Jake gave a laugh as Anna gave him "the look." He turned around just after she began speaking, Jake dropping his head, half assed jogging to his truck. He turned just in time to see the amused look on her face, making him grin a little more. Jake gave an amused noise to her statement, "Yeah, I know right." The tone he used said just the opposite. Their school would be open during the apocalypse. He reached in and tried to turn the engine over, though it did nothing but turn the radio on. "Son of a bitch..." He growled, opening his door and pulling the seat forward, grabbing a box of sockets and grabbing a size 9mm and walking over to the passenger side. He dropped on his back and slid under the truck, snaking his hand up above the starter and tightening a small nut. He was about done and a loud "zap" came from the area he had his hand, making his hand rip back out of the truck. "FUCKING...!" He yelled, the socket hitting him in the chest. He reached up and grabbed it, sliding back out from under the truck and jogging over to the drivers side.

Jake popped the socket back in the carrier and slipped it back underneath a box just under the back seat. He slid the seat back and slid into the driver seat, tossing his backpack into the back seat. He turned his truck on and plugged his Zune into the obnoxiously long AUX cable, turning a nob just below his dash just slightly up before he picked a song. He thumbed through a few artists, landing on Deadmau5 and selecting his music. He set it to shuffle and the first song to play was Ghosts n' Stuff. He slightly turned the volume up, as well as the small nob to the right and increasing the power sent to the two subwoofers under the back seat. His dad said they were a waste of 500 bucks, but Jake said they made the music he listened to sound better.

He rolled the windows of the truck down, allowing the autumn wind to blow through the cab as they left the front of Jake's house, taking the ten to fifteen minute trip (depending on which lights you hit) to their high school. Jake parked near the field house every chance he got, knowing good and well just after football practice he'd be hammered to death. The walk from the locker room was always the hardest part of each day. Especially when there were two five gallon coolers of Gatorade and the best air conditioner a Louisiana high school could afford. The coaches spoiled them rotten... But only when they were done with practice, or just having won a game.
