"I don't see--" His words were cut off as the leaves rustled, indicating movement. He cocked his eyebrow, squinting at the bush. "Probably just a squirrel or something." The plant rustled again, even more violently. Jonah blinked, a little surprised. "A very big squirrel?"
His thoughts immediately went to the crime scene they'd just left. Murder. Wasn't that what Violet thought it had been? What if she was right? ...And what if whoever was responsible hadn't left? Signalling for the girl to stay where she was, he stood up and slowly approached the bush, grabbing a fallen branch off of the ground just in case. "Hello? Who's there?"
