"Jesus, these people love this stuff," Lolanthe said aloud to himself, walking along the street of the city he'd ended up in. A smirk passed his lips as he counted the money he'd received. "For further notice, oregano equals good money." His dog-like companion huffed as if replying to him, her long legs keeping her alongside Lo with ease. "Don't give me that, Scratch." Lo teased, turning into an alleyway. "We need it, right?"
Scratch's ears twitched before her mane of fur shot up, a low growl escaping her throat. She was a frightening sight when alarmed, a looming, skinny thing, the only point it was clear that she was no ordinary dog.
"Scratch?" Lo turned to see what had stopped her. "Wha-?"
He stopped dead in his tracks. Two men stood an the entrance to the alleyway, staring him down. They were dressed in slick black suits and ties, the one on the left sporting a pair of shades. These were no businessmen, though. Lo had the most terrible feeling that he'd seen them before. Scratch's growling was bellowing now, her fur looking as if it was gelled into spikes. Lo placed his hands in his pockets.
"Didn't your boss ever tell you it was dangerous to corner a subject?" He asked casually, a loud snarl from Scratch finishing his sentence.

The man with the sunglasses smirked and looked to his comrade. "Disable him."
The next thing Lolanthe felt was blinding pain. His right arm felt as though it had exploded, and it took a few seconds to realize he had been shot. He clutched at the bleeding and cursed under his breath, gritting his teeth. The scene in front of him came to focus again and he saw the men advancing on him. Without his guidance, without the , Scratch couldn't use her powers and had resorted to looming over her fallen human protectively.
"Scratch!" he yelled, forcing himself to focus. The shooting had been a strategy to make him lose his edge, but he refused. Transferring all the energy he could to her, he heard a few faint clicking sounds. Even in his pain he smirked as Scratch's body transformed, two large guns sitting atop her shoulders.
"Fuck," he heard one of the men whisper. Lo stood shakily.
"Nigh.." He winced. "Now!"

There was a blinding white light, as Lo's consciousness began to waver, and then nothing.
