Crusade of Man

In the year 2500, there came upon the colonies a dark age of tyranny under the rule of the Bolshevist Directory and the Coalition. Now, in 5000 AD, a rebellion stirs in every corner of the world, but which faction will emerge victorious in the end?

It is a natural process for something to die, or expire. Humans, animals, and especially, empires. As Sun Tzu said: But a kingdom that has once been destroyed can never come again into being. In the year 2200, the empire of the Coalition almost fell in the hands of the Federation of Terra. It was in 2300 when it began. Humanity had progressed deeper into unity with the help of strict immigration laws and border controls. Even though it seemed illogical, it worked well enough. The reinforced borders brought about a sense of patriotism, and gradually, that patriotism evolved from not only a love for their own countrymen, but love for the rest of the world. Crime rates dropped very significantly, and tipped at 0%. With unity fulfilled, Humanity did something insane and kept their weapons of mass destruction, locking them up, never to be used again. Of course, Man still employed the use of knives and batons in order to keep everyone in order, but other than that, there were no other dangerous weapons. This proved to be quite a fatal mistake. Mankind thought it was alone, but it wasn't. From the stars descended an enemy hell-bent on destroying Human civilisation, crushing all they built, and taking the survivors as slaves. They thought of Humans as being vastly inferior beings, and they believed that it was their birthright to rule the entire Universe with all their luxuries and their innate need and want to fulfil all their dangerous, lustful indulgences. They were hedonistic, and had their heads up way too high.

Mankind saw these aliens as a threat, and banded together. In the first wave, Mankind was unsuccessful. And so, they reopened their vaults, and took back their weapons. They could barely hold out, but that was when a near-immortal experienced general who had lived since the beginning of the 21st Century came to the picture. His military brilliance, once shunned by the modern world, became its only hope. He ordered massive battles and engagements, all carefully planned, executed, and timed. And so, the Central Earth Government fell, and in its place was born the Federation of Terra, ruled by the First Governor and Consul. He did what the old powers refused to do, and launched the nuclear warheads upon the orbital ships, destroying all means of communication and transport between the soldiers and those they served. With the upper hand, Mankind crushed the invasion force, leaving none left alive. It was here when Mankind found a new goal: the conquest of the galaxy. So, for fifty years, Man prepared, building massive orbital warships and weaponry, leaving behind their old values of complete pacifism, which stated: "Man shall not fight Man." They didn't completely leave it behind, but added this: "Man shall not fight Man, however, Man shall fight any other intelligent species that isn't Human."

They found themselves to be greater than the Coalition, and began to wreak havoc on the Coalition's colonies, taking them for themselves. Mankind rose to power as a significant threat to the Coalition, but as Mankind later learned, it wasn't just the Coalition of five species and Humanity in this galaxy: there were powers far more greater and ruinous.

It was in 2500 when the Bolsheviks came into the picture. They started small, but soon, the money being wasted on the defence effort drew so much from the citizens that the movement garnered so much support that it blinded people with their false promises of a utopia. In the planet of Elvina, at the edge of the Human colonies, the Bolshevist revolution began, and by 2530, the Bolsheviks had taken care of the star system next to the Sol System. In Elvina, the Bolsheviks sought peace with the Coalition, and both fought in Karas, the planet stronghold that defended the Sol System. The Federation forces fell moments later, and Karas was destroyed by a low-orbit bombardment. The destruction of the planet caused the deaths of billions, and was the gateway to the Sol System. The Federation finally fell, and Mankind stayed in the Sol System, vowing never to expand any further than that.

For the past two thousand five hundred years, Mankind was ruled over by the Directory: the government built by the Bolsheviks. Though many don't know about it, every day, millions of lives are exterminated as a result of their communist rules which does not allow for men to rise above anyone else. Because of the horrible conditions in such a world, and because of the ever-growing population, Mankind has grown restless. In the dark corners of every single world, there brews a rebellion. Thoughts of a grand revolution stir in the minds of military generals who experienced the atrocities made by the communists. Right now, as we speak, the Grand General of the Army flies back to the heart of Terra: Marx State. With him is his army, and in his mind are thoughts of rebellion.

The question now remains: who will emerge victorious?

