Plague and Anarchy ~Interest Check~

This is just an idea I had after playing a lot of Plague Inc. Evolved. Other than drawing inspiration from that, my RP is, more or less, original.

Plague and Anarchy

"Ah, welcome sister. I understand you haven't been enlightened yet, but that will come in time. First, you must hear our story of origin before you receive the blessings of Thanatos. It is required before anyone becomes a follower. Ma'am please stop struggling with your restraints, you will feel better once you receive your blessing. Now, let us begin."

No one knows exactly when the first person was infected. Most scientists theorize that it all started in Northern Alaska on a deep sea expedition led by representatives of America and Russia as a way to end tensions between the nations and create a bond of friendship. The expedition was led by American Gregory Smith and Russian Nikolai Ivanov. A series of underwater caverns were found by the team and they all were filled with gold. Joy erupted among the team and thus began a great friendship between the two nations, and a national deep sea mining project was started. What awaited the miners was much more than anyone have bargained for.

The crew awoke something sleeping within the caverns. A parasite referred as the Neurax Worm, or "Thanatos" by the infected, laid in a state of hibernation until it was awoken and it infected those that dared to walk into its habitat. The Neurax Worm is a small tentacled larvae that can enter through the ear and burrow its many jellyfish-like stingers into the brain. There, the larvae will grow by feeding off of the electric pulses sent by the brain and later grow to manipulate the host. Many believe that the first infected was Gregory Smith, for he was the first to set foot in the caverns, but he shall be known as "Patient Zero" from now on.

As the miners went back home, they not only brought back gold, but they also brought back the infectious worm. Soon after miners came back, they started to act different. The miners appeared more happy than usual, but as was expected at the time after bringing home gold and a national declaration of friendship between two tense nations. This made it to where the plague was able to spread virtually unnoticed. Six months later, the miners become unusually aggressive, and report about visions of Rapture and a overlord species. The miners were admitted to the hospital and the worm was finally discovered. However, soon after the information of the worm was released, reports of the worm came from all over the world. Mankind had no idea what was about to happen.

Present Day: June 5th, 2028
It has been 13 and a half years since the worm has been discovered. Anarchy is widespread and the worm has already claimed most of the world. Hundreds of millions of people die from the anarchy. Work towards a cure has been taken on by small time scientists and is very slow. They don't have the technology to study the worm, and the worm dies the moment it is extracted from the brain. The infected start working together, but thanks to their aggression and devotion to the worm, they are only able to cause more chaos.

You are a resident in Florida, America and are a part of a small community of uninfected. Word just got to you a short while ago that a man who goes by the name of Saint Gregory has been identified as the first infected, Patient Zero. If he were to be captured, the genome of the very first worm can be easily sequenced, and a hope for a cure can be achieved. The only problem is that he is located in his home in Anchorage, Alaska. To get to this man, you will have to trek through 2 countries of wasteland and bandits to make it to Anchorage, not to mention what is waiting for you once you make it there. Will you join the expedition to end this madness once and for all?

What is known about the worm
~~They spread through eggs that can attach themselves to the fur of animals.
~~The eggs can hibernate for up to 2 months and hatch once they experience a jump in temperature (attached to human skin)
~~They take 6 months to fully mature.
~~Those infected are unusually aggressive, mostly towards those who are not infected.
~~The infected report visions of Rapture and a "Glorious Overlord Species".
~~Those infected devote their lives and worship the worm.
~~The very first side effect of the worm is rapid eye blinking followed by unusual bouts of happiness and glee.
~~The infected experience huge bouts of ADHD and cannot control themselves.
~~The worm is rapidly mutating, and can be very unpredictable.
~~The infected can "sense" an uninfected from about 20ft, so there is no hope of fooling an infected that you are one of them.
