Yeah, the hybrids can see each other. Also, the rooms where they are contained have glass walls and is quite small depending on what animal you are. The rooms are tubular.

We start in the capsules which are separate tubular like rooms. The hybrids can communicate with each other still. Just not outside the room where the scientists are.
