As he had suspected, Lauralyn was awake, seated at the bottom of the stairs as she waited for him. He knew why she must be there.
Leland walked, swift and silent, down the stairs to sit beside her.
"Have they stirred?" He breathed.
"No," Lauralyn answered with equal quiet, "Their transformations are not yet... complete."
In the room beyond, the bodies of their prey lay, twitching in their half-granted slumber while their bodies changed forever.
