Desmond was quietly lying in his bed. His breathing was slow and steady and his eyes were closed. There was a sudden blast of music that rang out in his room, shattering the peaceful silence and causing him to awaken. Bright, emerald colored eyes opened, drowsily staring the wall next to his bed. He slowly sat up, covering falling off of his upper body and pooling around his waist on the bed. He groaned loudly, wanting to fall back asleep. He looked over at his iPod dock system, which was now playing the song, 'La camisa negra', he had set for his iPod alarm to play once it came time. He reached over, thinking about yanking his iPod off the stand before deciding it would keep him more awake to have it on while he got ready. He rose from the bed, clad in dark blue boxers. As he went over to his closet, he pulled out some clothes for school. He folded them and carried them to the bathroom.

He set his clothes on the sink counter. He went to the shower, turning it on. The water burst from the shower head, cold at first, but quickly warming until it was steaming. He undressed and stepped under the shower head. Feeling how hot the water was, he couldn't help but hold back a small yelp - he hadn't intended to make it this hot. At this point, he didn't even care, blaming it on being so sleepy when he awoke. He quickly showered and then stepped out, drying himself off and redressing in the clothes he had laid out for the day. He kept the towel around his neck so it caught the droplets of water falling from his wet hair.

Fully dressed, he went to the door of his younger brothers. He knocked on the door. "Zeke! Steph! It's time to get up!" he said. He walked his brothers and sisters to school every day, his parents not wanting to wake up unless they had to, plus Desmond had to go anyway, why not have him get up and take them to school early? There were sounds of complaints from inside, but Desmond immediately silenced them. "I'll make you all some waffles." he offered, smiling to himself. Suddenly, their complaints turned to encouragement to one another to get up and get dressed. Now, was the hard part. He went to his sister's door. He knocked on it. "Liz! Em! Time to get up!" Immediately, there was loud complaining and whining. He laughed nervously to himself. "Mom and dad will be mad if you guys are late." he said. "Not at all! They'll be mad at you! It's not my problem!" he heard his oldest sister yell. He sighed at Elizabeth's attitude so early in the morning, but his smile remained. "Come on, you don't hate me that much." "I do!" he chuckled. "Alright. Then i suppose you would never want breakfast made by someone you hate." Suddenly, he heard his baby sister's voice, urging Elizabeth to go on and get up so they could have food. It always stunned him how energetic and positive Emily was a her age. She was agreeable, kind, and generally wasn't too loud and complacent with a lot of things.

Desmond made his way to his room, yanking his iPod from the dock and plugging in the headphones. He wound the cord around his iPod and stuffed it into his pocket. He rushed downstairs, starting to make breakfast for all his siblings. He took out some frozen waffles from the fridge and put four in their large toaster. He pushed the plunger-switch down and started to get out plates, forks, and butter - While he was at it, he got napkins. A short while later, the twin boys ran downstairs. Their short black hair was still messy, but their green eyes were full of life - life brought to them by the promise of waffles. Desmond set their buttered waffles in front of them before standing behind them and combing through their hand with his hands. "When you wake up, you should do your hair." "Okay, Des." Ezekiel replied. His twin's reply was much different. "No! Make me!" Desmond sighed. "Well... I suppose i can do this for a while." he said, referring to combing down their hair with his fingers - which he did each morning, might he add. As more waffles came up, he put them on plates and quickly buttered them, setting them on the other side of the table.

The two girls came down a moment later. Emily plodded over and climbed up into her chair, pulling the plate down to eat it better. Emily had short, curly brown hair and bright blue eyes. Desmond laughed slightly as his sister messily ate her waffle. He turned to Elizabeth, who munched on her waffle. "How is it?" he asked, smiling. Elizabeth looked up. "It's gross, you ass." Desmond laughed nervously, putting his hands up. "Easy, liz. I know you hate mornings, but please, watch your language." "I'm sixteen, stupid." "You're only sixteen." he added. Elizabeth 'hmph'ed, going back to eating, curling straight black strands of hair around her finger and not looking at him - blue eyes focused on her waffle.

As the younger kids finished eating, they got their backpacks from their rooms - save for Elizabeth, who had already put hers on. Desmond waited by the door, a waffle in his hand as he munched on it. He didn't have much of an appetite, only having eaten half of the only waffle he had made himself, which he was currently holding. As they came back down, ready to leave, he opened the door for them. As they ran out, Desmond followed. "Hey! Careful!" he said, voice only slightly louder - he didn't want to wake any sleeping neighbors. Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Whatever." There was a short pause as they all started walking. "Des?" "Yeah, liz?" "Why don't i go to the same school as you?" Desmond thought a moment. "Actually... That's a good question. I don't know, ask mom or dad." With that, most conversation ended. Desmond and his siblings headed towards the nearby elementary school to drop off the younger kids before Elizabeth and Desmond parted ways - Desmond heading towards his high school.
