Alice stopped short at the sight of the man who stood before them, standing a good three inches taller than Alice. When he spoke she rose an eyebrow tentatively. Nobles? She had never referred to herself as a 'noble'--that was, it seemed, a term of ages long past. But it was a small detail, and now they knew at least where exactly they were supposed to go. "Thank you very much," she said, giving a small bow of the head in response to the man before walking on, motioning with her head for Evelyn to follow.

They walked up the dock before noticing the complex of buildings before them. Alice did as instructed and strode towards the building on the left, swinging open the door to reveal a spacious dining hall. An elongated dinner table sat in the centre of the room, with elegant wooden chairs; wide windows on all of the walls allowed the sun's light to stream down upon the table. Alice seated herself at the table as was probably expected, motioning for Evelyn to seat himself as well.
