Introduction
The year is 2742, forty years after the Third Great War or in layman's terms, The God War. Earth lies in ruins around the feet of every man, woman and child who survived, or was born into this nightmarish hell. But this is the middle of our story. Let's start at the beginning, like all good tales did, before they were called "Myths".
The Beginning of the End
The year that the war became a reality was around the late 2600's. No one remembers the exact date, but most agree that it was in the 2670-2680 range. Rare metals that could surpass any we had known, ones that were almost as light as air but harder than Titanium. Metals so lustrous and sparse that Diamonds were rendered worthless, just at the sight of them. These metals were known henceforth as God Metals for, "None but the Lord himself could outshine these materials, and no doubt he would have to struggle to do so."
The God Metal Race
Drilling and mining expeditions began at once. Corporations were dispatching teams across the globe, to both the populated and nearly vanished, wild areas of the globe, in attempt to find even a hint of these metals. The mines delved deep into the Earth, down, down into the crust and even the mantle of the planet. The subterranean activity of the mining eventually pushed the landmasses of the world together, forming a second Pangaea, a New Earth. However, even this did not stop the miners. Some companies came to no success and went bankrupt, while others found luck even in the oddest of places. Leading these companies, was Cloudsdale, a company that appeared virtually overnight and headed by someone the world has never even seen.
The Rise of Cloudsdale Croporation
Cloudsdale was the top of the God Metal ladder when the war began. In fact, it was Cloudsdale's fault that the war started in the first place. Their greed was what founded their company and destroyed the world. The trade from Cloudsdale was never plentiful, if it existed at all. Eventually, they built up a massive stockpile of God Metals. Fearing that these metals could be used to gain control of the world through economic, social, and militant ways, the nations of the world banded together against Cloudsdale. It was their fatal flaw, hubris, that destroyed them.
The World's End and The Downfall of Religion
Cloudsdale had built up a following so grand, that when the world announced war on the corporation, the corporation landed the first blow. Immediately, Cloudsdale began outfitting their security personnel with highly advanced armor and weaponry, based around the God Metals. Their roots firmly planted in the older ways of the world, swords made purely of God Metals were forged and given to their soldiers. The United World Army stood no chance as they were cut down in swaths across New Earth. Then the worst came. Science found ways to mix God Metals with other materials, creating bombs that would destroy life instead of land. These weapons were used without any sort of prejudice. As always, in times of disasters, man turned to God as an assurance, but God did not answer. Finally, in 2702, the bombs ceased to fall. Cloudsdale had destroyed all opposition and nearly sixty percent of human life on Earth. The humans were allowed to rebuild, but God was no longer their hope. Religion had vanished from the world, replaced with a worship of Cloudsdale and its God Metal supplies. Yet in some farther parts of the world, men rekindled old gods. They revived Myths.
The Gods and The Present
The year is 2742, forty years after the Third Great War or in layman's terms, The God War. Earth lies in ruins around the feet of every man, woman and child who survived, or was born into this nightmarish hell. Humanity has endured, as it always has, a force to be reckoned with, even at it's lowest point. But now, the masses of humanity do not stand alone against their oppressors. The old gods, gods that truly existed just as man did, were awoken by the prayers of their faithful. They saw the pitiful state that their poor children were in, and so, they sacrificed themselves almost entirely to stand with the race of man. The gods now stand alongside their most pious followers, unaware of their true lives, with no memory of their homes in paradises they built. They have no knowledge of the powers they still control, no way to access them but though hard work and determination, coupled with the belief of their people. And still they stand, ready to fight Cloudsdale and their mysterious leader, a man who arrogantly calls himself "The New God of New Earth."
