Brandt: Rubicon

Brandt: Rubicon

0 INK

500 years ago, a world war erupted between empires and between man and demon. Catastrophes struck. Now, history is about to repeat itself as empires threaten to rise once again in a final push against their enemies, and against the darkness.

934 readers have visited Brandt: Rubicon since Wargamer created it.

Introduction

RUBICON

INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD
Rubicon: \'rü-bi-kän\
: a bounding or limiting line especially: one that when crossed commits a person irrevocably
ORIGIN: Latin Rubicon-, Rubico, river of northern Italy forming part of the boundary between Cisalpine Gaul and Italy whose crossing by Julius Caesar in 49 B.C. was regarded by the Senate as an act of war.

It has been five centuries since the last Great War in the continent of Brandt. Back then, swords clanged and armor slowed everyone down. Now, however, war has evolved with the use of black powder-powered weapons as industry improved.
Image
Five centuries ago, the darkness called the Warper entered the continent of Brandt as jealousy, greed, and evil spread throughout the lands. The Cruislani Empire, lead by the brave and true saint and warrior, Emperor John Blackwood V, marched towards the land of Sodo and waged war against the darkness. Noting this as an act of war, the Kingdom of Bendan attacked Cruisland, and forced them to defend. To the West, in Windhall, the king has been murdered, forcing his son, the Crown Prince, to turn their cannons toward men who ordered his father's execution: the Chorus Congress and Senate. The Congress joined powers with Bendan, Versia, Gaul, and Tir, while Blackwood was forced to take up arms against his own cousin, the Empirio of Tir, and ally with Windhall and Rubivan. However, from Sodo, darkness continued to rise, allowing gateways to the Warp to open. From inside, demonic entities crawled out and ravaged it. Eventually, the warring empires were forced to turn their attention to the demons and fight. For two decades, they fought as Blackwood weakened with old age. Eventually, the darkness was pushed back into the Warp, but not before the Demon Lord Var'ganuuth crawled out and pushed the armies of humanity back again. Eventually, humanity began its final push against the demons: the push towards the Winter Wastelands. Seeing everything he had built crumble before his eyes, the Demon Lord challenged the old Blackwood to a duel. With the blessed sword Noble Gold, Blackwood finished Var'ganuuth and sent him back to the Warp. However, as soon as the battle ended, Blackwood collapsed and died of exhaustion due to old age and the lengthy sword fight. When the war against darkness finished, the Cruislani Empire surrendered, and Windhall and Rubivan was surrounded, therefore disbanding all three empires and leaving behind two weak republics and a weak kingdom of Windhall.
The Threat of War

A five hundred-year peace reigned throughout the land. The kingdoms rebuilt themselves and industry reigned. However, once again, barbarianism and sinfulness began to take the world by storm as the great wall of ice, stone, and steel that held the demons at bay begins to weaken. The exiled Blackwood family living under the safety of the now-friendly Tir has begun to move to reclaim their rightful place on the Cruislani Throne. However, the world is plagued not only by demons and the war, but also by a disease that turns rats and humans mad, as well as a growing number of crimes.
____
The trade system of Cruislani isn't too complex. Its system of money is by regular old gold, copper, silver, and tin, with gold being the highest, and copper being lowest. This is also a world run by the power of a fuel known as 'Prismatic Energy', which are practically charged gems that are used to power most of the technology in Cruisland, being the equivalent of oil in our very own Industrial Revolution. It is fought over, as it is very valuable, and found only in the mines of Tir, Cruisland, and Versia.

As mentioned above, the use of black powder/gunpowder is prominent, especially in warfare, though the technology of their guns are only as advanced as flintlocks, though in this time period, I plan to introduce breechloader needle rifles like the Dreyse Needle Rifle. In addition to that, bows are no longer used, and swords are limited only to estocs, sabers, and rapiers.

