xxxFrom her background of constantly being in the spotlight and hungry eyes for the next big star in sport-scout masters to being forced to want nothing but the best she is truly someone that is over pressured to succeed. While she pushes herself that one extra mile until she can't keep going and her legs feel like jello and her lungs feel like they're about to explode, to staying in the ideal shape of someone that is aimed for nothing but success and a spot on the best sports-team. Jessie constantly feels a pressure to be the best, and run that extra mile, even if it makes her want to vomit, or push herself harder than she should. While she knows it isn't the healthiest choices and actions, she can't help but feel like she has no choice. With strict parents that want nothing but for her to be the best and be ultimately the poster child, she has constant stress on her shoulders to be the best. As well as fear of letting them down if she were to disappoint them with being anything but perfect.
xxxOutside of the whole athlete mindset, she isn't exactly what people would expect. She's kind, caring, thoughtful and very charismatic and has a good form of humor. When she isn't busy with training for the next school championship or soccer game, she can be seen hanging out with her small group of friends. She's been often considered one that others can go and talk to as she's more of a listener than talker and a rather good shoulder to cry on. She's always there for her friends when they need her and tries her best to be good company to keep around. She's also a very big flirt, regardless who the person may be, but she tends to tone it down for the most part as it's usually in good fun. In short, when she isn't focused with workouts and pressure to be the next big athlete in Meilleur, she could very easily be your best friend or someone you could entirely look over.
xxxFrom her earliest memory, she remembers having to go above and beyond what anyone else did, whether it was from teammates on the swim team at school, or her siblings back at home. Whether that was garnering attention after winning a game, or even simply getting attention for five minutes to feel like she existed was a constant battle at home among such a large family. Even after she did well at school, she'd have to work even harder at home for the attention from her parents that she craved. So, from an early age she learned to work harder, faster, and smarter than anyone else. If she worked hard and it paid off, then she'd get the attention she needed, and not even just the attention, but the acknowledgment of her existence, and maybe even a feeling of being loved by her parents. Which often led to some depressive episodes, which had resulted in her slope and decline into relying on Adderal. It started out small, someone at highschool offered her some to help with pulling an all-nighter for a quiz as she had been up all day running around the track. She was hesitant, but after a while, she accepted the small pills, and since then it has been a downhill and self-destructive reliance on them.
When she isn't busy with training for the next big game of soccer or basketball, or even lacross, then she's busy with the next race for the swim team or even the next track team meet. Whatever the case is, she is always busy and seeking out perfection, even if in reality it is highly unattainable. But since she arrived at Meilleur, she has never felt more at home. From finally being seen as good enough, to even receiving constant praise as no one has anyone to compare her to, it has relieved some stress off of her shoulders. But with the constant onslaught of letters from her family, that small voice has come back to her and has put her on edge. It was when she met Amelia in her second year that everything had changed. Almost immediately they hit it off with their outgoing and sarcastic personalities. Things had seemed to be going well as time went on, they got closer and Jessie felt like she finally had someone to talk to, someone to finally tell how she felt, and someone to finally come out to. Ontop of being in an overly stressful family, she was also born into a very conservative family, and as such she had to hide much of who she was. And it killed her on the inside.
But having someone like Amelia in her life, helped lift a lot of the burdens off of her shoulders. But things soon took a nosedive for the absolute worst. Soon after coming out to Amelia, it somehow spread across the school and almost everyone knew. Which, wouldn't have been such a bad thing, if rumors hadn't started going around the school. Such as the only reason she was only put on the sport teams is that she slept around and got her way to where she was because of that. Which, in reality, was entirely false. She confronted Amelia and asked why she told people, and Amelia said she didn't know it would have been such a big deal. While, it wasn't the worst thing to have gone around about her, it did dampen her reputation around the school for the most part. Things had thankfully dulled down after that in the first few weeks, but people still do make those snide comments in passing when they see her in the hall or locker room, which she's gotten over almost entirely. It was then two weeks later that Amelelia turned up dead, and now Jessie doesn't know what to do or think. The last thing she'd need is being dragged into a full-on murder investigation to ruin her shot at getting a good scholarship.