Image

THE DIRECTORY– When the Federation was destroyed, in its place came the Bolshevik Revolutionary Council, now known as the Directory. It is known for being a communist society, in which communism works at the cost of the lives of millions of men per week: millions of men who refused to participate, millions of men who chose to instead build their own businesses to seek their own fortunes. It spans from Terra all the way to Pluto, with some registered citizens inhabiting alien planets. Its soldiers number in the billions, and its labour force is gigantic, which is owed in part to the slave labourers sent to the labour camps scattered across Terra and her other planets.

THE WHITE GUARD– The White Guard is a partisan force that was consisted of loyalists loyal to the Governors of the Federation. Now, however, the White Guard seeks only one thing: the deposing of the tyrannical Bolshevik government, and the installation of a new ruler who returns Mankind to its former glory. There are various factions of the White Guard scattered across the Human colonies. Though they mostly hide in the shadows as assassins who secretly infiltrate and capture strategic points, the more successful and larger factions like the Aegis Faction, split further into three branches scattered throughout three planets, have active fighting forces which fight government forces in guerrilla warfare.

THE COALITION– The Coalition is a union of five major alien species that once ruled an overwhelming majority of the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy, and three other neighbouring galaxies. In their first contacts with each other, there was only war between the five species, but this war lead to the search of peace. The end result was the Coalition, which was united under the belief that all other inferior races must be crushed. Humans were one of these species that were deemed barbaric and uncivilised, and were ordered by the Council to be exterminated. They sent the Hundredth Legion to Terra, then named Earth, to exterminate the Human species, but encountered hard resistance. Their ships were all destroyed by weapons of mass destruction, and from then on, Humanity began to invest once more in weapons.

A. Crandorians– The Crandorians were once a mighty empire that ruled alone as the sovereigns of the Andromeda Galaxy. They are characterised by their white skin and deep, sunken, red eyes. They are humanoid, but are far from Human. Their homeland and place of evolution is a volcanic planet with no vegetation, but plenty of predators.

B. The Elders– The Elders are an amphibious reptilian species that once had their empire spanning two galaxies, including the Milky Way, when their species was nearly destroyed by a species of corporeal energy-consuming gods worshipped by another empire from a distant galaxy.

C. Oxcidonians– The Oxcidonians had their origins as creations of the Elders, having thick, black skin. They had tusks, and had hard, buff bodies. They were massive and strong, but lack intelligence. They are usually used as cannon fodder being deployed in the millions, breaking through thick lines in a matter of hours.

D. Sodomites– The Sodomites are a dangerous species that practise hedonism and immoral deeds. These deeds have widely influenced the rest of the Coalition member species, but also have their influences extend to Human souls, corrupting them.

E. The Brutes– Brutes are usually similar to Oxcidonians in terms of size and strength, save for the fact that, despite their names, they are much more intelligent and aren't actually used as cannon fodder, but are instead the bulk of the fighting force. Brutes are usually hairy like apes.

THE CORRUPTION– The Corruption is a force fuelled and born out from dark emotions and desires from various species. Their histories are shrouded, but the only thing for certain is this: the Corruption exists in the heart and soul of every living organism, just waiting to manifest itself. It corrupts men, and makes them do evil things to please their masters. Its armies are quite literally innumerable, as every single evil wish and thought from every living intelligent being creates a single entity.

Titans make up the ranks of heavy units, usually being employed against other Titans, fortifications, buildings, or infantry. There are mostly used for frontline offensives and defensives, while some classes are meant for close-support roles, like mortar- and artillery-equipped Titans, charge with the infantry in lightning attacks, though they sometimes stay on high ground or behind allied lines to bombard the enemy from long range. They can be equipped with various armour thicknesses and components, weapons, and shapes, and Coalition nobles are able to form their own lines of Titans, though some keep their own Titans special to their family only.

