The guy with the Ferrari leaned back against the counter, eating his liqueur chocolates, watching the people come in and buy stuff. He had time to kill, nothing to do all day. Go to school, maybe? It seemed kinda weird, to be making the money he was, and still of an age where he could go to school. Back home it wouldn't be like that.

He'd tried to strike up a conversation with the clerk, but the guy had seemed to intent on looking at the girls. Couldn't blame him for that. One of them, the one in the purple polo and black tie was just a kid, but then he guessed so was the clerk. As for the one who'd just left, well she was cute enough, but maybe TOO nice. Like a Shoju Manga character with extra sweetness.

It was the other one that interested him. The skinny one, with the fierce, "don't touch me" look on her face. She'd asked for liquorish, too, so maybe her taste in sweets matched her dark personality. Though she'd gone for the gumballs too, do who could say? "If I was after hooking up," he thought, "which I'm not, that's be the one I'd go for. But I bet we'd argue all the time and split up hating each other. She looks the aggressive type."

But when he looked at her a second time, he had to admit she was cute, in a not-quite-emo kind of way. Nice eyes.

He wondered if he'd looked at her too long. Had she noticed? He looked away, and reached for a cigarette. There was probably a no-smoking rule in here, but who cared?
