"Hahaha yes! No one caught me!" Lorilee thought to herself as she finally glanced out towards the nearby beach once she hit the surface of the water. The sun was just sinking below the horizon, meaning that no one should be out on the beach now giving her free reign until daylight. With near silent movements she skimmed the surface of the ocean before reaching one of the larger rocks near the beach, and after glancing out once more she pulled herself up onto the rock.
Just from a glance it was not hard to see that Lorilee was not a normal girl, in fact she wasn't a girl at all. She was a mermaid to be more precise, one of a rare race that lived in the farthest reaches of the ocean. Since humans seemed to find her race so appealing to capture, she made it a point to only come out here near at night when no one was around, mainly because this particular beach captivated her for some reason. It was so remote with only a large mansion sitting high up on a nearby cliff, but it looked so old she wondered if anyone even lived there anymore. Maybe she was being to curious but in all honesty, she didn't care to much after all what chance was there that anyone would see her down here in the dark anyway.

"Slim to none that's what." She said in answer to her own question and just for the fun of it she started singing in her hauntingly beautiful voice. Call that another trait she shared with other females of her race, but unlike them she sang more for herself then to try and lure some crazy human. She didn't really see the fun in that, but then again she wasn't exactly a typical mermaid anyway.

Nathan stared out the window, looking solely at the quarter moon in the starless black sky. The weather was clear, no rain or other troublesome precipitation to worry about. He deemed this as the perfect time to get some fresh air for staying in the mansion all day was a bore, there was nothing to do but do as he currently was; staring out the attic window which was collecting a lot of dust. Giving one last glance out the window he turned to leave, but paused abruptly when the sound of singing reached his ears. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Striding back to the window, his eyes darted around searching for the source.

On one of the beach rocks was a figure. He couldn't see their face well but from what he gathered it was a young woman. Leaning a bit closer to the window where his nose slightly touched the cool glass he continued to watch and listen. Usually he wouldn't be this curious about a human, who was a woman no less, but oddly he was attracted to her. Whether that be good or bad he didn't know nor cared at the moment.

His eyes widened like saucers for a split second then returned to their normal state. He could have sworn he saw a tail moving. 'Impossible.' He thought to himself, slightly moving back from the window. He had to be hallucinating. It was probably just the attic dust getting to him. But he was still curious. Since he was about to go to the beach for a walk, perhaps he could check it out just to ease his curiosity.

With one last glance he left the window on his way to the beach.

For just a split second, Lorilee felt the sinking suspicioun that someone was watching her and her singing suddenly stopped as she glanced behind her towards the beach. No one was in sight, and only the usual nighttime sounds could be heard but she could have sworn she felt as if eyes were staring right at her while she was singing.

"Okay, that was strange." She thought and with a shrug she went right back to her singing, but just to be safe she let herself slid back into the water and kept close to the rocks in case she needed to hide herself rather quickly. By now the moon had risen and Lorilee found herself watching it with an almost fascinated look. She had always loved coming up to the surface just to watch the moon, and sometimes the stars when they were visible. To her this was more beautiful then anything in the daylight could be, but then again she was rather biased when it came to things like that. However, that's just how she was. Not only that but she loved to watch the moonlight flicker off the water, especially when it was full.

"Oh well I guess I am a little simple minded." Loreilee thought since it seemed that things like that interested her the most. Although she was eternally grateful that she wasn't as ditzy as some other mermaids she knew, which in many respects was probably a good thing. At least that kept her more on guard out here, since she was about to have some unexpected company.
