Shaar stood helplessly as he watched the Demon fling Specter back and forth like a piece of meat. He probably should've done something, but what would he have done? If he had attacked, the beast probably would've messed him up as bad as Specter and they would both be lying on the ground mortally wounded waiting for some rebellion scum bag to come finish them off. Eventually, the demon seemed to get over what had pissed him off so badly and held Specter eye level and snarled something demonic. Then it flung her to the ground and vanished.

Honestly, he wasn't exactly sure what he had signed on for anymore.

He walked over to where Specter lay and knelt down beside her. Oh boy, was she messed up bad. Shaar was a mercenary, not a medic. What was he going to do now? There was slim chance she was going to survive this out here, with rebellion troops swarming in the area and the condition she was in. They probably weren't going to be as nice this time and capture her alive, considering she just indirectly killed a whole lot of them.

"...Alright. I need to get you out of here. The Rebels will already be significantly weakened because of this attack. I don't suppose it matters whether we win or lose. Skorn can always just reanimate more soldiers. Speaking of that, you probably won't survive the trip so Skorn will probably have to raise you as well."

Just as he was about to pick her up, he spotted something out of the corner of his eye. Shaar immediately stopped, stood up, and turned around to see who else had shown up. The last person Shaar expected to see was the leader of the rebellion, but of course, it was. And he seemed pretty exhausted too. Angry demons, vulnerable rebellion leaders appearing from nowhere...Truly, the world is full of surprises!

"Gar Locke! I'm going to enjoy killing you!"

Shaar retrieved his crossbow off his back, took aim, and fired. The bolt was intended for the head of the rebellion leader, but Shaar didn't expect it to hit. Things were never that easy.
