They traveled for several days and Nathaniel began to wonder exactly where they were headed and when they would arrive. Everyone was tired, they all needed to rest soon but it seemed that wouldn't come at any point in the near future as a strange but familiar smell filled the air. Nathaniel snorted trying to clear his sensitive nose of the stench, his eyes darting around for the beast they had seen not long before they fled the city. Chris and his female seemed to be much more distressed than Raine and himself, before he could question them the Kurag leapt at him with a screech that deafened him. He barely had time to react as he flattened his ears to protect his hearing and tried his best to dodge the creature's surprise attack. The Kurag's claws didn't hit hard enough to kill him but they still tore his flesh as they raked across his chest. Roaring in pain, he jumped back further and took a stance on all fours snarling at the beast. Another sound caught his attention, a second Kurag had taken off towards Raine. Nathaniel knew she had few arrows left since she helped him with his pack, he owed her for that and the best he could give her now was time to draw an arrow at the monster or in the least lure it away from her. Growling at the one who had injured him, he backed up slowly, then turned and darted towards the second Kurag, running along side the monster snapping towards it to try and draw its attention towards him. He knew the first one would no doubt be on his heels as well but hopefully his speed could keep a small distance long enough to achieve what he wanted.