General Johann Bellum stood inside the flagship of the small flotilla's bridge. He wore a grey trench coat draped over his military uniform. The trench coat itself had a pair of epaulettes coloured gold on both shoulders. Atop his head sat a black peaked cap with a silver winged Death's Head on it. His left hand clutched the hilt of his dagger, and his right hand held a tablet. On it was an invitation back to Terra, to the Marx State, after two years of service in Pluto, where his men were freezing, and now, after two years, he returned under orders by two members of the Parliament. Johann had been angered after learning about the attacks and exterminating of Human subjects in various Coalition planets, and even more angered by the fact that the Bolsheviks weren't planning on doing anything about it. Obviously, this caused further dissent, unpopularity, and discontent with the Bolshevik Directory, which had recently gone bankrupt due to the lack of farmlands and livestock to produce food for the starving civilians. This was enough. Johann had fought a battle against the White Guard in Pluto, but this faction was way too strong. He was surrounded, and defeated in battle for the first time, but that didn't mean he was demoted. Instead, he fell back and garrisoned himself as the White Guard continued to close in on him. His thoughts were radically changed in his time there, defending himself and his men against the White Guard, whose propaganda began to impress him and change him. T be honest, the moves the White Guard made surprised him.

Bellum had given his men in the garrisons to surrender unconditionally to the White Guard, while the rest joined him to return to Terra, to Marx State in Frankfurt. He was asked to return by these two parliamentary members because of one thing: they wanted a coup. In fact, these two parliamentary members were the vice president and a member of the Defence Ministry, and they had garnered the support of three other generals, five naval admirals, and two air force generals. Before he knew it, the ships had touched down by the orbital ports, which were massive towers that lead to the surface from a kilometre above the ground. He stepped out the ship, accompanied by his men, and entered the first elevator down to the surface.

Below, as he reached the surface, the people gathered. They cheered as the hero descended from the heavens after two years of campaigning in Pluto. They believed that the Great General was there to speak personally with the Ministry of Defence and the rest of the generals of the army in Terra. They thought they were there to celebrate their victories. It was, after all, on the day a week before Victory Day, when the Bolsheviks assumed full control over the government twenty-five hundred years ago. Little do the people know that their "Victory Day" would be turned into something much grander.

After setting his armies, General Johann Bellum walked towards the office of the High Command, five loyal guards following close behind him. Everyone there knew of the events that were to unfold. In front of the Roman-styled building in Marx State, there stood two soldiers standing guard by the pillars. They wore olive green uniforms and helmets, brown boots to cover their feet and shins, and they knew what was to happen. At least, the one on the right did. The guard to the left must be exterminated. They carried black assault rifles that were fully loaded, and as Bellum walked towards the pillars, the soldiers saluted in respect. He walked through the open door, and as he did, soldiers on guard saluted. Men on duty, specifically adjutants in brown uniforms carrying papers, walked around and saluted at the sight of Bellum as he walked through its massive halls. The tiles and the paintings on the ceiling displaying wonderful art were painted over with grey paint. Once, it might have enthralled Bellum, but now, he had nothing but hatred for the regime he had served. Three of the generals who supported the coup walked over to him and saluted. Johann saluted back. "The Third Army is prepared to advance to Maine," said one; "The Tenth Army is ready to besiege New York," said the next; "My battalions are split evenly and are in position by the borders of California," said the last. "Good," Johann said silently, before raising his voice. "All, gather around me!" he shouted. The men began to converge around Bellum. Soldiers left their posts, and officers came to listen. Some of the individuals had no idea what was happening in front of them as they gathered around the centre, where Bellum stood.

One of Bellum's privates brought him a platform to stand upon as hundreds began to flock to the centre of the hall. There was a disorderly commotion. "Gentlemen!" Johann shouted. "Gentlemen! Your ears to me!" he repeated, louder. The men quieted down. "Today shall be a historic day!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the halls, "Today, we shall bring down a regime that has terrorised the people for far too long! Soldiers and officers, today, we shall fight for freedom from the oppression of these communist terrorists; we fight for our future, we fight for our children, and we fight for our liberty! Saluto!" The soldiers saluted. "Ave Libertas!" they shouted in unison. "From the skies we shall pour the wrath upon these wretches! From the east, our guns will blast these devils back to hell! From the west, our ships will dock, and we shall pursue them, and the blood of the traitors shall water our fields!" The hundreds of soldiers cheered. Their day of glory had arrived.

