Michael Seram reads the words aloud to himself, his finger tracing the letters in the book of Proverbs. He smiles warmly when he's finished, his youthful face brightening in the early hours of the morning. He's sited upon a small stump in an acre of trees not far from the Balazar house.

Closing his Bible in his lap, Michael takes a contented breath of the crisp air. He knew he ought to be getting home soon, now was about the time his mom would get up and start making breakfast.

Just a few more minutes… Michael argues with himself, I didn’t get up at sunrise and hike out here for an hour just to turn back now. He thumbs at his white T-Shirt, loosely draped over his athletic physique. His brown eyes glimmer reflectively, staring out into the shards of morning sunlight beaming through the trees. It was as if everything was turned to gleaming gold.

Gold is such a beautiful color, he says to himself smiling. A soft wind rolls in gently, tossing about the amber leaves and playfully tousling Michael’s long hair, kissing his bare neck softly. He’d stay there for the rest of the morning, peacefully listening to the cooing whispers of the wind through the trees.
