Snippet #106

Endy sat at a table in front of the little bistro that faced the square opposite the Colleseum. The gigantic statue of Genox dominated the wide open piazza. It had been too easy to persuade the owner to let him play for a two week gig. He had taken his espresso to the table in the shade and strummed his lyre absently. The music wandered into the square and down the streets and alleyways, calling to the residents of the city. The bistro would be packed tonight and the owner would be pleased.

Two guards wandered up as if drawn to a favorite smell. Endymion continued to play but smiled up at them.

"Greetings brothers! A fine day indeed. I see you are music lovers."

The greasy guard grunted "Ya, snot bad"

"I am honored" Endy said. 'Let me personally invite you to the show tonight and provide drinks for you and your brothers, as my guests."

"Awroight" the short guard said, "we will. Fanks friend!" They wandered off smiling and talking to themselves.

"Too easy, too easy" Endy enjoyed making people do as he wished and leaving them think it was thier idea. A few drinks and he would be friends with the whole unit that protected the square and it's surrounds. Money well spent.

As he sipped his complimentary drink and pondered on his play list, he watched a hawk lazily circle above.

"Curious" he thought,"He shouldn't be here."

The bard was even more amazed as the hawk turned into a person and precariously sat upon an unsteady perch on the wall of the huge areana.

"Even more curious" he smiled. "This should prove to be an interesting and lucrative gig."
