Veta was still peering through the window, staring at the new servant, Croix. There was something about him that made her want to speak to him, though she rarely spoke to servants besides Eve and Mae. "Someone should call him in here," she said, turning to Eve with a smile. "I should like to meet him, I think." Perhaps she felt that she had a kindred soul to the servant boy. After all, both were put into a position where they were not exactly what people had hoped them to be. Veta knew her parents had wished her to be a bit more like Azure, and although people said Azure was the different one, Veta could not help feeling like the outcast, spending all her time in the gardens, sometimes even making up excuses to stay there after dark. And although Veta loved her family and Eve dearly, she counted her dog, Apollo as her best friend. What a sad girl she was.

"Veta, when you've finished, if you have nothing else you wish to do this afternoon I think it would be best if you came and tried on some of the dresses I brought you."

At Eve's remark, Veta gave a girlish giggle, glad to have such a good friend. She wondered if she would be able to take Eve with her or not. Oh, how she wished she could. How would Evelynne even feel about such a move, though? She had served the royal family for as long as Veta could remember - would she want to leave it? "That sounds lovely," she said, nodding. "I hold your advice in fashion far above anyone else's." She looked over Eve's beautiful figure and the dress that showed it off. Veta was never bold enough to wear the things Eve wore, preferring long skirts, and although the hand-maiden was not technically supposed to wear such revealing garments, Veta never said anything, for she admired her friend for her forwardness.
