a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by SleepyShadow

Description

Tamera is a tall, strong woman in her late twenties. Her dark hair is pulled into a loose ponytail, though her bangs are marred by a streak of premature white. Tone muscles line her body, and her dark eyes are keenly honed to detect movement. She typically wears a loose purple tunic, a pair of black trousers, and soft black boots. A red sash around her waist holds the black wood sheath that houses her family katana.

Personality

A stern woman with a quick wit, Tamera is typically a reserved and calm woman. However, she will suffer no insult, especially one that speaks ill of her skill as a warrior. She will also never back down from a challenge issued to her, unless she feels that winning the challenge would prove less beneficial than walking away.

Equipment

Traveling clothes.

Black cloak.

Straw hat.

Family katana.

Magic sword taken from a rival (never used).

History

Tamera was trained in the art of war from the time she was old enough to make a fist. She learned from her father, who taught her all he knew about honor, discipline, and swordsmanship. By the time she was sixteen, Tamera had become one of the strongest warriors in the Lion Clan. However, after a run-in with a peculiar foreigner, Tamera forsook her family and her clan, becoming a wandering ronin. Despite this, she still holds true to the codes and doctrines her father taught her long ago.

Tamera caught sight of Simon, but quickly dismissed him in her mind. She glanced at Rachel as the girl spoke.

"Nothing wrong with the quiet," she replied as her eyes returned to her drink.

Tamera watched as the girl's gaze fell onto her rough, calloused hands. She took a long, slow drink from her mug before turning to face the girl more fully, Tamera's back now to the sleeping elf.

"Is there something you want?" she asked brusquely.

Tamera arched a cynical eyebrow at the girl. "What fascinates you, child?" she asked curiously.

Tamera sprang from her seat and placed herself between Rachel and the new arrival, her hand firmly on the hilt of her sword. She glared across the room at the white haired creature.

"Stay behind me," she hissed to Rachel.

Tamera gripped the hilt of her sword tighter, ready to strike at any moment. "I have never been to this city before," she admitted, "but if this place is as infested with demons as you say, then my blade and I have a lot of work to do. Now stand, fiend."

Tamera quietly walked into the tavern, the heavy downpour of rain clinging to her cloak and straw hat. Droplets of rainwater trickled down from her hat and cloak as she walked across the room and sat at the bar. She slid two battered silver coins across the counter as she placed her order.

"Hot tea," she murmured to the bartender.

Tamera was knowledgeable of dragons, at least of the basics. Metallic colored dragons were rarely a threat, and so she paid little heed to the tiny creature as it went to sleep.

However, she eyed Simon as he entered the bar and sat at the fireplace. Slowly, Tamera rose to her feet and walked over to where the boy sat, wooden mug in hand. She gave him a small bow as she approached.

"May I sit?" she asked politely.

Tamera sat down beside Simon and took a long sip from her mug of steaming tea. She paid little heed to the whimpering girl in the corner. She fixed her gaze on Simon, though her straw hat obscured most of her face.

"What troubles you?" she asked.

Tamera removed her hat and placed it by her feet. She shook out her long, dark hair, then returned her attention to Simon.

"Forgive me for saying this," she began, "but you have the look of one in danger. You entered the tavern alone but did not order anything. That speaks of one attempting not to draw attention to oneself. You watch the other patrons here as if you suspect them of hostility, indicating that you do not truly know who your enemy is. Am I correct?"

Tamera glanced at Misty as the girl sat beside the fire, but quickly returned her attention to Simon.

Tamera silently donned her hat and rose from her seat. She walked across the room, placed her now empty mug on the bar counter, and swept out into the raining nighttime street. She had places to be.

Tamera quietly walked into the tavern, her long cloak and straw hat dripping from rain water. She was getting tired of the rain. She cast her dark eyes around the room, surveying any possible threats, then made her way to the bar and sat down, pulling her cloak tightly around her shoulders.

"Hot water," she murmured to the barkeep.

Tamera cautiously eyed Zelanui from her spot at the bar. She removed her still dripping hat and set it beside her on the counter, and shook out her long dark hair. She was uncertain what a dark elf was doing here, but so long as Tamera remained undisturbed by whatever trouble the drow was causing the woman did not care.

"Thank you," she said to the barkeep as she received her steaming mug of water.

Tamera pulled her hat and mug away from the seemingly ecstatic drow girl, clearly annoyed by her exuberance. Her annoyance was almost palpable.

"Shoo," she said in an off-handed tone to the drow girl, sipping from her mug.

Tamera looked toward Arashi, back to the drow, then back to Arashi. She was beginning to feel surrounded by stupidity.

"What would you know of the Kyogoku Clan?" she asked dryly, trying to conceal her curiosity, before her irritated gaze fell upon Zur'aslwein. "My name is Tamera Tachiuchi, and no, I don't want one. To answer your other question, 'Shoo' means 'Go away'."

Tamera sighed sadly, his story sounding all too familiar. "I know far too well what it means to be a ronin," she said to him before rounding on the drow.

"I am not angry, just annoyed," she said flatly.

Tamera frowned at the drow, her patience quickly fading.

"I came here to get out of the rain, and to get a hot drink," she answered curtly. "Nothing more, nothing less."
