, feeling a little rebellious, cuts off her long tresses, sends them to a wig maker to be made into a wig for herself and vanishes.
The hero (your character) is the son of a gentleman with a very large fortune that isn't going anywhere fast. He is the only son, and thus the heir. Unfortunately for his father, the boy prefers to do things his own way. He runs off to London and joins the theater, quickly becoming a sensation because of his skill and good looks. He is the most sought after lead actor at the time when the heroine attempts to join the London theater.
I don't have as much information on the hero because that is for you to decide.
The gist of the story is, if you haven't already figured it out, the leader of the London stage takes the strange young boy who has just recently joined up with the actors under his wings because the fellow has talent and plays a much more believable female role then any of the others he's worked with. The actor also meets and believes himself (at some point during the story) to have fallen in love with a beautiful young lady from upper class London society whom he only sees when the boy he's helping is not in the play or has gone off to "minister his sick mother".