"Begin the operation!" Bellum shouted. Radiomen got to work, scuttling off as officers returned to their posts, doing their work. Johann turned around to exit. "General, where are you going?" asked one of Bellum's fellow generals. "I shall go to the front," replied Johann, "My men need me there, and I wish to be the first one to witness the downfall of this vast damned government." Johann exited and climbed down the stairs, just in time when he heard the sound of a submachine gun firing and stopping as he reached the bottom the steps in front of the massive building. There was a bloodstain on the wall where the guardsman to the left stood once before. In front of him, one of his guards carried a submachine gun with a smoking barrel. "Come, comrades!" he told his guardsmen.

As he exited High Command, a police vehicle pulled up in front of building, by its gates, and out came a few police officers who were clearly armed. "General!" asked one officer, saluting. "Speak," Bellum told the oblivious police officer before raising his hand to signal the man to be at ease. "Sir, soldiers are bombarding government buildings! The signals from their radio lead here!" explained one of the two police officers. "Do you know of what's happening?" "Not a clue," Johann said. He extended his arm forward, and flicked it. A machine strapped to his arm activated, allowing a small hidden pistol to pop out from under his sleeve. Bellum's soldiers aimed their guns at the officers as the hidden pistol pointed in between the eyes of the police officer who spoke. "Tell nobody, and we'll spare you," he said remorselessly. "Never!" said the officer who came along. He attempted to draw his pistol, but this gesture was met with twenty bullets riddling his body, blood squirting out as the bullets impacted. He fell dead on the cobblestone ground, blood pooling out from underneath him. "Lieutenant Johnson," Bellum told one of his men, "take his officer as our first POW." Lieutenant Johnson, who wore a white uniform with a peaked cap sitting on his head, smacked the stock of his gun onto the officer's belly. The officer grunted and fell to the ground as Johnson removed all his weapons. "The rest of you come with me."

Character Portrait: Eugen Schmidt

Eugen stood at the top of a cliff, looking down at the mass of men flocking through the passage. Though dark, the artificial lights set up by the White Guard had turned Pluto into quite a well-lit place, looking almost like some subterranean place. Behind Eugen stood the mighty iron-poled flag of the White Guard: a white field with a golden lion roaring victoriously. Though the winds were violent and strong, the flag held on. The strong winds would have almost certainly knocked off Eugen off into oblivion down with the Bolsheviks marching to surrender had it not been for his suit. The suit is made of composite steel, and is eight tons heavy in Terra gravity, but is powered by a nuclear reactor that can still make it very efficient in denser planets. The suit is quite large, standing at two and a half meters tall.

Eugen's face is covered with his gas mask, which did nothing to shield most of the cold. The rest of his head, however, is covered by a metal shell that heated his body. One of Eugen's men came up behind him. "Captain Schmidt," the man said loudly, "We weren't able to locate General Bellum in the enemy's march." "That's fine," replied Eugen. "He isn't going to be doing anything to compromise nor defeat us." "How do you know, sir?" asked the soldier. "I know because I've convinced him that our cause is greater than his government's," replied Eugen, who spoke no further about the matter.

He continued to observe the marching column from above. They were like ants from the heights of the cliff.

They were nearly done. All that was left was the defeat of a small 2000-man Bolshevik force under Colonel Styles, which was composed of the most radical communists among Bellum's armies. Half of the unit was holed up in the fort while another 1000-man force remained outside as a relief force in case the fort was besieged. They were holed up in a good position, however, taking a huge stone fort atop a hill. The White Guard thought that it was a good idea for Eugen to lead his 250-man battery to destroy the entire enemy force and take the fort. That was exactly what he was going to do, and he was going to waste no more time. "Come, soldier," the captain said, "We must take the last fort."

They were only a quarter of the enemy's strength, but Schmidt knew how to handle such a situation. He knew that by besieging the fort, he would put his battery into a terrible position, but he knew how to handle terrible positions. The two men entered a large tracked infantry vehicle, which began to roll out. Eugen was dropped off by a small encampment fifty kilometers away from the fort, where he entered the main tent, where all his officers converged.

