Heaven didn't really care that she'd never known her birth mother. She guessed that she was someone that her father had actually deeply cared for, but she didn't delude herself into thinking that he had loved the woman. Sydney, her real mother, was the one woman that he would always love, the one that, romantic Heaven, thought that was made for him. And, Sydney had been the best kind of mother a girl could ask for.

She watched the man turn his affections to her mother, and she got a slightly jealous look on her face. One that she shared with Cheyenne for a brief moment, before the older woman's face turned to a sneer. The two younger women shared a wish, though they wouldn't share it with anyone, not each other, or anyone in the house. Heaven looked outside and sighed to herself. A day outside would do both her and Jezebel good.

As Heaven and Kerrie moved forward to take their usual seats, with their plates in front of them, Cheyenne turned to the sink and ground her cigarette against the white surface, then washed down the ashes. "Whatever." The woman said. She wondered if her husband was still upstairs moping, and considered going up and dragging him down. She hated being cooped up with the family when she was in more of a mood to confront the man and make him snap out of himself, realize what he had in his bed, every night.

"Smells delicious, Ker." Cheyenne said as she made her way into a chair. She actually liked Kerrie, the girl was just on the right side of off, without being overly crazy. And she was smart.
