Hope's head shot up from the controls at the sound of the intercom, "Yes!" the word escaped Hope's lips before she could realize what she was saying.
A sheepish grin spread across her face and she turned to give Ciar a grateful beaming smile.
Hope vaulted over the control panel before her and towards the navigation panel and reaching it she dropped herself into the chair and buckled in, Where the heck was the pilot! she wondered. The nav panel adjusted to her position.
"Brace for evasive maneuvers!" she called as she killed the main engines and put the right thrusters at full throttle causing the ship to creak and moan slightly but bank hard to the left.
It took a minute for the large ship to complete the banked turn but as soon as the navigation panel showed a complete 180 degree turn she brought the main engine back to full power and the ships speed increased 10 fold speeding away from the gravity and radiation fields of the new star.
She throttled the left thrusters to about 50% of max to decrease the centripetal force and eased off on the right thrusters to about 50% bringing the ship back to level.