"Good day, gentlemen," said Eugen Schmidt. His lieutenants saluted. "At ease, men." The three lieutenants eased themselves and converged around the table. "What's the situation?" he asked. "The hill where the fort stands is formidable," replied one lieutenant, "We can only fire artillery shells from the bottom, but the dangers there is the fact that though they don't have hard-hitting weaponry left to counter our batteries, they still have a superior infantry force with a compliment of tanks which they can use to roll over us, and we'd have no way to counter it." Eugen looked down on the map, which was placed on a metal table. "There's elevated ground over here," said he, pointing to the northeast of the fort. "I know, sir," said the lieutenant, "but the problem is getting up there." "How many climber Titans do we still have left in our battery?" "Five, sir." "That's enough to get men up to that piece of elevated ground. Prepare everything: we move out tomorrow."

The next day, they moved out. Climber Titans were sent out with fifty infantrymen behind them, while the rest of the Artillery Titans and regular artillery were sent to surround the small but tall hill. Eugen's plan had ben executed five millennia ago, and he was certain that the strategy would still work. For one week, his men built a wall of Czech hedgehogs, heavy Belgian gates, mines, and concertina wire, all in the cover of the harsh storms that plagued the planet. A week later, they were prepared, with a few artillery pieces set on the elevated ground by the fort. It was on a dark, stormy night when Eugen gave the command to fire. The guns were pointing a bit off-course to compensate for the strong 80m/s winds.

When Eugen gave the command, the guns lit up one by one. Twenty or so guns lit up from multiple sections of the wall, and it was clear that the fort was being hit. A few hours after the relentless bombardment began, however, the first enemy charge began. The tanks rolled downhill with infantry in an attempt to break out. They numbered five hundred men, according to Schmidt's scanners. They were met with surprise and instant death as hidden machine gun entrenchments tore through the infantry's armor, and as gun-howitzers fired directly at the tanks that started running downhill. The mines exploded and took out tanks and infantry, while surviving tanks were stopped by the Czech hedgehogs and Belgian gates, and were subsequently shot down by the rest of the gun-howitzers. The charge was short-lived thanks to their unpreparedness. A few hours later, a relief force came to relieve Styles' unit under the command of one of Styles' officers, which came charging up the elevated position. They were slow, but got there and caught the soldiers there off-guard, forcing them into a retreat down near the fort's walls, and eventually, down the hill.

Eugen then sent out twenty tanks and fifty men to deal with the situation in order to meet the enemy headfirst while a mobile artillery unit snuck around the back. While a bulk of the 1000-man relief force attacked from the elevated position down to the tanks by the fort, two hundred enemies from the fort attacked the small unit's rear. The climbing Titans moved into position as the rest of the relief force attempted to attack the entrenched White Guard troops. They were defeated, but the entrenched White Guards barely won. Eugen took small units with him to start reinforcing sections that were beginning to collapse, when the entrenched White Guards were given the order to slowly climb the hill through a weak point in their own lines.

The entrenched White Guards, numbering 100 men, infiltrated the fort under Eugen's orders through a small hole in the wall and slaughtered the Bolsheviks inside, including those attempting to attack the small unit from the rear. They lost nothing while the Bolsheviks, who had been blockaded for far too long, lost all of their men inside the fort. Outside the fort, the small White Guard force of fifty men and twenty tanks were being slaughtered when the climbing Titans eventually made it back up the elevated position and sandwiched the 1000-man force. The 100-man unit inside the fort reinforced the 20 tanks while the 50 remaining men under the command of Eugen himself split into two and began to redirect the enemy's assault in all positions. That was when a lucky artillery shell found itself into the Bolshevik camp, destroying all their means of communication. All hell broke loose, and the disorganized Bolsheviks were slaughtered by the small force. Thus was the genius and luck of Eugen Schmidt.

GUSTAF GLADIUM

Gustaf Gladium stood clad in his light assault power armour, or LAPA, his guns prepared and loaded: an assault rifle with an extended drum mag resting on his shoulder, a pistol magnetised to his hip, and a power sword slung on his hip. The last Bolshevik stronghold in Helsinki stood in front of them in the form of a port with naval artillery scattered across the harbour of Katajanokka. His men had encircled it, and artillery had aimed at it from afar. He looked at his adjutant, who was by a radio. Gustaf stood by the doorframe, looking at the port, which had been covered in walls. The radio tower that once stood there now stood smouldering, preventing any radio signals from reaching anywhere else, thanks to the heavy jammers the White Guard employed to jam all their signals except the signals being transmitted from the very tall radio tower that once stood.

