Raphael stirred slowly, opening his eyes and finding himself surprised at the light.
Why was it so dim? he thought, blinking. Normally the light was so bright.
Puzzled he turned his head to find himself in a strange place. This wasn't his cage. Where was his blanket? His bear? His carer? He didn't recognise anything.
Frightened, Raphael let out a scream and ran from the room, headlong into someone.
The person in front stumbled, but Raphael fell backwards, shock silencing him for the moment. The figure looked down to show a face that was not ugly but frightening, with scars over, what would otherwise be, a smooth face. Her eyes were different colours and one eye had long lashed, whilst the other had short and stubby ones.
It was frightening to behold, but she gave him a soft smile and crouched down.
"Please, little one," she said in such a sweet voice. "Why do you thqueem?"
He blinked hard. She spoke a little like a child, though she was too tall to be one.

Miles had heard the scream from his room and looked at Eyes.
"Go investigate," he said, standing. "I'll finish."
He watched her leave and continued where she left. It would not be as neat as Eyes, but it would be good enough.

Eyes blinked at the small boy. He seemed too surprised.
"Would you like to come with me?" she said, offering her hand. "I promith you will be thathe."
The little boy nodded and she helped him up, straightening his clothes.
"Are you hungry?" she said as she made him presentable, watching him nod his head. "Thall we go and find thomething to eat? I need to find my mathder, but then we can go."
The boy seemed unsure of this.
"He'th juthd down here, thir," she said, watching as he took her hand in both of his and walked very close to her.
