Keep in mind, you will have 4 NPCs under your command as a Squad Captain. You WILL have limited/moderate control over the things they say and do. AND you also have officers quarters. But are separate from the ship officers.

Yeah, id perfer just 1 officer per person. But sure you can have one of the Ground Team Captains.

(I'll add this to the intro) The ground team is split into 3 separate squads: -Alpha Squad -Delta Squad -Beta Squad Each Squad has 5 soldiers and is commanded by the by the Squad Captain.
