"I wonder...,"said Brihan, before pausing. Was it fair to bring this up? It was something she worried about with every new mutant who joined Armada, though she rarely said anything because she didn't want to damage someone else's chances of settling in. Armada was supposed to provide the mutants with a place they could feel safe and comfortable, and she didn't want to jeopardise that. Still...

She drained the last of her apple juice, set the glass down on the bar and slid it away. Leaning slightly closer to Xypher, she lowered her voice, and it was clear from her expression that she found this subject distasteful. "Even before our HQ was attacked, we'd agreed that the government has known about the existence of pro-mutant groups for some time now. They must know that we're taking in mutants who are abandoned and lost after escaping the Genesis facility. I've often wondered... supposing the government wanted to find and destroy us. They know we're not easy to find because we hide from humans and government servants. But what if there was a way to bring us out into the open, to make us come to them?" She looked at Xypher intently. "We provide a safe haven for mutants. That's our weakness.

What if the government released a mutant who appeared to be an escapee from the Genesis facility, but was actually a double agent? I know it's far-fetched; I know most of the mutants under government control are virtually brain-dead and could never pass for a free mutant. And if they were to survive with their full consciousness, why would they submit to being controlled by Genesis? And would the government risk releasing a mutant with its full personality intact, capable of acting with free will? Surely a security risk. But the possibility is there." She sighed. "I hate thinking like this, because if we can't trust each other, who else do we have? But it's something that always worries me whenever a new member joins."

"Well, as you say... if we are going to strike back at Genesis, I'm sure we'll be given time to prepare ourselves. That's a small mercy, anyway." She was suddenly feeling depressed again and wished the trendy hipster girls were back.