NATIONS
The Kingdom of Gaul: A liberal nationalist empire filled with smart generals and a desperate monarch. The monarch, a former general, seized the throne after it was left covered in dust after the execution of the whole royal family by terrorists.
The Republic of Farsivil: The remnants of the former Cruisland, made up of many more states that are tearing themselves apart; largest state is the Free State of Cruisland. It strives to be an empire once more, as the chancellor of the Free State plans on reuniting the one dozen separated kingdoms and duchies under the flag of the new Farsivillian Empire. He also wishes to return the Blackwood family, exiled in Tir, to their rightful place as king. However, it has quarrels with the Kingdom of Bruchen due to different preferences of monarchs, though both have the same mighty industrial level. It has a bicolor banner with three stripes, starting with black at the top, gold at the middle, and black again at the bottom, with a small black two-headed eagle at the gold stripe. Its soldiers wear a black to blue coats with golden cuffs.
Kingdom of Bruchen: The second largest state in Farsivil, which wishes to also restore the monarchy, but this time under the leadership of the Bruchen monarch, whose family had once served Cruisland before its fall. It has the same banner as Cruisland, though having red and white instead of black and gold as a color. Its military wears red coats with white cuffs.
The Republic of Rubivan: A once-glorious empire that ruled half the world, now a nation filled with incompetency, corruption, and economic breakdowns. It is ruled by parliament, though thousands of civilians and soldiers wish to restore the monarchy. It is the center of the Good Faith, the religion dedicated to morality, spirituality, sciences, and the worship of the Universe, the living entity most in Brandt see as god. It has a green white and red banner with a golden eagle at the center. Its soldiers wear light green coats with white cuffs.
The Kingdom of Windhall: A third-world kingdom that ruled vast territories with Rubivan, now the last defense of Brandt against a horde of barbarians from the Great Plains. It was once a state of the Rubivan Empire before being separated by the quarreling brothers that ruled the kingdom. It has high walls and strong guards dedicated to defending Brandt from the barbarians in the South. Its banner is white with black pillars and a roof around a swirling symbol. Its military wears white with gold cuffs.
The Bendan Empire: A mighty empire that once ruled the South, now slowly losing its power over its colonies, though growing industrially stronger every day. Its monarch is a good monarch, though holds almost no power, especially after the civil war, in which the parliament was established and proved to be more powerful than the monarch. Its banner is blue with a red cross at the center, with its soldiers usually wearing blue coats with red cuffs.
The Kingdom of Versia: A mighty kingdom that once ruled the waves and lead the successful capture of an important Windhall beachhead in the Great War, as well as the liberation of Tir from sea. It grows in industry, especially in the realms of creating vessels. Its king is elected by different electors, making the kingdom more of a republic than a kingdom, though the king has absolute power. Its banner is gray with a black ship, its soldiers wearing gray coats with black cuffs.
Imperial Tir: The large and mighty bear from the icy north, and guardians of the wall, now being threatened to be taken over by the socialists as the monarch's power fades. It has the largest industry in all of Brandt, while also occupying the largest territory. It is also great in agriculture, and is an exporter of different fruits and vegetables native only to Tir. The Empirio is a strongman and a natural-born warrior, having power over the largest three million-man army of Tir. He is a good friend of the royal family of Cruisland, being a relative of the head of the Blackwoods. Its banner is white, yellow, and blue with a red cross at the center. Its soldiers wear red with gold cuffs.
The Demon Army/The Warper: An army from an unknown universe that has come to corrupt the minds of the wicked, turning them into mindless beasts. Unlike men, they don't have any industrial capabilities, though they have destructive cannons and rifles. Unlike men, they also still use broadswords, axes, and hammers as weapons, and wear heavy armor that can only be penetrated by powerful rifles. There are, however, some humans who have defected and willingly joined the Demon Army for different reasons. The Demon Army is ruled from beyond the Warp by unknown entities, and each legion is commanded by a powerful Demon Lord.
Barbarians: Uncivilized soldiers, though the best at cavalry warfare. They only care about expanding their lands. Their ways are... odd, to say the least. Their armies usually consist of muscular men wielding only heavy swords, bows, and, occasionally, matchlock muskets. Their art of firing on the move is feared throughout the world, with their horses strong, and the men who mount them skilled. The barbarians are usually separated into tribes, the biggest and most skillful being the Kuhn. Each is ruled by a tribe leader, who are usually violent and strong.
More information about the kingdoms will be posted on the OOC, or in the posting area.
