The other patrons of the tavern paid little attention to the woman as she barged past in a hurry, disappearing into the quickly swelling crowd of drinkers who now occupied the room. Eria let out a gasp when she came to the back of the room only to find herself cornered. She had expected there to be another way out of the inn. Now she was trapped. She spun around and stood staring at the door expectantly. The hood of her cloak obscured her face save for the delicate curve of her chin and the cloak was drawn around her body, hiding her frame.

A moment passed and there was a loud slam as the doors of the inn burst open. Five men in dark red cloaks and robes stepped into the room, rapiers drawn and at the ready. They scoured the room with their gazes, glaring threateningly at the patrons who dared meet their eyes.
