The sound of a tiger roaring nearly drowned out the screams of a dieing slave. It had become a regular thing to hear in the streets around the arena. Elegost remembered the several dead people that King Egan had killed mercilessly. At first, when he was younger, it was something he did not think of. The weak were to obey the strong, and the strong preyed on the weak. It was the way of life! But it wasn't right. The retired soldier thought as he stood outside the arena walls. He had come only to pay his respects to the dieing, and to remind himself why he left the king's army. It was his wish to pay the king back for all his evil doings, but now was not the time. And he had to keep his thoughts secret, or else he too would be screaming to death in the dirt and blood stained floor of the arena.

As he turned to leave that dark place, filled with the stench of death, guards and soldiers that stood at the entrance saluted him. They knew who he was, and what he had done for the kingdom. He was a war hero to them, a beacon of goodness and justice. It was a shame they did not see the King for what he was, a dark ruler without a heart. If they could realize this, perhaps Elegost would be able to turn them away from this cruelty that filled Russataia. That's a good idea...perhaps my reputation will earn me an army. A rebellion could be made... he thought to himself. Then he shook his head. "There is no more hope left for the living. And daydreaming will not get you anywhere." he whispered.

Suddenly, his body stiffened as he heard a loud thump on the ground far behind him. He whirled around, drawing his two swords, ready for battle. Ahead of him were two guards, and an elf. The pointy eared being ran with incredibly speed, commanding the wind to aid him. Elegost stepped back into the shadow of a nearby building, watching the elf pass by. He knew who he was. Aylward, the commander of winds. If there was any hope for a rebellion, it would be started with him. He sheathed his weapons and departed from the scene, planning to find the elf again. After all, rebels needed to stick together.
