Alice glanced to Evelyn, thinking on her words for a moment. Normally she would have scoffed and said something like 'meh, I hope not. I don't want to befriend any of these people', but she could detect an urgency, a sort of desperation in his voice. She knew her brother's personality was not at all geared towards making friends, even less so than Alice's own persona, and so she thought she could sense an almost hopeful tone behind his voice.

"I don't know, Evey," she said in a softer voice than usual. Comforting others was admittedly not one of Alice's strong points, but after all, Evelyn had been without a doubt her best friend all her life, regardless of who inherited the duchy. "But I know if you make an effort, if you try to show who you really are to the world, I have no doubt that you will find friends wherever you go. Including here." She tried to give a reassuring smile--which wasn't exactly something she had much practice at. Alice herself in the past had never really lacked for friends, always having a small, tight-knit group of close friends with her wherever she went. Alice could remember that Evelyn had in the past had some friends of his own (though she never really interacted with his friends, and Evelyn never really saw much of Alice's), but inheriting the Hampton duchy was a rather big detail, and combined with Evelyn's shy, gentle personality, that didn't exactly equate to making lots of friends.