"Tell the soldiers to begin the operation," Gustaf told his adjutant. "Yes, sir," replied his adjutant. Gustaf put on his heavy steel helmet, which had a slope to decrease chances of penetration from heavy machine guns. He exited the building, and without even looking, he gestured, and his men standing guard by the building followed him. Unlike Gustaf who wore LAPA, his men wore simple armour that covered their breasts, faces, and heads. Their helmets were similar to the German stahlhelms of the 20th century, and they wore gas masks and black breastplates, while they carried a lighter variant of the assault rifle Gustaf carried, with one of the ten carrying an anti-fortification rocket. Another of the ten carried the flag of the White Guard, but his variation had a golden cross behind the lion.

They went down the recently-liberated road, and down to the port, just in time to see the massive explosion that tore through the walls, creating a breech. "Come on," Gustaf told his men before he began to sprint at full speed. The armour didn't weigh much, but it had enough armour to stop bullets with a calibre below 12.7mm. His men sprinted with him, forming a column behind the better-armoured Gustaf, when MG fire from one of the towers on the wall pounded on Gustaf's armour. Luckily, it was only a light machine gun. Gustaf gave enough suppressive fire from his assault rifle to allow eight of his ten soldiers to get behind cover in the street. They broke down doors and entered the houses while some hid under the cover of sandbags and concrete fortifications. "Rocket, fire at that building!" Gustaf shouted. The lieutenant who carried a rocket replied with a loud and firm, "Yes sir!" and popped up from behind Gustaf as the old man fired his guns. He aimed at the tower, which was still lighting up the street. "Firing!" he said as he pulled the trigger. The rocket screeched out the launcher, and hit the tower dead-centre. The explosion blew apart the tower, allowing the soldiers to advance further. They charged in through the breech, accompanied by tanks and men passing through another street.

A super heavy tank passed through, allowing Gustaf and his men to get up behind it and use it as cover. The moment they passed the walls, the tanks were already under fire from heavy machine guns which would have penetrated Gustaf's armour in a pinch. Gustaf looked over the top of the tank's hull, his gun pointed on the direction he was looking. He saw a few men carrying rocket launchers pop out from behind concrete cover, but before they could fire, Gustaf had already riddle them with bullets. Eventually, the tank's turret traversed to the right by a few degrees, and the gun elevated to point at a building covered in machine gunners, as made evident by the yellow muzzle flashes coming from every window.

The massive gun on the super heavy roared. It was 170mm in calibre, and the shell that hit the building blew apart most of the building's face before it collapsed a few moments later. As Gustaf and his men continue being supported by the tanks to the port, he heard as the tank behind them was immobilised. Gustaf looked behind him to see that it had a massive, smoking hole on its side. It was definitely an anti-tank rocket fired from the cover of a building. He looked through every space between the building, and eventually saw smoke erupt from behind one of the buildings as a rocket flew past a tank, barely missing it. He saw the man who fired the rocket, and using his assault rifle, he aimed. The man was on the other side of a building, but his head was exposed through the window, and Gustaf fired a three-round burst. The bullets shattered the glass and two entered straight through the man's head.

The last stronghold in Finland stood by the port. It was a building too massive to be destroyed in one shot by the enemy. Besides, they needed somewhere to place their flag. "Come one!" Gustaf shouted to his men, gesturing for them to follow him. He entered the building, his original ten soldiers following closely behind him while an additional ten soldiers came along to give support. The entrance was quite empty, and just when Gustaf thought that the entrance was clear, someone from the foyer opened fire. It was a single man carrying a machine gun, which began to slaughter the lightly-armoured White Guard infantrymen, but Gustaf's armour just deflected all of them. He took aim at the muzzle flash and pulled the trigger, allowing a burst of five bullets to take care of the gunner. "Move out!" Gustaf commanded. "Split up; flag bearer, come with me. The rest of you clear the east and west wings while we get to the top through the centre." "Yes, sir," said the soldiers. The twenty men split into three groups, with more men coming with Gustaf. As expected, the central route was more deadlier. When Gustaf broke down the door through the centre, he was greeted with a massive meeting hall. An iron hammer and sickle stood at the far end of the wall, and a statue of Marx stood at the centre. Just as they entered, they were immediately greeted by assault rife fire. There were no more heavy machine guns firing at them.

