The snow walker blinked, slamming his eyes shut for a moment and then opening them back up. He felt unsteady and the room was beginning to spin. Then he felt the pain worsen, as if thousands of needles were pressing into the wound on his right shoulder. Kira's grip loosened and his staff fell from his hand, clattering to the floor. The pain was strange, a sensation he'd never felt before. He'd been hurt plenty of times, but he'd never felt something as immense as this. It was staggering, literally, and Kira fought to keep himself upright as he rose to his feet. Something felt different as well. He felt the rays from the ball room lights touch his skin and warm them, an alien feeling. Then it hit him. It was gone. The frozen blizzard that normally encased him in endless winter had ceased its fury.

The complications of that realization dealt a greater blow to the winter mage and he was in full blown shock. The room continued to spin and before he had taken even a few steps away from the creature's corpse he collapsed to the ground again. He was still conscious, but he was becoming delirious as his mind tried to comprehend what his body had concluded. Did I really expend so much energy? I've....done a bit here and there today, but I didn't think it had built up so much, he thought to himself. Then another thought came to mind. Could it be....the poison? Kira wondered. His strength was failing as he watched a woman in green tending to the autumn warrior he'd seen fighting earlier. Now Kira wondered why he'd never tried to learn any healing spells. Then again, he doubted he had any energy left to use them. One creature had done all this, the snow walker shuttered to think what would happen when they faced more.
