"Ow..." Daniel muttered clutching at his head and trying to blink away the stars in his eyes. He groggily lifted himself up into a sitting position and looked at the girl that had shook him awake. "Hey," he groaned, still not quite all there, "what's up?" He smiled at her. Then full consciousness came crashing back on him in a wave of panic. He stood up quickly. "Oh my gosh, I've gotta go. I've gotta get out of here. They're coming for me." He looked at the girl, his eyes wide with fear. He had seen her before. It finally came to him after a moment of thought, the garage, she had been there when he had teleported. In all the panic and confusion he hadn't really taken in any specifics, but now he took her in, the colour in her hair, the knowing sparkle behind her eyes. The panic was silenced for a second and he smiled at her.
"What happened? I remember something hitting me and then nothing..."
He looked up at the fire escape above him. The ladder was hanging down into the alleyway, nothing more than a thread of orange rust held its suspension in thin air. His question was answered, he simply hadn't been looking where he was going. He groaned, then turned to the girl.
"When you left that garage back there, did you see a guy, kinda tall, shaggy, brown hair, looked pretty tough?"

"You're... You're a human? Natasha heard the seer-like mutant say as she finally looked at the dog-like mutant, not understanding how such a thing was possible. Mimic knew she should be running off at this very moment, Chris hesitating to drive off on his bike for one reason or another, and hiding but this mutant man was too interesting. The fur's DNA indicated that he could change back into human form, at least in theory, and wondered why he hadn't yet done so. With all the anti-mutant police in the area he would be far more inconspicuous than a massive dog but then she found something in his genetic code that alarmed her: It was partially converted to fit the new form, not his original. If the living cells continued in such a fashion then he would be stuck like that with no way going back. Could be part of a trap... She thought, paranoia screaming in her head, Still, DNA doesn't lie. I don't think anyone should have to go through that. Nat was feeling sympathetic for him, her powers not yet stripping her of this quality, and decided to help. She walked over to the creature, bent down to his level and said in as clear a tone as was possible for his nervous stuttering lips, "Ok, D-Dog boy. If you can understand m-me then listen closely: If you concentrate y-you can change back but if you don't then you'll be s-stuck like this for the rest of your miserable life. Uh, I-I... S-suggest you make up your mind qu-quickly." She suddenly looked around suspiciously at her surroundings at the other people in it, standing and considering her options whilst scratching at the already angry scars on her arms compulsively.

Romeo simply stood there, listening first to the girl who asked to be called Mac, watching as she ran off, then to the strange girl who had seemed to be made of metal earlier, and smelled strongly of blood. She seemed to be talking to a large dog, saying something about it being a mutant. This didn't suprised him, nothing did anymore.

"Look," he said, to all of them in general, "I don't know about you guys, but it's getting to be about lunchtime, and I'm getting hungry. I was on my way to have some fun, then eat, but now the fun's ruined, but I'm still hungry. So is there anyway I can speed this long? Maybe get a leash and a collar or something?" When hungry he tends to get angrier quicker, and why he doesn't have any special reason to dislike any of the mutants present, he could find some quickly. "I'll even pay for the food, alright?"

Turning he looked back in the direction of where he'd left the guy who'd tried to mug him. he could hear the ambulence as it drove away, and it quieted him a little. never had he killed on purpose, but there's been accidents over the years. if you looked at his record they wouldn't show, but they still happened. Every part of his life was a cover up thanks to his old man. It was as if his fahter wanted it to seem like Romeo didn't even exist. And now that all these mutants had suddenly risen up so close to home, he felt maybe his father was connected somehow.

The girl hadn't said a word from the moment he had woken up. He stared at her a little, slightly disconcerted. What was going on? With a start, a thought hit him. Is she even moving? Still holding his head, he turned to look back at the street where the dead bodies of the two mutant hunters lay. They must have called for back-up so long ago, why weren't the hunter squads bearing down on him and the girl? He looked up, a habit he had picked up over the years, based on his theory that "No-one ever looks up in the movies."

That's when he spotted the bullet and the assassin. The bullet was an inch from his head, frozen, suspended in thin air. The assassin on the rooftop was frozen in place, his rifle supported against his shoulder. Had he... could he possibly have frozen time? He hadn't even been conscious of the danger, but his body had reacted regardless. He had frozen time.

This is so cool! He laughed at the newest protection his power had afforded him.
"I stopped time! This is awesome." He looked over at the girl, hoping to receive some form of congratulations from her, but then he remembered she, too, was frozen. "Damn it." He looked up again at the assassin. There was no point standing around and waiting for his time-freeze to wear off and for the bullet to hit its target, he also knew he couldn't leave the girl here to suffer that fate either. He looked her up and down, trying to gauge how much she weighed. He worked out, he could probably pick her up, he thought. He slung the girl across his shoulders in a modified fireman's lift and began to walk back towards the alleyway and the garage that he had teleported to earlier.

He had just stood the girl up next to the tough looking guy, the crazy chick and what appeared to be a huge dog and straightened down her skirt, when in the distance he heard the whine of a bullet ricocheting in the distance. He surveyed the rag-tag bunch of teens, smiling nervously.

Suddenly, Daniel felt something rising up inside him, something that felt all wrong. He was about to scream for the others to run, but before he could, his body began to swell with energy. He felt his insides being torn to shreds and he screamed. Finally, the energy could not be contained any longer, it tore from his body in a huge explosion that not only levelled the city, but destroyed the planet. Earth was destroyed.