The bullets bounced harmlessly off Gustaf's armour, but the regular infantry that came with Gustaf were more vulnerable. His men opened fire blindly, and Gustaf slowly lumbered to cover to allow his men to catch up. The eight men that came with Gustaf crouched down behind a concrete wall that was erected to block whoever was on the other side, but it worked just as well if you hid behind the front of the wall. Gustaf opened fire as his men tried to get close. His assault rifle's bullets, 10mm in calibre, began to hit the enemy soldiers as they popped out. The men from the top floor began to open fire, as well, but Gustaf aimed upward. His gun lit up, and began to fly in the direction of the enemy. His men snuck around and found suitable positions and began to fire from there. "Up those stairs!" shouted Gustaf, pointing at a staircase behind the statue of Marx that lead upward. One by one, his men ran towards the staircase, which was defended as Gustaf stayed behind to distract the enemy. His men reached the second floor, where they assaulted the men at the top from their flanks. They stormed the rooms at the top, with a few rooms calling for cleansing. The 'cleansing' was finished when the guns stopped firing. "All clear up top!" one of the lieutenants said from the top. "All clear down below!" Gustaf added as he ran to the stairs. He threw a grenade by the foot of the Marx statue, and the explosion blew apart the stone statue's legs. The statue fell on the ground from its platform, and crumbled under its own weight. "Follow me to the roof!" he shouted. He climbed up, and his men followed him to the roof. They only reached the top floor, but the ceiling had luckily crumbled from the artillery. The flag bearer ran, but soon, he fell. A bullet had entered through the side of his skull, a bullet coming from one of the rooms at the top floor. Gustaf didn't even se the man when he began to shoot through the walls. His kill was confirmed when he heard a body slumping dead and a weapon falling on the wooden floorboards. Gustaf took the lion flag, and ran up the slope of the roof. There, he found a unit of Bolsheviks on their final stand. Immediately, with only one hand, Gustaf sprayed the enemy soldiers with bullets, his men giving support. The enemy scattered, taking cover behind walls they set up, sandbags, and statues of communists like Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Leibknecht.

Without hesitation, Gustaf began throwing grenades at the statues, and the explosions rippled through the air. The statues shattered under the blast of the grenade's explosion, and flew outward. The soldiers behind them were knocked away, but they lived. Gustaf took it upon himself to finish them as the rest of his men stormed the enemy's fortifications, stabbing them with bayonets attached to their rifles. Gustaf then tore down the red flag of the Bolsheviks from atop the pole, and raised the lion flag. The men cheered. "Lieutenant Will," Gustaf called to the smoker in his ranks, "Give me your lighter." Will emerged from the position he stormed, drawing the bloody bayonet from the Bolshevik's throat. As he did, blood squirted out as the man began to choke to death on his own blood. Will took the lighter from a pouch on his breastplate and threw it at his general's direction. Gustaf caught it, and lit it. He put the flame underneath the red flag, which soon caught fire. Down below his men cheered as Finland was liberated.

A few hours later, Gustaf stood by the edge of the port. He exited out his own suit, and jumped down onto the ground. His men saluted him. Immediately, one of the officers of the artillery corps came running towards him. "General!" he called, "We spotted a Bolshevik ship inbound!" "Is it alone?" Gustaf asked. "Yes, sir," replied the artillerist. Gustaf took the man's binoculars and looked over at the distance. He saw a white dot, but when he looked through the binoculars, he saw a Bolshevik ship. However, on its mast was the personal standard of Johann Bellum. "Let it dock."

