Name: Matthew Graves
Age: 18
Height: 6'4''
Weight: 115 pounds
Haircolor: Brunette
Eyecolor: Aniridia (the condition in which a person's irises lack color, causing the eyes to appear completely black)
Appearance: orange rimmed glasses with thick frames, a brown coat vest with white fur bordering the sides, a black and white stripped shirt, blue jeans, black gloves, black boots which come half way towards his knees, and a cigarette perpetually stuck between his lips.
Species: Cherub - A race of humanoids who dominate most of the world of Arbor. Cherubs are given a supernatural sixth sense, which allows them to detect Shrieks; a villainous being also from Arbor commonly mistaken for a ghost. Furthermore, Cherubs also naturally absorb the spare life energy flowing in the environment and manipulate them in the form of invocations, which have varying effects depending upon incantation used. While their language is spoken the same as human English, it is written from left to right, down to up, and is backwards and upside-down. In other words, to read English, a Cherub would have to turn a book upside-down to read it correctly. Additionally, Cherubs age the same as humans, however they measure the time backwards, from 200 to 1. As such, they now exactly when they will die, as the time clocks down, and their birthdays are known as deathdays, and are often solemn events.
Universe: Arbor is also known as the "Backwards World" for its notorious nature of having opposite qualities of that of Earth; life inhabits in what appears to be water as the oxygen is thicker than in the air, which seems to be a cloudy sky inside of "lakes" and "rivers" in the world. Falling into the world's "water" will cause an object to fall into the world of humans, however the route is not the same to venture in as it is to venture out. The world is enveloped in an eternal night, and is home to two species: Cherubs and Shrieks.
Background: Despite Matthew Grave's vice exterior, he is actually a temple hark, a well respected position that employs a Cherub to be the listener of the voice of their supposive deity: The moon goddess Luna. His mother and father, who are no longer with him due to young age, were also temple harks, as were many of his ancestors. Yet, he is not fond of his position, and thus is often reluctant to participate in his duties. Matthew's lack of enthusiasm towards temple conduct, such as living a life free of smoking or other acts considered sinful, has earned him much conflict with the temple priests. Most do not understand why someone who has lived for so many years can act as rebellous as he does, however people decide to simply ignore his existance for the most part.
