And he couldn't see a mouse being sent for anything other than the idea of secrecy. They were not especially powerful creatures, nor were their senses above that of any other creature that could have been used. A flea, for instance, would have been hardly noticeable unless someone had specifically been looking for it, and their senses were much more powerful than that of a mouse.