JOHANN BELLUM

Johann sat inside the comfort of his tanks. It's been a week since the coup began, and millions of former Bolsheviks turned against their once-beloved Directory. In the streets, massive banners flew, with the words, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" scribbled across. Johann found it funny, and when he departed from Alexandria, Virginia, all the way to the ports of Helsinki, Finland, he tore down every banner that read "YOU SHALL NOT PASS." It seemed like the White Guard does things differently. When his smaller boat that was placed on the interior docks of the surface warship docked, the soldiers were wary at first. Their guns were pointed at Johann and his host. Though they became less wary upon the sight of the White Guard Lion patch on Johann left arm, they were still wary nonetheless. Johann was quite confused as to what was happening. Was this all a setup? His men also began raising their weapons when they saw the White Guards having guns raised. "Stand down," Johann ordered both sides. "Stand down," Johann repeated, gesturing to his own host of a few men. They reluctantly obeyed.

Suddenly, a familiar voice broke through the crowd of White Guards. "Bellum!" he called. He erupted from the wall of gun-carrying soldiers. "Everyone, stand down, stand down," the man said. He was taller than Bellum, and sported a moustache. He wore a black uniform with the White Guard patch, and a cap above his head. The White Guards put down their weapons. "But sir," one of the man's soldiers called out, "that's Johann Bellum, who decimated our ranks in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East!" "And he's the reason why we already have Pluto in our hands," came the reply from Gustaf Gladium. "Ave!" Gladium said, raising his right arm in the Roman Salute. Johann saluted in his own manner. "Ave, General Gladium!" replied Bellum. "Come, let us get to my camp." Gladium made Johann follow him. Behind Johann followed his host of a few men carrying their guns. Bellum saw how the White Guard handled the banners which said, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS." They vandalised them, and now, they read: "WE HAVE ALREADY YOU SHALL NOT PASSED!" Heavy tanks stood at guard, their crews joyous after their recent battle which seemed like it happened only a few minutes ago, as signified by the may bodies being dragged from the port.

They entered a small building just to the north of the port, which had a radio station set up. The building was small, but it had to do. "We've received reports that Pluto has been entirely taken by the Aegis in Pluto after the defeat of one of your former colonels, Colonel Styles." "I feel no sympathy for the bastard," said Bellum, "He's a radical, just like I once was. The only difference is that I matured." "Indeed you did," said Gustaf, "and if you didn't, I have no idea how we would have further succeeded." Bellum nodded in acknowledgement. "How do we retake Terra?" asked Bellum. "I've already drawn up plans," replied Gustaf, "I just need your help in perfecting them." "Show me your maps."

Gustaf lead Bellum to the war room, which was empty. They were most likely drinking to their victory. A map stood there, multiple lines jutting out from Russia. They were now in phase one of the plan, which included Finland's liberation. The next step would be Poland, Germany, France, then Denmark. From Denmark, Norway would be next, followed by Sweden. Next was Spain, and from there, they would take Portugal. The next step was to take Italy through the Alps, as well as the rest of Eastern Europe. From Italy and from Romania, they would conquer Greece, securing their hold in Europe. This would be followed by a North African campaign, giving way to the Middle East. From Russia itself, and from the Black Sea and North Africa, they would surround Turkey and take it before they would attack further east until they reach big Red China. The Mongols would attack southward slowly as the White Guard conquered South Asia before reaching the borders of China. They would attack China through the Gobi Desert while a separate army would attack Southeast Asia and use the islands as naval bases for the invasion of South China. From there, they would attack Japan. Once Eurasia was secured, they would take time to regrow before taking Africa. Last on the list was the American continent, which would be ruined by civil war by the time Afro-Eurasia is taken. The White Guard would invade through Alaska down to Canada, and it would be expected that the soldiers of the coup would take over the northernmost states of the United States.

Bellum nodded. "It's a good strategy, we just need to know where we should actually attack." "Indeed, that's my only problem." Gustaf sat down and gestured to the seat beside him. "Before we do this, however, let's speak about your armies." "The generals who began the coup have sworn allegiance to the White Guard." Gustaf's face lit up, and he was trying his best to hide his smile. "And you?" he asked. Bellum nodded. "I now formally declare my allegiance to the White Guard. All my armies shall now operate under the White Guard," he said. Gustaf stood up. "Thank you," he said, extending his hand. Bellum shook it. "Welcome to the White Guard."
